Time to competition depends on how much time I've got, and how motivated I am; so, we'll see.
Ill fix the cyrpto: I thought it was at like 2015.
I am a full time student who also has a great part time job; so, Ive barely got any time to work on my passion projects.
Compute isnt getting support anymore unless the mod breaks completely, the sequel to this is what I have been working on and its pretty freakin cool. When I have time to I will continue working on that, I am too far out to promise a release date, but a ton of the basics are complete.
Agree with @Jack's observations.
Also seems to do funny things in the market when there's like 1 company with 400 products and a few others with 100.
@reddichpflanzer
I dont understand exactly what you mean but you can edit all the code of this mod and do whatever you want with it to add your own OS. Althought I would love to add an OS dependency, Software inc doesnt allow you to add a Dependency if that item doesnt have the programming categories. For example the Computer has the 'hardware' specialization and the computer os doesnt. A workaround to this is to edit the OS, but when you do that you beak compatibility with amazing mods like Expanse, so I elected not to do it. (Ignore the spelling errors its 2am and im tired <3)
Is there a way, that I could add my own OS (or another OS) to a "All In One" Computer (Type => Computer, Category => All In One)?
I mean that I must add under "Dependencies" an OS.
Im so glad you guys are still enjoying this mod.
Since I had factory reset my computer around 6 months I have lost all the source code so this version can no longer be updated. I wish there would be a better way to show that my next mod (Computer Workshop) is coming soon! Im done with school and Ive got a ton of freetime.
Expecting to complete it before or during July.
My next project is still in development and that has NOT ended
It may be a few months before release. But if anyone is willing to help in any regards to ideas, modeling, etc hit me up on discord:
tsarry or Tsar#9999!
Ive noticed the same issue.
This mod is currently not receiving support from myself anymore.
During my free time ive been working on an entire overhaul of this which goes way more in to depth its way more balanced and has proper hardware designs. I honestly don't have much time for modding software inc as life continues to get in the way. But it still holds a place in my heart <3.
Is there a way to reduce the number of companies that this mod adds? It like quadruples the amount.
Yes you can :)
All computer parts you make can be used in the final production of your computer.
1. Inside the .tyd you should find near the top, OSSupport. Currently it should be set to
OSSupport [Computer; Console I recommend deleting that entire line of code.
2. OR if you still want a slight OS Dependency simply remove the COMPUTER; including the semi colon, from the Brackets.
I hope this works.
Trouble Shooting Steps:
-Make sure OverrideOS.tyd is gone from Compute
-Duplicate Expanses' OS into Compute,
- if that doesn't work.. REMOVE Expanses' OS from Compute, make sure it's still in the Expanse mod & Completly Remove the line of Code OSSupport from Computer.tyd inside Compute
Please tell me if this works. If not ill make an expansion mod of this that guarantees compatibility.
Only issue is some players may not enable Expanse and they won't have the full Computer options. To counter this I can post "USE WITH EXPANSE FOR ALL FEATURES"; or something similar, in the description.
I think I'll try out having the Same OS as Expanse, and if it ends up working quite well I'll keep it. However, I'd also like to try out removing the OS Dependency from the Computers and adding a new Software the OS Compatibility Engine and the Computer will instead, be dependent on this.
Look forward to one of these changes in the next week or so!
Currently as I added "Computers" To my mod they are operating system dependent but they also have the "Hardware" specialization that you can develop. And since the default Operating System doesn't utilize the Hardware Specialization software inc prevent me from making the Computer Operating system dependent. To get past this I slightly modified the Default OS to add the Hardware Specialization to allow for computers to have an OS Dependency.
The issue with this is for Expanse it also changes The operating system and both our mods change it in different ways. And you can't have 1 OS being 2 different things.
Currently I can think of 2 fixes. First one is messaging Expanse's developer so I can have the exact same OS as his mod so they no longer conflict. Second thing I could do is remove the Computers operating System dependency.
What do you think would work best?
Have the changes and additions in v2 made it absolutely necessary to prevent being able to select both Compute and Expanse to play with when starting a new game? Seems unfortunate to have to choose between them when they both add such brilliant stuff to the game.
Cheers :-)
I just released the update :) !
I don't think I can truly show my appreciation; but I love getting feedback!
I'm almost entirely done with the Compute V2 Update! This will allow for you to make computers etc etc.
And since you've given the feedback now I can make sure to fit it in the update.
Right now here's are my plans.
For things like Thermal Paste both Liquid Metal & Zinc Compounds now have Hardware Manufacturing, Zinc is easier and cheaper, Liquid Metal is Harder and more Expensive.
Also Ram & Vram will follow in the same Connotation, Vram will be much cheaper & easier to producer, Additionally, it will also have less consume market share. Ram will stay the same.
Also VRAM won't have a hardware "Design" as it's quite small.
I actually think I can release this update Sometime This week so Expect a massive Change!
I know I could potentially just not make the software ones and ignore them but idk... then other companies still making free money haha, it will still be in the back of my mind.
The game is easy enough as it is already anyway, so getting an early head-start will make get even quicker to the endgame, which is honestly the most tedious and boring part of software inc.
I appreciate your feedback!
The reason things like RAM has a counter Part Vram as software is to make the beginning game much easier. So you can develop these products for some starting money at the beginning before you can afford manufacturing products!
