Thanks for this mate!
Is there any way to set 'spotlight' or other function to sound alarm and have guard close gate? Or door?
I could even make do with a 'close door after walking through' so turret guards can't somehow be ambushed (and limb cut off by starving bandit?!?!? WTF?? what was everyone doing to let green get beat like this?) while base defenders get skipped without consequence
**sigh** Im busy with dungeon raids. Can't yall just be competent at home for 5 mins? XD
About the placement, yeah, I don't like it much either due to it being the kind of graphic it is. You can push "+" which helps, but there are simply some places where it gets hidden by floors or by environment textures.
Yeah, if I had graphical skill I would have made it a colored dot or rug or something. By the way, I've never heard of the "attack enemies" assigning. Does that work? I'll try and see if it works. That's a great tip.
Minor gripe is the placement on ground can suck finding a spot it doesn't clip into the terrain.
I double checked my own mod - the stairs I checked worked fine, but maybe it is certain buildings you can't build by the stairs in general. I don't know.
I checked out if you can alter something to allow you to build on top of a gate floor, but I can't tell what to switch around. I also tried to add functionality to a gate itself, but it seems that if it's going to be a gate, it can't be anything else. I also tried to look at how the Shek Guards thing works, which has no info on nodes or anything - which means the behavior is simply AI generated/controlled.
I am not sure if this can be improved.
Guardpost has some limitations.. i'm using only the carpet and can't place it everywhere (not on gates, not close to some stairs, not on some buildings parts etc) So i was just expecting (!) a new mod to cover that..
Sorry if my previous comments sounded.. nasty or something. Didn't meant it.
After looking at the mod page for Guardpost, the only thing I think I don't like is that the post is tied to a piece of furniture game world. Two separate ones at that.
Even though Idle Stands bundles Guard Post and idle activities, I would rather be able to just plop down a marker without building a torch or actual carpet. But to each their own.
I was in very brief contact with the person who kept that mod going on the Kenshi Facebook group. I forget his name at this moment (Mod: Idle Stands).
If you like someone else's mod that is older or better or what have you, then by all means use their mod. This was something I hadn't come across in the workshop, but had independently been thinking about.
