Hello. I have a issue with something about a model. Can I have your help please?

@TheGermanWizard most of the buildings and windows were separate items. The limitation of 32 textures per object was the biggest obstacle which made so many items to begin with. Those buildings use alot of textures

@Ua MrMe29 if you make and upload the session, be sure to also list this workshop item as a necessary item. that you had to deal with 200 textures only goes to prove how rushed Sonic 06 really was. it worked, wasnt pretty, wasnt smooth, but it worked. in all seriousness though, you might have been able to compile a number of buildings and their roofs into bigger props. SFM allows for 100.000 polygons.

@TheGermanWizard Oh I didnt know I could already have it assembled for you. I'll see if I can get it out there

@rai #killtf2 I'm not quite sure. This is my very first port so im sure I might've made a mistake somewhere. I was trying to handle over 200 textures and objects

@Commander J Ducky I actually did combine these into more compact models. It was over 200 different models and 200 different textures. With the limitation of how many materials you can have on a single models I had to deliver this pack how it is. This was also my first attempt at doing this so I am most definitely aware that something could be done better. Thanks for the feedback:steamthumbsup:

I think you should really consider joining/combining most of these models with whatever 3d software you're using to make it so that there are only about 5-10 or so .mdl files that need to be assembled into SFM. The amount of .mdl files I'm seeing right now just looks like it'd be annoying to get everything into SFM at once.

now that i assembled the whole thing: your textures need some work. they glow, they shine, and the water is just the normal map as base texture, some transparency is missing in places. if you have the files, pls put all of the textures as VTF and VMT on the workshop as well. Oh, and one of the bridge models needs to be fixed, the large bridge

And before you respond: "Well just disable lighting, dumbass" that is not a solution.

Actually, if you release these props this way, its also a good idea to upload a session in which you arranged them accordingly and save everyone the time to puzzle it together.

@Wubba
As the guy behind the Speed Highway at Dawn scenebuild, I find scenebuilds as a better alternative than premade maps for various reasons.
For one thing I tried to make Speed Highway downtown area as a map but I couldn't get the atmospheric lighting to work. The entire map just glowed entirely. I had to upload it as a scenebuild because as models they would be granted proper shading from other maps.

Not only that but on the workshop there is various "void maps" of different time of day and atmosphere. So you don't need to download alternate maps for day or night.

Don't get me wrong, I do prefer maps over scenebuild models, I know what I'm getting then. But scenebuild models are also very useful with different void maps for alternative scenes.
Sir donks alot (rip my grandpa) 3 Jun, 2022 @ 10:08pm
are we supposed to be expected to put all THIS together in sfm ourselves? Not to mention it has a memory limit so I doubt people like me will able to not only build the city but able to spawn characters
