Is there a way to just build a barbarian outpost as one of the civs? I mean, they can crank out battleships without any resources or population. If civs could build those, there'd be no reason to build anything else. FUN!

Thanks for this great mod! No longer will those stupid galleys wreck my early cities.

Btw i only had Rise & Fall, not Gathering Storm. So i had to change the rules to exclude the GS-specific units, and remove the requirement for GS at the top. But it worked perfectly once i did that. (Yes i had to use the mod on Civfanatics, since i don't think you can edit a Steam mod.)

I thought this mod wasn't working after the game updated, but it turns out this mod had just disabled itself.

I have Gathering Storm but no Rise and Fall. Gathering Storm contains all the mechanics of rise and Fall unless some more civ, leaders and wonders.
But your mod says it needs Rise and Fall.
Is it possible to update or made a version where Rise and Fall is not needed?

No it won't disable itself after updating.

I don't see any benefit for that disabled by default setting. I think everyone is pretty much used to have the mods enabled after installing, so new people installing this mod will most likely go play without enabling it.
Also does it disable itself after updates? If so, then it would be very easy to miss that the mod has updated and start a new game without noticing the disabled status.

Just tested, and had no issues with promotions myself. I can't think of anything my mod does that would affect that.

OK, can't seem to give any of my units promotions. Has done this in two games so far (Victoria, Std Island Plates, Prince, no special game modes). Anyone else?

@localdisk51 I don't know that the mod auto-enabling itself will fix anything cos you can't play the savegame without the mod enabled anyway, and you can't play it with the updated version of the mod either, and steam doesn't allow you to enable legacy versions of the mod. Great mod though, will start a new game and try out your changes!

Not big deal. That's more an issue just with how Steam workshop works than anything else. The mod itself has been really nice.

Sorry about that. I made another update that makes my mod not automatically enable itself after updates. So that shouldn't happen again. I didn't know it was possible to do this until just now, thanks to WildW.

I completely rewrote and redesigned how this mod works to fix the problem of it not being possible to bribe less advanced units in the previous version. Please let me know if there are any new bugs as a result.

Fix was a lot more complicated than expected, and involved making duplicates of many units, but I think I might have it done. I need to do a lot of play testing to be sure though.

Nevermind, found a hacky way to assign barbs to the proper tribe so they can be bribed. Fix coming in 2 or 3 days.

After many hours of trying, I have come to the conclusion that it is not possible to mod barbarian units to a specific tribal camp in Barbarian Clans mode. So the bribe function will never be able to work with this mod, with the exception of unique units, as those aren't replaced.

Thanks Hammurabi. I changed the description to say it isn't compatible with barbarian clans for now. I will make an update soon that will assign the new units to the appropriate tribes.

Not compatible with Barbarian Clans. When the script downgrades a spawned unit, the new weaker one is not flagged as a member of the Clan and will ignore bribes etc.

Vanilla barbarians are absolutely ridiculous. Spawning musketman 100BC and with a larger army than the largest civ. Also doing it much faster than any civ could. Gonna try this out, hope it'll make them fun again.

Thank you all for the kind words! It means a lot to know that others get value out of this mod too.

A significant update has been made to make this mode compatible with Barbarian Clans mode. I had to make fundamental changes to the code, so please let me know if you notice any new weird bugs.
