Relations go down if your opponent dies after you've fought them, as well as using the [Attack Target] command, but retaliating doesn't hurt your relations very much.
I also recommend another mod called "Improve Relations Through Healing".
If your relations are not this bad, try hiding around until another group of bandits beats them up and leaves. If you keep your distance during this, the starving bandits will not become hostile toward you, and you'll have a chance to use the features in this mod. Basically, you may need to sneak up on these guys to keep them from attacking you on sight.
I just updated the UPK, which also includes the bugfix you added in your mod. Thanks again for letting me include it!
I was wondering if I may include your vanilla bug fix you mention in this mod in the Unofficial Patches for Kenshi mod I'm working on? All credit will go to you for the original fix.
