@Vilespring My apologies - I misread your comment and totally misunderstood. I was in a scramble to get the mod posted before I had to leave for the evening. Everything worked great, but I will need to make a patch for the AK-74’s folding ability. I noticed from the scripts that it probably would require that, but I got wrapped up in something before I could move on it. Btw, VFE is great!

Indeed, I was asking about the new version.

I wanted to make sure what I was doing actually helps, as I was very careful with preserving mod data.

@Vilespring I just published a new mod called Legend Craft Evolved for B41/42 that should handle VFE just fine. I think I tested that - I tested a lot of stuff. But this and the melee weapon LC mod are going to be made obsolete with this new one. You might want to check that out instead.

I'm curious, does VFE handle it well?

I made sure to make all the internal things VFE does when it comes to modes, folding stocks, and bayonets respect mod data.

Very soon, I have a new Legend Craft mod coming out for B41/42 that will replace this and the melee weapon mod. And yes, it works with Brita’s. More details in the posts of the melee mod if you’re curious. Think I’ll post the full details to the PZ subreddit very soon, possibly tomorrow. Also, sorry for ghosting this mod for so long. I just wasn’t a good enough coder to make these mods what they should’ve been so I figured I’d give it another go when B42 came out. That was quite a bit longer than expected, but it looks like I got it this time around. Cheers!

Muggs - You'd have to go and add each of these guns to the Brita files by finding the attachments they should work with and listing the LC guns there.

@Torkkar I don't think your suggestion 2 would work, because I don't think it's possible in Zomboid for one weapon to use multiple different kinds of ammunition. I think there might be underbarrel shotguns and grenade launchers in the Brita weapon mod, but I'm fairly sure they had to do some crazy things to get that to happen and at least one of the required mods for that has a team of people working on it.

man 2 suggestions:

1 you should make an LC Collection cause these mods rock.

2. you should add in a shits & giggles weapon maybe takes a shotgun, 1 revolver, & 3 D.E. style pistols & combine them with metal pipe & string/twine/fishing line using a Propane torch into Moe's Quint Cannon from the Simpsons. would be hellishly funny.

There is a sound volume & radius reduction with each upgraded tier - so it’s got that going, at least. And there’s surprisingly a lot happening with the attachment/mounting system in the code. There needs to be references in numerous places to get things to work, and lots of potential for unintended results.

I was looking at this mod, but I have tried a few now....

I added your different tier guns (PistolLv2; PistolLv3; PistolLv4; PistolLv5; PistolLegend;) to the "mount on" line in that mods "silencers.txt" file. It was a first attempt at modding for PZ, so I am not surprised it didn't work.

I am thinking that an easy workaround for your mod would be to just have the silencer "built in" by adding the silencer a attachment model to the higher tier guns. You already reduce the noise on each tier, just not as much as the silencers should.

Tier 1, add as normal or not.
Tier 2-Legend 80-95% sound reduction and you get it for free!

I guess you would also need to change the sound files for the guns too, but there would be no need for a second mod.

@Maebalzurakin: Unfortunately no. I almost had Maxwells Improvised Silencers working, but they couldn’t be removed once attached, which was a strange bug that stumped me. If you have a different one to suggest, I’d be glad to take a look at it.

Are there any silencer attachment mods that work with this? The once I am using does not attach to the V2 version of the rifle I am using.

@Copper Boltwire: Even if for real, that’s above my current skill set. I do have plans to start 3D modeling for a custom melee weapon, but I’m not against considering some sci-fi weaponry. I’ve been playing around with a lot of code recently learning how to get fancy.

@cort.x: Sorry, but is not yet compatible with Brita’s and likely will not be soon. It currently only works with vanilla firearms and the first major compatibility patch is planned for VFE.

Does it works with Brita's weapons mod ? I seek a mod to buff the crit chance who has decreased in 41.73 version and recover the 41.71 settings.

