Nuclear Material Storage (For Cask Type 91)

Thank you for taking my request in consideration and implementing it so fast !
Actually, I did not think about changing the output containers directly into the nuclear factories ; this limits the use cases for the new Transfer Facility but I still find it useful for converting my current stockpile of cast B.

@ Septimus But in any case, I've added a new variant of the Transfer Facility that works with unspent nuclear fuel.

@ Septimus You're welcome! :)

I'm not sure why a Transfer Facility is necessary in the other direction. The nuclear power plants can both accept new nuclear material in Cask Type 91, and output spent nuclear material in Cask Type 91; if that is the container type selected by the player.

(Indeed, since the nuclear power plants can directly handle Cask Type 91, it brings into question why the Transfer Facility exists at all...)

Thanks for this great work.
Would it be possible to have a version able to store unspent nuclear fuel ?
I think the key point is the nuclear facility that only accept nuclear waste to transfert to cask 91.

@ CanadianSharp This mod has been, without a doubt, the finickiest thing I've managed to ram into WR:SR. If trucks won't work with the Type 91, you might have better luck with the train cargo wagon.

Other than that, I really don't know what to do. It feels like a lot of mods depended on obscure engine behavior that doesn't really exist anymore in the post-v1.0 days.

Great storage

Type 91 wont unload at my reprocessing facility tho so using this as temporary storage for waste between the power plant and reprocessing facility is not an option as it wont allow me to drop Type 91 off.

Still cool as hell for long term storage

@ adamerso I'm happy to hear that you liked watching it, and that it's otherwise working well for you. This mod was a nightmare to model and code!
Zyx Abacab  [author] 25 Apr, 2024 @ 12:29pm
@ adamerso That's very odd indeed! It does look to be off by a factor of about 1.5. (Since the storage is tuned to store 30 years' worth of the largest vanilla plant, it should be able to store 15 years' worth of a plant twice as productive.)

In my previous tests, the math corresponded to the actual waste output, but there is indeed more waste output now.

I'll increase the storage capacity of the Cask Type 91 container to 0.85 tons per container to compensate. Given the output of the bigger modded plant, that should increase the time-to-maximum-capacity from about 10 years to about 15 years and 3 months.

(I have no idea if your existing vehicles will update with this change; I've found changes to mods in existing saves to be... inconsistent.)

however I really enjoyed looking at it when filling up 😊

I had to leave my republic becoause of low FPS with over 350k of people's (didn't knew, that I should lower people's visibility in GPU options to lower cpu xD) so I cannot say if it was fully loaded after 10years,but I'm certain about that, it was around 1/3 full after 3ingame years (however I didn't write down exact day, only year :))
adamerso 25 Apr, 2024 @ 5:47am
daily output was around twice as vanilla plant. Of course I was using Cask Type 91,as recommended :) What's worth noticing, I was trying what is more profitable - exporting nuclear fuel or exporting power, so my plant was 100% loaded all the time :( I think, that was the reason of such quick fulfillment of storage 😉
Zyx Abacab  [author] 15 Apr, 2024 @ 5:37pm
@ adamerso What is the daily waste output of the modded plant?

If you're using Cask Type 91 as specified, this storage can handle a little over 500 tons of nuclear waste. At 0.04 tons per day, that's 12750 days', or a little under 35 years', worth.

If you're using the vanilla casks, the storage capacity is much less.
adamerso 15 Apr, 2024 @ 3:00pm
>510 tons of nuclear waste, equivalent to the waste output of a twin-reactor power plant running at maximum capacity for 30 years.
I was so surprised by fulling it, that I've even write down year of building it :) And in my case it is about 1/3 full after 3ingame years.... :( (modded powerplant, however it was consuming less than two times as vanilla one)

I have It should be bigger, however that's still very nice mod :)

@Zyx Abacab thanks for the answer, but unfortunately I am not into coding at all. P.S.: when the storage burned down all my nuclear waste stored there was gone too - without any radiation (good for my game, bad for roleplaying ... it should have been a nuclear desaster!)
Zyx Abacab  [author] 7 Dec, 2022 @ 5:23pm
@ ekesandras2000 I'm not sure how that's happening. The SMOKEPOINTCHANCE of this building is set to 0, which should entirely disable fires. I can't replicate this issue; nor have I seen fires in other buildings with this value set to 0.

Modding for WR:SR is a clunky hassle, as there is a dearth of online documentation. Outside of three outdated and incomplete reference guides on Steam, and rambling, fragmented discussions on Discord, there's not a lot to go on.

This mod is open-source, so if you have a fix, feel free to send me a patch; or fork the mod and fix it yourself.
ekesandras2000 3 Dec, 2022 @ 8:07pm
OMG, it is flamable. My nuclear waste storage burned down!
ekesandras2000 23 Nov, 2022 @ 6:19am
the container transfer facility doesn't work like it should. I brought Cask Type B containers (like from a temporary deposit next to my power plant) to the factory for repacking (like final storage in deep geological repository), but the transfer facility doesn't repack them. There is raw material (waste), there are employees, but it doesn't work like it should. It doesn't create new Cask 91 containers.

@ mthibau Thank you! I don't mind, I'm just glad that people are using it :)
mthibau 19 Aug, 2022 @ 5:07pm
NOICE i put it on the DPRK collection, hope you don't mind
