I love crazy moves like this. I also love the setup with how the funnel travels twice through the portals and the clever detail with the cube that it flies over the button in the exit area when you don’t have the null portal. Truely a clever and neat use of this quirky mechanic. Amazing work! (I also now played almost through your entire Workshop and really love most of it, I just don’t comment that often.)

@Arreic997
Thanks a lot! I'm pretty proud at how creative this one is indeed, glad you liked it!
@Mattchew
Thanks again for the very kind words, and for going through my workshop as well, by the way! Always a joy to hear such enthusiasm :)
@chixenlegjo
That can happen, but even if you stumbled on it by accident, you still had to figure out for yourself how to use it, so good job to you! And thanks for playing!
@mentallentil
Wow, second fav map says a lot! Thank you so much for playing and for leaving comments!
mentallentil 14 Jan @ 7:26pm
I admit the more creative moves took me a long while to work out, but it was well worth the time. In particular, the bootstrap and "funnel loop" thing took me the longest. It seems I had not anticipated that much use of the angled panel. From what I've played, this is my second favourite map in your workshop (isotope still the best :love_seagull:). Faved!
chixenlegjo 22 Dec, 2024 @ 11:33am
I found the the big move completely by accident when I placed a portal while attempting to go trough normally and just happened to put it in the perfect place for it for the funnel to pass through twice. I actually thought it was a bug at first because I didn't see it enter twice[\spoiler]. I solved it quite quickly due to that, but it was a great puzzle anyway.
Mattchew 15 Jul, 2024 @ 10:01pm
Fascinating map this one! I'm not usually into the crazier ideas for maps, but my this one was so good! Great logic to it all. I must admit I was stuck on one of the last moves for a while, and I did find it on accident, but its so funny I cannot be mad. It was really cool! The respawn+null portal sequence at the very end was beautiful. The track platform in this map is also well done. Faved!

Marvellous map! Really puzzled me for quite a while. Hoping to see more maps with such unmatchable innovative ideas!:steamthumbsup:

@SpielSatzFail
Hmm, I'm pretty sure it IS possible though, albeit quite painful. But yeah, it's still a shame that it's the only way of getting out of that situation in your screenshot
@Mikeastro
Unconventional is definitely the word to describle the main moves of the map, I can understand you had trouble thinking about them at all. Still thank you for giving it a go and appreciating it nonetheless! I can promise you my next puzzle will be much more conventional :P
Mikeastro 9 Sep, 2023 @ 10:33am
Very clever map; in fact, too clever for me. For some reason, I fare really poorly when the map requires novel interactions; call me an old man, but I can really only work out conventional logic :] Hunting for tricks is not my style, but I can appreciate a good one when it is shown to me. This was one of those cases; very well made, big thumbs up :D
SpielSatzFail 2 Sep, 2023 @ 8:22am
Good news, I changed my mind. It's a thumbs up now :-)
But there's one more thing. You said stepping through the angled portal is tough (and not needed). Which is true. I say it's impossible and that's why this is a softlock.
Leo  [author] 1 Sep, 2023 @ 2:15pm
@SpielSatzFail
Fair enough. As I said when replying to your comment on Lift, I believe the creative nature of that move still makes it interesting and worth showcasing, but of course I knew it could be considered questionable.
SpielSatzFail 1 Sep, 2023 @ 11:10am
Lots of clever moves, I was able to find the intended solution, but unfortunately the twist or whatever you call it is too unusual imo; almost felt like cheating.
I'll leave it a neutral.
Leo  [author] 5 Jul, 2023 @ 3:30am
@可砸
Thank you for the nice words! Your video is all perfectly intended, it's just that you could have left the track platform a bit further from the ledge to get a better view at the portal surface. Glad you enjoyed the ideas showcased here!
可砸 5 Jul, 2023 @ 2:33am
Excellent map! I'm not sure if it's all correct,but the funnel tricks came very quickly in my mind,because since I was working on the my second map last year, I had the same idea of the angle panel, but I finally gave up (just kept the thumbnails), I'm glad to see it on your map, and it's implemented very elegantly, admire the work very much, I really enjoyed that, thanks for creating!:p2cube:

