Can you add a mechanic that, yes or yes, you need the crosshair to close completely for the shot to hit? (that is, if you shoot before the crosshair closes, you don't hit the shot, forcing you to wait yes or yes, which would make the aim level more feasible the faster it closes) because even if the crosshair didn't even start to close and I shot, I hit the zombie on many occasions with level 1, could you do that? , that you have to wait for it to close completely in order to hit the shot, and if you shoot before time you miss completely

Great mod, thanks!

One doubt though: what is this noise fix?
mezz  [author] 18 Dec, 2024 @ 12:08am
I will probably not play 42 properly until it hits stable, I've just been going over my mods to see which ones broke. With DOTL I feel there isn't a point in porting it as is, it was a response to how I felt about guns in v41 and now they seem to work different. If I end up being unhappy with v42 guns I would probably just make a new mod altogether, rather than updating this one.
Rabbitowitz 17 Dec, 2024 @ 5:50pm
@mezz If thats how you feel, thats understandable. However, I know some people that didn't like the official implementation. I would suggest waiting a while, see how everybody (including you) feel about it. This is, after all, a really well done mod. In any case, choose what you feel its best and gl.
mezz  [author] 17 Dec, 2024 @ 4:22pm
Version 42 did some work on how guns handle and seems to implement a similar (and honestly probably better) weapon behavior based on how much you move and sway your aim. This mod will probably NOT be updated and will be considered obsolete once 42 hits stable.
Rabbitowitz 19 Nov, 2024 @ 8:44am
Does the crosshair represents where you're shooting like the Advanced trajectory mods? Or is it only a way to visualize the +hit and + crit chance? (I kinda prefer the auto aim, reminds me of old school Resident Evil)
SinGrawes 28 Dec, 2023 @ 7:11pm
Has anyone tried it, AimXPTweak works on an Improved projectile or Advanced trajectory???

WaterComputer 1 Jul, 2023 @ 7:33pm
does this only work on vanilla guns?
Sergei Korolev 6 Jun, 2023 @ 12:44am
how does mod affect multiple zombies being hit by shotgun?
mezz  [author] 4 May, 2023 @ 12:02am
I know, I've just not gotten around to actually fixing it, I just kinda forgot to.
Vilespring 3 May, 2023 @ 11:46pm
So, something I’ve realized is this mod actually has aiming time implemented backwards. In project Zomboid firearms a larger aiming time means the gun aims faster.

Later I can paste the exact math but the algorithm and testing confirms that larger aim time = faster aiming.
darkArt 14 Mar, 2023 @ 5:01am
Sad to know there is no fix for it, unfortunately that is a no go for me, but I will still use the mod for the XP Tweak and MP noise fix. Thanks for the mod.
mezz  [author] 14 Mar, 2023 @ 1:50am
The vanilla outline probably freaks out because the gun's accuracy is changed very quickly every frame or so. I don't think there is any way for me to really fix it, you'll just have to pay more attention to the crosshair. You SHOULD keep in mind however that even if the crosshair is fully contracted, having injuries or other conditions that penalize your aim, will still lower your chance to hit.
darkArt 13 Mar, 2023 @ 6:20pm
The only gun mod I am using is Vanilla Firearms Expansion btw
darkArt 13 Mar, 2023 @ 6:17pm
This mod is really amazing. I am having an issue though, after I fire a stabilized shot the target outline for the next shot gets completely bright green regardless of distance or aiming level, but it does not really affect accuracy, it's just some kind of visual glitch. And after I shoot once again it gets back to normal. Any idea what may be causing it?
mezz  [author] 13 Mar, 2023 @ 3:54pm
MCM is not necessary to run DOTL, only if you want to change the appearance of the crosshair.
darkArt 13 Mar, 2023 @ 3:48pm
Do I need the MCM to run the mod or it is just for customization?
Dusk Holloway 4 Mar, 2023 @ 2:14pm
@Horbino Yes.
aBel.caldwell 27 Feb, 2023 @ 7:14am
support for vanilla firearms expansion?
mezz  [author] 26 Jan, 2023 @ 11:58am
I don't know, I dont play PVP.
Horbino 26 Jan, 2023 @ 11:56am
Is pvp still possible with this mod? There was another mod that I had similar to this that basically made it impossible to shoot other players
mezz  [author] 1 Nov, 2022 @ 2:18pm
I have not gotten around to fixing it yet, I have been kinda inactive in PZ, so my updating schedule isn't exactly great, sorry for that.
Oswanov 1 Nov, 2022 @ 2:13pm
Sorry, i meant to say in the comment bellow: When equipping longer range scopes that increase aiming time the contraction becomes faster
Oswanov 1 Nov, 2022 @ 2:11pm
Yeah, the Aiming Time contraction of the crosshair still works in reverse. When equipping longer range scopes that reduce aiming time the contraction becomes faster, even though it should be the opposite. Do you plan to look into it still? Or is there a part in the code/conifig/whatever where I can change it myself? I assume There is a plus where there is a minus or vive-versa somewhere
Zanklev™ 22 Sep, 2022 @ 5:30pm
Ah man that sucks, I hope you will at least keep it updated for future versions though. I love this mod.
Bezumaxy 22 Sep, 2022 @ 9:59am
Thanks!"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mezz  [author] 22 Sep, 2022 @ 8:21am
I don't plan on adding any new features to DOTL, however you can disable drawing the crosshair by using MCM.
Zanklev™ 22 Sep, 2022 @ 6:15am
Can we get an alternative crosshair, like the movement gauge from britas weapons? Just something to replace the crosshair with an indicator?
DigitalFax 20 Sep, 2022 @ 4:41am
Is this mod compatible with Firearms B41?
PrisonBootyBandit 19 Sep, 2022 @ 5:20pm
once I started using superior survivors mod this mod started messing up for some reason...I wonder why that is
pgames-food 14 Sep, 2022 @ 5:36pm
btw this mod has really been helping me to aim without wasting precious arrows when using a bow :)
mezz  [author] 11 Sep, 2022 @ 3:03am
I don't see why they wouldn't, the code applies to all registered weapons.
owen 11 Sep, 2022 @ 1:06am
do the mp sounds boost for britas weapon pack also?
mezz  [author] 8 Sep, 2022 @ 12:13am
I'll keep it in mind, dunno when I'll get around to fixing it though.
Lennybolt7 7 Sep, 2022 @ 8:21pm
After some testing I believe this and "superb survivors" are incompatible. With both active the red crosshairs do not appear. Is there any chance of seeing a fix?

