Devs have already balanced all weapons,
so feel free to pick up whatever you feel right.
Some of them firearms may have lower Damage, slower Fire rate or slower Reload speed but guess what, you have a friends and Bots to fill up that small small weakness ^^
"Play it because it's fun" that's it.
And for Veterans, use it as Data Warehouse or whatever you preferred ^^
You can one shot a Witch by doing a well-timed Shotgun headshot on her. It's called 'Crowning'. Please actually research stuff before complaining.
2.this tutorial says shotguns are good against witches and shows that they do 1000 damage and that she has 1000 health
3.wtf are you talking about stunning tanks to make them only throw like i've never had to do that ever and googling it doesnt show me what it is
tutorial should teach more than first done dead centre, don't you think?
all the info could be obtained after first compain of game.
wiki has numbers of weapon (even ttk of tank with each weapon) and infected.
as it said - nice idea, poor realization
Glad you enjoyed! Fair points, but I'm pretty sure the game tells you with on-screen prompts that you can melee Hunter, Smoker, and Jockey pins when they happen. In general, I tried to avoid information that was too obvious or explained by the in-game HUD messages. I didn't want to fill players' heads with too much info at once, hence why so much stuff is optional.
Thanks for the review! Your feedback will be passed along through the appropriate channels
Length: very long (took us 3 hours on easy difficulty)
Difficulty: 10/10 (died 6 times per chapter)
I just want to say, this map is very, very hard. you really need to tone down the number of zombies because it was so scary we could hardly play it. also you should remove those things idk i forgot what theyre called, witches, i think, because she hit me and i died that was quite traumatising
To repeat myself from an older comment: crouch jumping is almost non-existent in Left 4 Dead. A standard jump already propels you 56 units upward, and the extra height from a crouch jump is less than 1 full unit of in-game distance. Realistically, you will never need it unless you're a speedrunner.
Keep in mind this is a tutorial, not an encyclopedia. Getting players familiar with the basics so they can finish a campaign and enjoy themselves is the number one priority. I'm aware of almost every niche mechanic and subtle intricacy in Left 4 Dead at this point -- I just don't think new players need to learn such minor details to be helpful teammates.
Frankly, I'd say the tutorial is a little bloated as is! There's a reason most of the content is optional
Advanced part had me quite disappointed as it had info that IMO should've been in the beginner section. The biggest things you've missed out explaining are the AI bots - their behaviour, the special conditions they have set by the game (e.g half-damage in Spitter acid, unable to trigger car alarms with their own bullets) as well as more stuff like:
- being unable to be picked up if attacked by horde
- importance of laser sights
- crouch jumping (yes, I am serious)
- sharing supplies
It's not IGN levels of bad, but it could be better
Wood Shotgun: 25 damage times 10 pellets (250), low accuracy
Chrome Shotgun: 31 damage times 8 pellets (248), high accuracy
Benelli Autoshotgun: 23 damage times 11 pellets (253), low accuracy
SPAS Autoshotgun: 28 damage times 9 pellets (252), medium accuracy
The max possible damage between all four shotguns is very similar. However, it's easier to do more damage at close range with the Wood/Benelli, and it's easier to do more damage at mid range with the Chrome/SPAS.
Basically, the Wood/Benelli are better for crowds and close range. The Chrome/SPAS are better for single targets and mid range.
In hindsight I could've explained this better in the map itself. Oh well
this map is helpful
You planning to do a "sequel" where you practice playing the Special Infected?
Like a obstacle course for Hunter/Jockey jumping, or aim practice for Tank rock throws or Spitting, or some trivia of when to attack and how the SI synergize.
Bless you, I could not find any stats online or in the game files that matched my in-game testing. I think you're right, something changes the cvars so they're not exact.
If I ever get around to it, I'll update this tutorial and credit you in the patch notes
• the minigun deals damage based on cvars, the damage per shot is equal to (z_minigun_damage_rate / z_minigun_rate_of_fire) , so by default it deals 32 damage per shot.
• the minigun has a rate of fire based on the z_minigun_rate_of_fire cvar, however the amounts of shots per a second is NOT just (z_minigun_rate_of_fire / 60) like the wiki says, something else is reducing it by roughly 75% that I have yet to discover, so the in-game rate of fire is ~6.25, resulting in a true dps of ~200.
• the mounted mg has the same spread as the minigun (uses the same cvar).
I would recommend this to any Left 4 Dead 2 Newbies/Rookies.
I didn't know some weapons have different preferences like low or high damage.
It was a tough decision, but I intentionally avoided mentioning any specific buttons/keys because L4D2 has fully customizable controls and I didn't want to accidentally confuse someone. Also, the Witch slide in the green room specifically says, and I quote, "Use fire or shotguns for best results"