After trying around for a long time i had to watch a solution video only to find out a move that i thought was unintended was in fact intended after that it went smoothly :)
cnh2r 2 Feb, 2023 @ 2:32pm
Another very good puzzle. Had me stumped for a long time.
horse 1 Nov, 2022 @ 2:46pm
Very cool, loved the twist!
Aneonen 12 Sep, 2022 @ 10:40pm
Nice puzzle! I spent some time working out the end sequence at the beginning of the solving process, so the big deduction for me was discovering how conveniently the laser and the angled panel could work together.
nerdlingnation 28 Jul, 2022 @ 10:56pm
Very nice. I remember attempting this map a while back and not solving it. This time around I got it. The moment I figured out how to get the cube to the laser source the rest fell into place in just a few minutes.
BehindPortal 28 Jul, 2022 @ 1:02am
excellent and clever puzzle. when i reach exit area i figure out the key to exit in Null portal but getting how was fun. most of ur puzzle i cant solve but i found this one doable for me. fav :p2cube::steamthumbsup:
molecules du mal 3 Jul, 2022 @ 4:22am
I got stuck on the last step and did this. Then I checked Joric's solution and was super confused lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KdHFf5CL3Q
lapicidas 28 Jun, 2022 @ 8:38am
Excellent :steamhappy:took some time until I worked it out :steamthumbsup::steamthumbsup:

@Oblivious Owl
Ha, that happens sometimes. You were able to take the better of it, so good job!

Wow, great map! I had no idea what to do and then found the ending move by accident. :steamfacepalm:

@Spider_Dawg
Ah I see, I thought you were saying that you tried placing your portals in those positions, but that for some reason the funnel didn't enter twice the portal, or something like that. To be honest, I classified the map as a 5/10 difficulty because of that move alone, which can be tricky to see indeed!
Spider_Dawg 5 May, 2022 @ 7:16am
To be clear, I only tried placing the portals on either end of that row of portal surfaces and moved on to something else. The gimmick never occurred to me and I eventually gave up and watched Joric's video. After that I went back and saw how and why it works. I don't know why I never thought of it, since I've seen the same concept many times with lasers . In other words, the design was awesome and my skill is not.
Leo  [author] 5 May, 2022 @ 3:36am
@DiDo Killer!
Ah, unfortunate. It sure is peculiar, and I knew it wouldn't be for everyone. Still, thanks for giving it a go!
@Spider_Dawg
Unfortunate as well that it seems like it didn't line up properly for you... That's honestly a bit suprising, because even though it can definitely be considered questionable, at least I made sure to make it as consistent as possible... Anyway, you sound like you liked it overall, thank you for playing and for leaving a comment!
Spider_Dawg 4 May, 2022 @ 6:39pm
Ouch! I had everything, right up to the "possibly slightly questionable" part, which I doubt I would have ever figured out on my own. Whenever I shot a portal "in there" the funnel came out on too much of an angle to do any good , so I dismissed it. Probably the most clever use of a null portal I've seen, I'm going to call that sneak play a double-reverse . Great puzzle, thanks for creating, and thanks to the more clever players for the solution videos.
DiDo Killer! 30 Apr, 2022 @ 5:46pm
The angled funnel setup and the portal shot that was available with the platform slightly off position felt unintended so I had to watch Joric's video just to realize it was all intended. I guess this one just wasn't for me
Leo  [author] 30 Apr, 2022 @ 9:46am
@hub
Thank you very much for your dedication and for the comment!
@Teo
Yeah, that twist being too obvious was a concern of mine initially. That's why I made it so that jthe surface you need to hit to get it isn't directly facing the exit area, but is facing a wall instead. And indeed, the reason why it's necessary is a bit subtle. Anyway thanks for playing and for the nice words :D
@SpKi
Haha if you love it, I guess I can get away with it being a little cursed! Thanks for playing and for the fav!
SpKi 27 Apr, 2022 @ 2:34pm
Cool stuff, that ending move is cursed and I love it (also just took way too long for me to get), I'll add that to my favorites.
Teo 27 Apr, 2022 @ 1:26pm
Really cool map, Leo! Great use of this type of track platform: I liked having to move it to certain locations to get portal angles or create a walkway . The reason for the main move is also not super obvious which I enjoyed. That is definitely the part that held me up the longest. Creative stuff, thanks for making it :D
hub 27 Apr, 2022 @ 12:39pm
:cupup: Cool map! :vote_yes:

