Added a link to the spiritual successor.

Made a spiritual successor to this amazing mod called Inclusive Skin Tones . There's a link in the description to a version that includes Laguru's skin tones.
MxCheeseSauce 16 May, 2024 @ 7:55am
would really appreciate an update on this!
Runzu 5 Feb, 2024 @ 1:58pm
Excited for this update. You chose amazing colors for this. I appreciate it! Especially as a person with brown skin who's seen the absolutely worse palette picks. LOL
CallidusVir 27 Jun, 2023 @ 3:50pm
I'll be waiting for this new mod!
Cantaloupe The Clown 28 Apr, 2023 @ 7:00pm
still hoping for a successor, I loved this mod
Haruhya 17 Apr, 2023 @ 3:59pm
1.4 update please

Insane flashbacks to when I started playing. Literally, the first mod I ever looked up to see if it existed was this. Very cool to see it finally happen :)
Neeccc 6 Feb, 2023 @ 1:12pm
Ill be so happy once this is updated. I didn't realize how much difference it makes until now

suggestion for 1.4 version of the other mod you are making, make it that the skin colours can be added modified in xenotypes,
because I think it would be nice for colonists to inherent a variety of skin colours to bring variety

Can confirm that I safely removed this mod and that it was "More Colors" that caused the save game break. You can safely remove this mod if it's still in your 1.4 save.

Thank you to @Lugaru for making a mod that helped diversify representation in the Rim it's a shame it's been replaced by a new game feature. I think you were actually the first person to create this kind of mod in my 4+ years of playing.

Don't let this discourage you from making new content :luv:

Removing this mod might break my game in 1.4. Stupid of me to enable it even though it's 1.3. Just a warning for all those with the mod in their 1.4 save.

Obviously, all my colonists are white and I've only just clocked this, so. (facepalm)
Azurel Morningstar 14 Nov, 2022 @ 10:42pm
that does sound cool
DisKorruptd 11 Nov, 2022 @ 11:13pm
I actually have an idea for a way to handle 1.4's system,

What about the idea of having pawns spawn with two skin genotypes perhaps with a chance of a third, and averaging between their available tones (including the possibility to pick the same twice, in which case, they just spawn with the one gene)
Then Xenotypes would overwrite wholesale, but then if you have multiple xenotypes, you'd average those again, so like, a pink and a blue xenotype would end up creating a lavender pawn

@chemicplosion I think for 1.4 I will update 'default humans' to have a large variety of skin genes and I've been experimenting with eye colors and other stuff. More to come.
chemicplosion 26 Oct, 2022 @ 2:09pm
I hope you find a way to successfully port this, or something similar, over to functioning with biotech/1.4, I love this mod and the diversity it adds to the game
Lugaru  [author] 15 Oct, 2022 @ 8:43am
The melanin system has completely gone away / changed for 1.4 so for the time being this will remain a 1.3 only mod.
Lugaru  [author] 11 Oct, 2022 @ 6:14am
Just waiting on the DLC because I suspect it might make changes to character generation, skin, etc.
brucethemoose 10 Oct, 2022 @ 8:44pm
1.4?
Lugaru  [author] 27 Jun, 2022 @ 4:14pm
HAR already allows eye colors and such... I was working on a HAR like 'better humans' mod but I kind of lost steam. I can send you some of the work I did maybe gonna message you.
OdysseyLotus 27 Jun, 2022 @ 2:54pm
Hi! I was wondering if you know if it would be possible to add a secondary color channel to humans, similar to some HAR mods (like Seren , my own HAR mod, for example) or some pieces of furniture (to my knowledge, at least).
I ask because I am creating a mod that adds custom masks to popular head retextures, and since many of those have irises, I wanted to add different eye colors through a secondary color channel for humans.
If you'd be interested or willing to help since I'm not that good at coding, I'd be happy to pay you commission for your coding work and make you a co-author on my mod when I post it. I understand if you aren't interested though, I just wanted to throw that out there in advance. I appreciate you reading this!
Lugaru  [author] 15 Jun, 2022 @ 4:28pm
Yoann yeah that is my impression it is just declared as .5 at some point.
Yoann 13 Jun, 2022 @ 10:25pm
In practice <centralMelanin>0.1</centralMelanin> doesn't correspond to any field in type FactionDef.
Elth 13 Jun, 2022 @ 3:09pm
@Yoann Oh LOL
Lugaru  [author] 13 Jun, 2022 @ 9:45am
In theory you can maybe add a centralmelanin tag like <centralmelanin>0.1</centralmelanin> to a faction because I think it does get floated and that would mean they start super white and then apply genetic variance. Or .9 would go in the other direction. I might experiment.
Lugaru  [author] 13 Jun, 2022 @ 9:37am
So it looks like 2 things are at play... Central Melanin and Genetic Variance. The range ends up being Central Melanin (usually .5) + and - genetic variance (so if it is .1 that would be .4 to .6). If I can find out the central melanin and manipulate it then you can have a lot of control over the average color of your faction (from mole men to afro futurists).
Yoann 13 Jun, 2022 @ 6:24am
Thank you for your answer.

