Is the Wolven weapons supposed to be replacing Meitou weapons?

Merry christmas

Finally got it done. :) posted it, just look for Hung Crafted Swords and it will need this mod of course to work. Thanks super much to Trinity and Hung Buddy who let me put the crafting mod together.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year out there! :)
Take care,

Well... It has taken much longer than a few days, but I have gotten both the Damascus and the Wolven blades to produce. Also I found out the skill and the light used to make the blade count alot. Poor light, even with a skilled weapon maker can ruin a blade and make it junk.

So, now I have to go back in and put the requirements back in. So player will need books to produce a certain level of blade, ancient books to produce a higher level and AI Cores to produce the highest. (I think Edgewalkers need AI Cores too, but will double check) Anyway, I am close to finishing and should be done soon. I won't say a few days, because that didn't prove true the first time, but we are almost there.
:)
Take care and I hope to post something soon.

Note - Still working on the mod, I am up to level 74 and have gotten to Edgewalker 1 class, just 2 and then 3 and then Hung. It has taken awhile, but I wanted to be absolutely sure it would work, before letting it out there, so hope everybody is okay with how long it is taking. Have a good one, My guess is another few days then I can post it and I'll know that the crafting works all the way through to Hung.
Thanks for the patience.

Ah Trinity, thank you for the note, but I think I got it figured out. At least a guess. I think the damascus variant lists first because it is the lower blade level, and I think the wolven will unlock when I actually get my character to that level in crafting. I am up to 54 so far, and MK1 blades. Just MK2 and then Edgewalker 1 and 2 and then I should reach Hung level. So sometime tomorrow I am guessing. Anyway the color changes see to reflect the level of what we are crafting, lots of rusted crap in the beginning and then getting better, when I got to Catun 2 the blades were starting to look very nice. Not as nice as Hung, but still very nice.
I'll let you know what happens and thank you for the feedback. Take care and be back tomorrow.

Maybe if you could experiment with my damascus manufacturer , you'll have more luck figuring things out, if you still need to, it's got many skins and 3 tiers, spread around the world based on rarity
Trinity  [author] 7 Sep, 2022 @ 6:36pm
Can you send some pictures, also my problem that I stopped on was literally how you described it, you'll get to the max number of repetitions, I guess, and it'll only craft that, it won't even craft the others set to the same.

I've never seen what I think you're talking about, skins made from a smiting bench that are random colors or mixed with other textures

Part 2 -

So What I think I am seeing is a progression from lousy fabricator to a more skilled fabricator and a color change as the models go up.

I think what is going to happen is eventually the character will get to Hung model quality and the colors will reflect that.
Also, I am assuming at some point the Wolvern blades will become available. Perhaps when I get to Hung and can make the Damascus blades with some proficiency. :)
Anyway, I will try to verify this and if so, then in a day or two, I can release the patch to your mod, knowing that the crafting works. :)

Part 1 -

Okay, think I am understanding what is going on now. I have to verify this with a wiki, but I went into the hung smithing research list and saw the 7 5 and 5 5 available and override levels for the Damascus and the Wolven blades.
I kept making weapons, guardless katana's and planks, a moon cleaver and a fragment axe and noticed the skill level on my character going up as I kept making weapons.
Character has made about 6 weapons now and is at 21 skill level. Also, model jumped to Old Fitted Blade from Rusted Junk. And the color changed to blue with a trace of orange. :)
Teal 7 Sep, 2022 @ 8:23am
Part 2 -

Second problem is the Damascus blades, a plank and guardless katana are orangey brown, instead of the silver metal-ish that the pictures on your page show them.
I have started twice, thinking I had referenced the wrong sets of textures, but re-checked and they refer to the correct folders in your mod that hold the textures. I am a little at a loss as to how to proceed from here.
How to find the Wolvern version? And how to get the correct colors?
I thought perhaps my resolution in game was low and not displaying properly, but when I check the in-game settings, it looks okay. I run no color presets or anything like that, just the game on an HP all-in-one with a Ryzen 3 CPU and AMD Radeon GPU. Which I think should give me standard resolutions and colors.
Any ideas as to what I am overlooking or missing?