Not pressuring, just wondering if I should throw out that mod or wait.
Kiyora Usagi/Kio 4 Sep, 2022 @ 6:53am
Ah, Hi simon.
mezz  [author] 29 Aug, 2022 @ 2:04pm
Using MCM, you can opt out of the crosshair rendering on screen, while retaining all bonusses.
PrisonBootyBandit 29 Aug, 2022 @ 2:00pm
is there a way to take out the crosshair? I just want the fix
mezz  [author] 27 Aug, 2022 @ 5:48am
I'll look into it, that might be an oversight on my part. Thanks for spotting it.
Dusk Holloway 27 Aug, 2022 @ 5:46am
one problem i have is that higher aiming speeds have the crosshair contract slower when it should be the opposite higher speeds are better in vanilla with aiming speed set to 1 (this is horrible in vanilla) the crosshair contracts near instantly while setting it to 450 makes the crosshair very very slow while in vanilla this will make you reach max accuracy instantly
Tiran Kandros 23 Aug, 2022 @ 11:52pm
the gunshot radius reduction was to prevent the overload servers were experiencing because of high zed populations, causing desync and disconnections. it can be safely put back to normal pre reduction levels in single player but be wary for multiplayer
The Saltan 23 Aug, 2022 @ 10:25pm
Is the mp gunshot loudness mod compatible with Firearms B41?
Velvet 22 Aug, 2022 @ 6:17pm
Someone might have already pointed this out, but I believe the point of the gunshot sound radius being less in MP is to minimize the number of times that you end up screwed over by other people firing off guns in situations that are out of your control. While realistic, I think perhaps the devs thought it would be more frustrating than fun, and simply never thought to provide a server setting for it.
mezz  [author] 14 Aug, 2022 @ 10:35am
AFAIK thats how PZ just does aiming, I am not aware that it would be possible for it to behave otherwise.
PAИJICO 14 Aug, 2022 @ 6:26am
Is there any chance to create an option to disable aim assist and only hit where you are currently targeting? Not in the radius?
DarkChaserBR 6 Aug, 2022 @ 10:24am
i managed to fix it, it was a compatibility issue, i used mod maneger server to check the problems
now the crosshair is showing in multiplayer
mezz  [author] 4 Aug, 2022 @ 12:43am
@Bingus
DOTL only affects the base chance, other modifiers such as injuries and panic still get applied, so even if your crosshair is fully retracted, it won't always translate to a guaranteed hit if you have too many negative statuses to deal with.

@Moosey Fate
Thanks for the kind words. Regardless of whether you decide to use DOTL, enjoy PZ :spiffo:
Moosey Fate 3 Aug, 2022 @ 10:50pm
I love the rational description for what bothered you (mezz), other solutions you saw, how you chose to address the issue, and the spirit of what you were trying to achieve. Thank you very much for this description!

I'm new to PZ, so I will give vanilla a chance first. Just want to add a crosshair for now. But subscribing to this mod, and absolutely keeping this in mind in case I have the same frustration. I wholeheartedly agree theoretically with everything you said. Especially guns needing to feel significant, and your style of mitigating RNG!
Land 3 Aug, 2022 @ 5:57pm
Hey so does panic effect this at all? And if so, how?