This node is already set at 0.1 for NPC tribes, it's the variance of skin color inside a same faction, but we can't choose the base color for the faction this way (easy to see by playing with player faction and randomise pawns).
Lugaru  [author] 13 Jun, 2022 @ 5:30am
FACTIONDEF -> <geneticVariance>0.1</geneticVariance>
Yoann 12 Jun, 2022 @ 10:11pm
@Elth ???
I want the mole men faction to be white as ass by never saw the sun.
Elth 12 Jun, 2022 @ 2:12pm
@Yoann oh god....
Yoann 1 Jun, 2022 @ 1:48am
Do you know a way to set the melanin level by Backstory or by faction please?
Asterai 31 May, 2022 @ 1:13am
Yeah, I'm not looking for rainbow hair dyes, I'm looking for a reasonable range of human variation.

My go-to mod for many aspects of that used to be Facial Stuff, but they're... probably not updating anymore.

But here you are with a realistic range of skin colors! Mods and modders are sure great.
Lugaru  [author] 19 May, 2022 @ 4:25am
I will take a look and see if there is any space for improvement. I've seen mods that vastly increase the number of colors, but maybe a curated selection would add value.
Asterai 18 May, 2022 @ 8:57pm
Any chance of adding a similarly realistic palette of hair colors?
Kydsh 8 Apr, 2022 @ 4:19am
:steamhappy:
Lugaru  [author] 8 Apr, 2022 @ 4:09am
@Castor safe to add and remove does not generate any data just patches the color choices.
Kydsh 8 Apr, 2022 @ 3:44am
save to add & remove from midgame?
Soldier 76 7 Apr, 2022 @ 11:58pm
Pretty tame for Rimworld if you ask me...
Kyokui Avarus 7 Apr, 2022 @ 9:58am
Oh my god of course there already is a mod for that. This is the rimworld community after all.
Lugaru  [author] 7 Apr, 2022 @ 5:00am
A mod already exists, search Diversity and Discrimination.
Gebirgsjäger 6 Apr, 2022 @ 11:30pm
I wonder if that would even be possible.
Kyokui Avarus 6 Apr, 2022 @ 11:25pm
You think you can add a precept to ideology that can discriminate based on melanin level?
asking for a friend.
Luviam 4 Apr, 2022 @ 6:17pm
Exceptionally small, but it's nice and should be in the base game.
Lugaru  [author] 4 Apr, 2022 @ 2:19pm
@Codytest the humanoid races mod bypasses melanin based skin system so Green Aliens will still be Green for example.
codytest 4 Apr, 2022 @ 11:21am
How does this work with the humanoid races mod?
Aþi 3 Apr, 2022 @ 11:20pm
Finally! Variety for my human leather hats and apparel!
MxCheeseSauce 3 Apr, 2022 @ 3:06pm
Thank you!! I love more variety in my pawns :)
RoboSpongie 3 Apr, 2022 @ 8:53am

Uma Musume: Pretty Derby 3 Apr, 2022 @ 12:32am