Thanks,
Teal

Part 1 -

Okay, followup, I've been at this a few days. I haven't done weapon crafting except a little, so this was a learning experience. I am referencing the dds textures that are in your mod, and putting them in the advanced grade and advanced smithing benches. I listed them as 4 5 and 5 5 for the appear and override levels (which I don't quite understand) When I go into the game and build the bench I get a workbench 3 ( I have researched everything all the way to level 6 at the end of level 5.
My problem is two things,
The Damascus blades are the only ones that appear. No Wolven versions (I think this has something to do with the appearance repetition, but I don't know what to do about it if I have completed all the research.
Teal 5 Sep, 2022 @ 7:40am
p.s. I agree with what you said about the weapons being rare and only in the hands of a few. I think maybe having the crafting in the hands of the player only means the player will be able to craft them. Hopefully not by the dozens, but I don't see a way to control that. If we offer it up for crafting then we kind of let the player do what they want, meaning making an army of them or making them for sale and profit.
But does the NPC's really buy and use such things? I thought their buying was to support player outposts and that the vendors were there for players buying and selling. The NPC's just seem to get what they have via the game lists. But I am guessing. Anyway, I agree with your trying to keep the rarity of the famous blades intact. :)

@Trinity, Thank you for the help, I will ask Hung Buddy if it is okay to use those weapons in crafting and see if I can put the patch together and get the crafting to work. Appreciate the help. I'll get back and let you know how it goes.
Thanks very much again,
Teal

This version can be considered like a rare find, powerful manufacturer drop. You can even make versions where it's common and mid-grade, whatever you'd want. It's just that they are two well-made skins and I like the idea of only some having them.
Trinity  [author] 5 Sep, 2022 @ 3:20am
I'll link your patch
Trinity  [author] 5 Sep, 2022 @ 3:19am
I'd say get permission from hung buddy, I didn't really do much. You got my go ahead, initally, however, so I don't mind.
Teal 4 Sep, 2022 @ 9:17pm
I was able to patch the Hung mfg weapons, but only in a test. I am not real acquainted with the research area. But I found a work around by making the area where the buildings are available the same and not staggered.

I would need two things in order to go forward, permission from Trinity to make the patch and post it, and of course to see if I can work out adding it to the advanced weapons crafting list.

I was able to make a start and have the character start with the damascus blade and a wolven texture on a guardless katana. But that start bypasses the research by enabling the weapons from the start, which I didn't think Trinity or people in general would appreciate. So, getting the crafting to work is the best option.
Please let me know how to proceed. Appreciate the time and very beautiful blades by the way, :)

Ah ok, thanks. I was grinding my gears trying to craft it, when I should have been looking for them out in the world. Thanks Teal for being willing to check into it!
Teal 28 Aug, 2022 @ 4:18pm
Ahhh.... that is cool. :) But probably takes awhile to find someone with such a rare weapon. But maybe that was the intent. Still cool to have it in the game. Thank you for the info. :)
Trinity  [author] 28 Aug, 2022 @ 2:23pm
I mean that it's added to shops and whatever, it's a rare skin and very powerful. I don't remember if you can research it, but I do know that regardless I can't figure out crafting things, so you probably can't craft it even though I might have set it up to be like that. It's in the artifact lists. You find the weapons on people.
Teal 27 Aug, 2022 @ 5:55pm
I work in the morning, but let me look at it and see if I can see how to get the weapons, okay?
But if someone comes along before I get back that could work for you too.
You would just get an answer quicker. :)
Blightloaf 24 Aug, 2022 @ 6:33am
So I subscribed, and researched up through 5 levels of "Hung Weapons".... and then nothing. No further research available, no new smithing station available to make the weapons, the new weapon types don't appear as an option at my existing weaponsmithing bench III. Is the mod broken? How do I get the weapons?
Blightloaf 22 Aug, 2022 @ 4:33am
So when you say "adds a new manufacturer," do you mean this adds a shop in the world that sells the weapons? Or that you craft them yourself after researching? Or maybe both? Neither? Does it add them to artifact lists? The skins look great and I'm interested in the mod, but description is super vague as to how you get your hands on them in-game.
