I have CSS Installed, Half life two, and the episodes, they are all mounted and installed on garrys mod, and there are still like 10000000000 errors. What the hell?

The extended version is great! my fps ranges about 30-50 but to me that's somewhat playable. i just don't agree with the glass floors on the bungalows

like I said in the personal note I wrote above....... they're hard to make time consuming hard to get them running in acceptable conditions...... source1 is kind of obsolete for this purpose

I always wanted to kill the source engine and push it to the limits, this is the result yep this map is not the best in terms of optimizations Im fully aware lol, just to make it clear, source doesnt like rendering maps from one extreme to the other where everything is visible all times... and maps which are like that have only a fraction of the stuff, props, entities etc this one has.

This map is more trouble than it's worth for you folks wanting to install. While the map is phenomenal, (amazing job Fox!), it's just too much to handle most likely. Try finding a more smaller and simpler map that won't light your pc on fire lol.

oh yeah lol, then dont even try the guide above which tells you how to enable real-time water reflections.... still I did my best to make this map run.... I dont think more can be done.

well. me using a budget which is the RX560 of 2GB of VRAM doesnt fall from 60.... only low 45's in a very specific spot but.. not to that extreme... a goddamn RTX card

RTX 3050 and even on that this hits down to 20-30 FPS.

is just too much stuff to handle at the same time for an engine like this... still me on a RX560 which is a budget card with 2gb of VRAM doesn't struggle.... I'm 60fps most of the time. make sure you have mcore_test enabled.

I understand what you mean, I made a test by compiling the map without the mid func_viscluster and for me the performance seemed to be at least a bit better than the default version but you are right that the performance would be better if more hint/skip brushes were added. If I'm correct though, hint/skip brushes have no effect on the portals if the whole map is covered with func_viscluster because it doesn't generate any portals with that on anyways. another example: roleplay maps they are large detailed and have many entities but see the repetitive pattern: they are all the SAME, a tunnel with an areaportal to separate one area from the other and low ceiling/skyboxes combined with hard fog to cut rendering beyond, these layouts are mandatory or otherwise they wouldnt be playable at all.... I mean I could try to implement these tricks and resources here but Im not sure, plus the truth is, this map is actually used more to pose nsfw scenes rather than being something playable (trust me I've seen it a lot in prn LOL), but yeah anyone can do their own version, I dont mind.

so you may think and so do I "but what about gm_bigisland which is also an island" well yes but you cant see from one end to the other these maps use these hidden tricks like lowering the skybox "walls" to the floor level and hide the transitions with 2d tree barriers. open maps like gm_bigcity are covered with worldsolids to block the pvs, flatgrass types of maps or buttes dont have a quarter of the half of the total entities this map has, VALVE's own CSGO blacksite which is battle royale is actually built as a "pyramid" to help block the PVS from one end to the other + cuts rendering with fog... in a summary: this map isnt for Source 1, pushes it too much but thanks for the comment I really tried my best here.

@pixelaffection I know, viscluster is meant to be used in large open spaces where everything is visible and it isnt worth wasting vvis compilation time. Just to speed up the vvis time.. Your point is valid but this is not the reason. it is ALWAYS hard to optimzie such an open map because there is not much to hide behind the walls, it is an island where you see from point to point, from corner to corner. I already tried the same build without the vvisclusters and the result is the same, is just Source handling the PVS (potential visible set)

Just a word of advice:
The map in general is well done, but to optimize the map massively you should consider deleting at least the middle level func_viscluster. I am not sure if you understand what func_viscluster does, but your whole map is covered with a giant viscluster which actually means the map is drawing EVERYTHING on the map at once which causes the major performance issues.
