Updated version to work with the new way starts are handled, and with a brutal mode: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3269104423

no worries dude! all good! i totaly dont mind. the deepminer is pretty midgame already so if you can mine coal from it its not that bad, cuz at that point people should be of coal.

im not able to test it this week but will report back when i have more data!

Mac-85, I pushed an update that I think will fix the issue. I actually don't have access to a Windows PC right now and can't fully test this fix. I am a bit worried that it won't help your current save, but it might just make new dirty ore start giving you output again... but still no coal. :-) Sorry that you've found two bugs now. I would prefer to find them myself!

Thanks, Mac. That is bad news. Apparently <DeepMineablesOverride> has different behavior than <MineablesOverride>. I can get rid of the Deep Miner override completely for now, but that means you will be able to get coal from the deep miner. Do you like that idea? Or did you have a deep miner before you had a reliable source of coal?

greetings again! thank you for the update ! its been fun playing again! although i come bearing buggy news.. seems that i cant refine dirty ore from the deep driller.. it doesnt put out anything.
tested in a normal world in creative.. worked fine, tested it in the "no ice" mod.. and it doesnt put out ores. sorry that it took so long for me to test this! been a rough time ( AKA blowing up my base) :steamfacepalm:

Thanks for the kind words, Mac. And sorry for the delay in getting a fix pushed out. I just pushed an update that fixes things for me. Please give it a try and let me know if you notice any bugs.

After XML changes from the Meson Scanner update, the "Watts/m2" of the sun on Moon - No Ice turned into something huge! I was tempted to try digging underground to survive. I think one solar panel would have provided over a MW of poewr. LOL!

I'll be updating Mars too. It looks playable, but Mars' orbit still isn't right.

welp.. i started a new game and burst into flame :D glad its already reported. this is one if not the most favorite mod i use !
Psychobob 12 Feb, 2024 @ 10:24am
Yeh, it must be a curse to create mods than have a chance at breaking every time there is an update.

I wish developers would just incorporate good mods into the base game. If they allowed us to fine tune all our level generation, starting conditions and items it would solve the problems. Maybe in due time. The game is pretty much unplayable without the added challenge from your mods though.

I appreciate the effort.

That is wild! Thanks for reporting, Psychobob. Well, I know the last update changed how planetary motion is tracked. Maybe it broke things again. I am under the impression the next update will change it yet again too. The devs warned on discord that all custom worlds would need updates soon. I’ll test this when I get a chance this week, but I may need a few days.

I seem to be bursting into flame when I start a new game with this mod. When I step into the sunlight the temp in my suit instantly skyrockets to certain death.

Mars - No Ice seems to work fine though.

Update uploaded. Have fun!

I'm working on an update to this mod. The Rocket Update broke all world mods.

There is currently an obscure command to change day length:
- press F3 to bring up the dev console
- type timescale followed by a decimal number. The default for the moon looks like 0.2275 from the game files. Smaller numbers result in longer days, so something like "timescale 0.02275" should be longer. You can play with it.
- F3 or Enter closes the dev console

From the Discord, the developer says Day Length will be re-added as an option soon (maybe the next update).

I see... didn't know you could alter this. But it only goes up to 60. Is there a setting file where I can adjust it to go over this limit?
phaethon  [author] 22 Jan, 2024 @ 7:36am
Well, kind of. This mod doesn't change the default day cycle. You can adjust the day length in game under Settings > Gameplay. By default, it is 10 minute days and 10 minute nights. Longer would be more realistic, but time is compressed in game anyway.
rodrigo.urquiza 22 Jan, 2024 @ 6:46am
Does this have realistic lunar days?
Celery Man 6 Jul, 2023 @ 9:28pm
Love this, I'm still a newbie who needs to learn the easier versions first, but I kinda dislike (on the vanilla Moon) how little recycling you need to do, and how easy it is to constantly find new non-renewable energy and material sources. It feels very un-"spacelike" compared to real life or even games like KSP.
Prophet 5 Jul, 2023 @ 4:02am
Perfect mod. Even on Mars or Moon its a big challenge.
one spoiler about steel - i have spent 5 in game days with trying to obtain gas from gold into furnace then one idea appear I threw small oxygen canister into furnace and of course cobalt for volatile and its done. Now i can thinking about water income. :steamhappy::steamhappy::steamhappy:

I had a great experience earlier on with messing with worldsettings files and making custom worlds. I encourage you to lean into doing that if it's something you're into. It's something I might take a crack at again in the future.
phaethon  [author] 12 Aug, 2022 @ 6:46pm
There are a couple of ways of getting steel that I know of. The easiest is to take the reagent mix that comes from recycling plants and put it straight into a furnace. it will turn into charlcoal. You don’t get hydrogen that way, but you do get charcoal. That seems like an intended mechanic.

Another glitchy way to get biomass is to build the first stage of a centrifuge. It will still suck in reagent mix if you throw it where the input slot would be. Then deconstructing the centrifuge drops biomass. Feels like an exploit to me, though.
BushmanLA 12 Aug, 2022 @ 2:11pm
How do you make steel with no coal?
Is there a way to make charcoal without biomass? Or a way to make biomass without a centrifuge (which requires steel).
phaethon  [author] 12 Aug, 2022 @ 1:38pm
Yeah, Stationeers has good mod support, but it is intimidating to start messing with world settings. I just posted a Mars version for you called "Mars - No Ice" in the Steam Workshop. It looks like the world is setup correctly. Let me know if you hit any bugs. Good luck!
Soilaq 8 Aug, 2022 @ 2:51am
I'm not sure yet how you can make these custom world settings, so I'm bold and I'll ask; would it be able to set up a similar but for Mars with no ice and no coal? I kind of want to deal with a bit of storms as well.