@jandlml
Thanks a lot, and congrats on solving it!
@Joric
Perfect solution, thank you for the video!
@bullfrog
Thanks for playing and for the nice words! A bit unfortunate that this particular sequence didn't click, but yeah it can be tricky
bullfrog 26 Apr, 2022 @ 12:28am
Excellent puzzle, :steamthumbsup: and added to favourites. I worked out the end sequence after a while, but, like @jandlml, I couldn't think how to "get the cube to the laser" so I watched @Joric's first video :steamsad: very clever.
Joric 25 Apr, 2022 @ 11:19am
I did quickrun https://youtu.be/6AEtmGhaILs the platform maybe slightly overused even.
jandlml 25 Apr, 2022 @ 10:03am
excellent map! great use of funnel portal placement. :steamhappy:
Leo  [author] 25 Apr, 2022 @ 7:48am
@Tom
No problem at all! It's a perfectly valid move, I would prevent it if it really was an issue
Frigga 25 Apr, 2022 @ 3:14am
@Leo sorry about that. i admit that doing so just to save some time to record the video. and after the beginning part i dont think i could do it anymore
Leo  [author] 25 Apr, 2022 @ 3:05am
@Narkodes
Nice to hear you liked that sneaky move! Indeed, you skipped large parts of the solution so thanks for bringing that to my attention! It's now fixed!
@jandlml
Joric's video shows the intended way to achieve that. However, if you don't want to get spoiled, I'll simply say that this is where the move shown in the intro room comes into play. Let me know if you need more hints!
@Tom
Apart from the funnel climbing/spamming at the beginning (which again, doesn't really skip anything so it's fine), everything is intended indeed! Great job!
@Joric
I'd argue it IS a bit unusual. Not necessarily questionable, although it probably is as well, for some people. Yeah I'm aware you can place an off-centered portal on the angled panel to sneak back through it, but as far as I'm aware it doesn't break anything
Joric 25 Apr, 2022 @ 2:05am
Btw appears you can sneak back through the angled funnel but it doesn't affect the solution.
Joric 25 Apr, 2022 @ 2:02am
God damn it, so close. You threw me off with "unusual" (possibly slightly questionnable) move that's not unusual at all.
Frigga 25 Apr, 2022 @ 1:48am
does it all intended? https://youtu.be/P9E3T-4snsA
Joric 25 Apr, 2022 @ 12:07am
@jandlml I kind of know how to get what you want but I have no idea what to do next https://youtu.be/upu90UpfNdU
jandlml 24 Apr, 2022 @ 10:12pm
i feel like i know the solution but i cant figure out how to get the cube to the laser.
Narkodes 24 Apr, 2022 @ 5:18pm
Fun chamber, I really like the twist. It took me a hile to get the first real move.
Not quite sure if I skipped something, the track platform felt a bit underused and more like an excuse to have the catcher's opposite portal surface :-P Thumbs up! :yoku2:
Leo  [author] 24 Apr, 2022 @ 1:46pm
@Dark Rozen
Ha, nice one! And yeah, some quality of life improvement have been made thanks to your playtest!
@gurkin4
Lol, nice find I guess! I'll leave your youtube video unrated as well.