V1.1 is now finally done and up. To keep it short, even my problems had problems making this update. RL delays and the 41.73 update had some unexpected effects on my already completed work. Anyway, there's now custom sandbox damage options and vanilla attachments will work and appear on all LC guns. The LC attachments still exist and are functional, but it is no longer necessary to convert vanilla attachments to those varieties. I had to abandon the compat for Maxwell's Improvised Silencers for now - could not figure out a bug where the silencer effect could never be removed from a weapon once it had been attached even if the silencer was removed. Maybe next time. Planned for the next update - VFE compatibility (and maybe that silencer thing).

Update on the upcoming update: custom damage scaling and destructible legends (like from my melee mod) is complete along with an additional option to turn off quieter upgrades, so sound radius & volume will not decrease with each tier. Compats have been tricky to figure out, but I got it and vanilla attachments will now work with LC guns. The LC attachments will remain as to not break saves. I also want to add compat for Improvised Silencers and a couple more lighter mods, but regrettably, VFE is being pushed to the next update - it’s going to be more involved. Also going to try to clean up the inventory tooltip UI if I can - it looks a mess with all those weapons compatible with a single item. Hope to have it posted in several days.

Vanilla Firearms Expansion.

It's a very popular mod as it fixes the vanilla M14 and M16 being garbage, remodels everything, and adds a few nice firearms that spice up the variety. It also doesn't add every firearm manufactured since the beginning of firearms mass production.

@TarkinGaming: Thanks! I’m currently figuring out how I want to handle compatibilities and there’s two main issues. First, there’s making this mod’s weapons work with other mods’ attachments - the list of attachments that a gun can accept and the list of guns that an attachment can accept are both separate and strictly defined - I need to figure out how to crack it. Second, weapon upgrades in this mod are handled through new items and recipes, so to upgrade another mod’s weapons, I would need to copy their code which is not acceptable - I would need to engineer a way to do it fully by processing that mod’s code instead, and I got some ideas. In short, some compatibilities are in the works and VFE is currently the first project.

I’m putting the finishing touches on a huge update for my melee mod, but I scooped up a few silencer mods to poke around at once I’m done. I’m also going to aim for some VFE compatibility as well along with porting the custom damage scaling/optional legend tier descructibility from that melee update for the first big update here. I sure can’t complain about being bored - wish I could roll things out faster, but it is what it is.

@Copper Boltwire: While that mod seems to be having some considerable issues, I will look into integrating compatibility with an existing silencer mod. It may not be that particular mod though.

@Copper Boltwire: I absolutely will consider it - that’s something I’d like to work in here. I plan on doing an attachment upgrade update in the near future - I’ll see if it won’t be super involved to include that. That said, there are small improvements to sound volume and radius to each tier of firearm already, so that’s a little something.

Got a big update coming to the melee weapons this week - custom damage scaling and option for descructible legend tier items - but once that’s up, I’m going to adapt it for the guns and post it here, hopefully by next week.

@Master Mace: Unlike the melee, the guns do require a screwdriver and screws instead of hammer & nails - I wanted to spread out the resource usage. Also, any mod that changes the identity of vanilla firearms in code may cause this mod to no longer recognize them, as it’s looking for the default base module items for crafting. I don’t know of any mods off hand that do that to vanilla guns, but the chance is there. I haven’t played around with VFE yet, so don’t know if that does anything.

not sure why but i havent been able to get this to work in my game. the mele one works fine but when it comes to guns there is no option to combine, my aiming skill is 5 so shouldnt be a problem there.

@ K[A]iFoLoG: Considering how much it’s been coming up, I think I ought to strongly consider VFE support for the first major update. I’m currently working on a very elaborate customization system for the melee mod (that has required me to write my own debug mod as well) that I would eventually port to this one, but afterward, I’ll start working on that here.

@Viper: Those are definitely some awesome influences there. Upfront - I’m not a good collaborater if only because of time. I’m not getting updates done as fast as I would like let alone make progress on the third installment of my project, which is maybe 20% done. I can also stand to expand my lua capabilities, which I do as I progress, but I’m a C# guy and lua was new to me when I started messing with PZ. While I might not be able to commit to anything, I’m cool with bouncing ideas around though.
