This is quite tough.

I like it when spaceships are named after obscure medieval weapons
Anthraax 15 Jul, 2022 @ 12:38pm
Just to clarify, I hope I didn't come off as criticizing the naming of the ship. I was pointing out some classifications that people use as the basis for how the classify their own designs, but I also said that if the author wanted to call it a Luxury Frigate, they can do so because they designed it lol

VArgent do not mind the critic's some cant seem to think outside the box.=) If I was stuck in space for long periods of time I would want something like this. Luxury with lots of firepower. A harem would not be to bad either. Anyways nice job on the build.

Then you have missed the point as well. Battleships are weapons. Space that isn't dedicated to killing, communication, or survivability is wasted space and a liability.

The only time you see decorative or "pretty" weapons of war, are ceremonial weapons. You touched on that with your excellent choice of "Fauchard" as the name. It's not uncommon for royalty to have ceremonial military units that are probably relatively capable, but might also have a few more amenities than ordinarily found on regular service units. "Ceremonial battleship" might have been better.

Your ship, you named it. I don't care. Just pointing out that everyone arguing about which warship designation it should be while ignoring the "luxury" adjective have really missed the point.

Patrick, this ship is a battleship by number of weapons, as well as by my definition since classes in SE do not exist.
It is also, by definition, luxurious, as luxury is defined as: "Luxury noun, plural lux·u·ries.

a material object, service, etc., conducive to sumptuous living, usually a delicacy, elegance, or refinement of living rather than a necessity.

a pleasure out of the ordinary allowed to oneself: the luxury of an extra piece of the cake.
a foolish or worthless form of self-indulgence.
"
This is a battleship, and it is luxurious, having additions there for comfort, not combat. Luxury and war are not mutually exclusive, though they do not mix normall, however they do in this ship, therefore it can be called a luxury battleship.

Sincerely, the creator of the Fauchard Luxury Battleship.

Luxury battelcruiser and luxury battleship are both silly names. Warships are not "luxurious," they don't have pools, and they don't have "anything a yacht could need." On a warship, that space would be used for guns, ammo, armor, engines, or just making it smaller.

It's a very nice build, but the people focusing on whether its a "luxury" battleship versus a "luxury" battlecruiser have missed the most important point.

I think you nailed it when you called it a yacht. That's what it is. A heavily armed yacht. Which is awesome. Maybe even a super yacht.

My two cents. Honestly, it's a very nice build and I don't really care what you call it. :)

According to this random warship classification article, Cruisers are smaller and cheaper than a Battleship, yet much larger and more powerful than a Destroyer. They were designed to mix speed and range, endurance and firepower, and were expected to be able to out-run any ship they can't out-fight. Battleships were slow, heavily armored, heavily armed, and meant to brawl with enemy battleships.

Idk what standards you're classifying this ship by, but with a PCU of 34k, it's not a Destroyer. Battlecruiser is another category that was fast moving, heavily armed, but not as heavily armored as a battleship.

So Luxury Battlecruiser seems accurate for a large yet agile, moderately armored, and decently armed ship that is overstocked with amenities. But at the end of the day, if you'd like to build it in your world and call it a Frigate, you're allowed to do that too lol.

It's a great ship design that blends nice aesthetics with firepower. Props to the author

fair enough and again awsome design, keep it up.

still dont like that you called it a battleship.
Argent  [author] 13 Jul, 2022 @ 2:54pm
Thank you Steelphantom,

While I agree with you somewhat that this can't take hits that are not from the front (like all meta pvp designs). It is also true that "Luxury Battlecruiser" doesn't roll of the tongue as well as "Luxury Battleship".
Steelphantom 13 Jul, 2022 @ 2:47pm
I like the design... HATRE THE NAME it makes me obsurdly angry that you call this thing a battleship. cruiser or destroyer, fine but battleship? really? theres barely any light armor and tons of heavy weapons. this is a destroyer and you cant convince me otherwise...

really well made ship though love the design and the handelling, NOT A BATTLESHIP
Argent  [author] 13 Jul, 2022 @ 1:08pm
Thank you everyone, I'm glad you like it.

Der Moosenheimmannchesterton 13 Jul, 2022 @ 2:38am

Sevyrs 12 Jul, 2022 @ 6:26am
Very nice. Subbed and upped.
Argent  [author] 12 Jul, 2022 @ 4:09am
Even if I wanted to Sand, I don't think I have the time or commitment to build as much as you do, but I will try.
Sandst4rm 12 Jul, 2022 @ 2:00am
Trying to take my yatch battleship niche i see
Praetor Paktu 11 Jul, 2022 @ 11:14pm
Cool ship.
Argent  [author] 11 Jul, 2022 @ 4:52pm
Thank you, I worked hard on it. The bridge is indeed an issue in the context of SE, however it is not very complicated since guest have only one way left to go, up the lit up staircase. Crew would also know where the bridge is.

I would have put up signs, but since there is no space the lit up staircase was the best option.
Diemosthenes 11 Jul, 2022 @ 4:38pm
Phenomenal job! Took it for a spin and it's just really well done in SO many different ways. The only issue I had (and maybe this is by design) is finding the bridge; perhaps signage?
