@Wes: Not only does it have it. You can turn the others off and exclusively RP combine.

@Andrini: Look at description. In the new updated mod, you can disable and enable VA's. Decide cooldowns. Give a specific character a specific voice etc.

To be honest, I liked only the combine radio chatter, are there any plans for a combine only mod? If not thats ok too I still like this mod.

Could you make it that colonists only sound like combine if they have Helmets on? like the minimal could be a flak helmet, and when they dont they any helmets on have the normal voices for guys and girls

This mod is perfect for my mod pack, now I can hear the chatter of cloned and nerve stamped soldiers that also have tons of cybernetics and brain implants. Sweet !

don't suppose there'd be an easy way to make this get attached to the half rim mod so they can be attached to the helmets/masks eh? that'd be awesome if there could be some cross modding or an option we could tick for if that mod and this one are installed together, so only those wearing atleast the combine head gear would get the combine voice lines(and obviously gender would play a role into what TYPE of voice line since there are female ones lol)

either way, cool mod. makes things feel like an RTS at this point since well, the selecting/moving/attacking triggers voice lines.

This reminds me a lot of older RTS games that have little unit callouts whenever they're selected or ordered around. Quite charming!

@Cat: I will change the mod to allow disabling and enabling voice actors in mod settings. As well as tying voices to set colonists. Mid-june prob.

@Alexander The Great I like that idea I'll save it for a future video concept.

Right now my playthrough follows a squad of ancients who recently left cryo. They had hoped the mechanoid menace that destroyed their world was finally gone after thousands of years. Will they lose the humanity they hoped to save by becoming the very thing they must destroy? Will they repeat the mistakes of the past dooming this world yet again? Its been 3000 years since day zero and hope is merely a luxury.

This voice pack fits in so well for me... As it just makes the story that much darker. And yes I started at year 3k and the default game starts at 5k. Hopefully that doesnt ruin the plot given the amount of mechoids roaming around 2000 years later for everyone else.

Would make more sense to split the voice actors into their own separate mods and then give the user the option to enable and disable them for various characters The simplest and most obvious choice there would be male/female.

I don't think either voice packs are bad, but I'd rather have a pitch-changed Overwatch option than a completely unrelated set of sound files.

@Latex: I actually didn't think it would be popular at all. As it's so niche. Maybe more people than I thought are enjoying to play Rimworld with the militaristic high-tech dystopian paramilitary supremacy thing going :P

SlippyCheeze: I see your point. The cooldown is 2-4s atm. Maybe an option to customize it. Also depends on playstyle. I don't hear it often because everything is mostly automated.

Sewer Clown: Don't worry. I'll continue this in June with a 300$ budget to make it customizable, disable / enable actors, choose actor etc.

I will upload the combine only version as a seperate mod for those that don't like the new voices. I will continue on this mod in June. So keep leaving feedback, suggestions and criticism for changes you'd like to see.

Meanwhile... turns out that there are only so many times you can hear "Need something destroyed?" "On it" in thirty seconds before you disable the mod, so ...

that whole "response *every* time" thing? kinda needs to be a bit less aggressive, or higher cooldown, or whatever. :)

@Amortem, replacing voices, or adding to them, should be trivial – just patch the SoundDef and you are done. More types of voices, and/or triggers, would mean changing the source, but really, it's pretty trivial as far as these things go, so it wouldn't exactly be hard to do. :)

The female voices are immersion breaking imo.
Contrast very poorly with the mechanical and tonal combine from half life, and sound more like generic sci-fi soldier of well... Star craft.

An absolute must have mod, that i moved into the "essential" category for my future playthroughs.
It'd be absolutely great to give players a little bit more creative space to make customiseble voicepacks that could be assigned to individual units. But then again, it's only a suggestion and i understand how difficult it is to mod something like that.

Hey, so, testing this out and a handful of comments:
1. This rocks. :)
2. It fires *way* too often with the "tactics" mod in use, which selects every pawn as soon as they are "idle."
3. it'd be good to assign voices more randomly to ungendered pawns (or non-M/F binary gendered, I guess, if some mod out there introduces more varieties.)

Mostly, though, more variety, a little less frequently firing, and this'll be amazing. :)

Using Rimrobots here, every genderless android is using the female lines... I like my android more when they sounded like combine. Maybe an option to disable certain audios, or disable female lines completely?

This would be a pretty awesome RTS voice line framework if the voices were replaced with units from other games like Starcraft, Warcraft, C&C, ect.

Can I assign these voices to specific armor pieces? I'm building a squad of warcasket soldiers and I'd love for them to have these voices while in battle, but I dont want all my colonists having it

Should work enabling and disabling with games in progress. As these only alter sound. But just in case be careful. If someone can confirm this, that would be great.

Also. 1 more male variant and 2 female variants are coming soon. I needed a bit of a "techy" sound for them to match the combine soldier. So the unit sounds I went for is the dropship from SC1, the Valkyrie from SC1:BW. The second male voice being the Ghost - also from SC1. These voices were selected because they most naturally blend it with the existing Combine Soldier. As to not ruin immersion or going into uncanny valley.
