Ahh I see

Well yeah CS/LS3 is literally just a direct copy of MP5 itself, I just thought this as "MP5" because of the similarity in apperance, and the fact that it ended up getting adopted by the PLA as well, which it is officially designated as "QCQ-171"

I think the CS/LS7 would be a Chinese counterpart of the UMP45 more than the MP5 since the CS/LS3 already exists and the form factor of the CS/LS7 better matches with the UMP45 in my opinion.

Well to be honest I think it got some similarities with other kinds of guns that are pretty well known already, yet still unique on it's own.

Personally I would like to see it as the equivalent of something like "MP5" for the Chinese, and I'm planning to use it as the equivalent of that as well for my own military of my own story.

If there's anything that I want it to change, maybe change the charging handle back to the left side I guess lol.

So overall, what do you think about this gun?
Do you think it needs to be changed in some way or is it already good on its own?

Ahh I see.
Well then.

Oh yes, and I need to tell you some fun facts about the standard issued version of the CS/LS7.
Even that it has a right-handed charging handle, it actually has a bolt release button on the left side, meaning that you can load the bullets into the chamber by pressing a button on the left.
You can try to look for the bolt release button above the magazine holder.

Well maybe, but the PLA has already equipped QBZ-95 as the standard issue for decades already, so I assume they wouldn't just change the place of charging handle because of an older gun.

But then again, there's QBZ-191 now, which got the charging handle on the right side again now, so yeah.

Well, do you agree with my speculation?
I don't really expect it to be true and all, but I just wonder if we both have the same thoughts on this.

Right I see.
Just thought it's weird that they chose to have the charging handle being on the right side.
Well then.

I don't know if you will read this, but I just want to give you knowledges on the matter.
You can check the wikipedia of the gun for more info.

I actually did some research and it says that the charging handle for the CS/LS7 is ambidextrous, which means it can change sides for its charging handle. But apparently, the version that is issued by the PLA strangely is the right-side charging handle version. I'm not sure what could be the real reason. But I have speculations that the army has been using AK platform guns with right-side charging handle, so they chose the right-side version to fit their use.
