I had to go through hell to install and find this mod lmao

@OG sorry, it's been a while since i wrote this but iirc if you set up the sandbox for a colder climate, it'll adjust the temperatures accordingly. everything was setup around running a '4 - hot' climate, so setting it to '2 - cold' should give you a bearable winter without rendering summer too safe
OG 9 Dec, 2024 @ 8:30pm
hello, are you able to modify the intensity of the heat dome? i wanted to run it for a server to have it more mild in the winter and intense in the summertime

@oloolo1661 if you want to simulate high temperatures impacting growth, yes. there's no change to the base nature state, or growth patterns. as mentioned in the description, i balanced it around sandbox settings of hot, very dry, poor crop yield and fast spoilage. since these elements of high temperatures are already available in the game engine, i didn't feel the need to implement them differently through the mod.

hi, do i have to change nature settings in the config when using this mod?

@Smith glad you're enjoying it! and yes, death is *sort of* preventable... but the full heatstroke experience is fairly unforgiving. it's been a while since i put the mod together so specifics elude me at this point, but generally you'll be okay if you take things gently. however, once you get too hot — basically any sustained exertion with a body temp around 40°C/104°F or higher — you start a cascade which requires a *significant* chill ASAP to counteract. and, if i recall correctly, you'll also ramp your thirst into overdrive, which further complicates matters. basically, you need to manage your body temp to stay below 40°C except for the briefest possible moments of life-or-death exertion. doing anything more than short, careful bursts of high-intensity activities outside, e.g. chopping logs, or carrying much weight at all, is a one-way ticket to a very bad time

I'm enjoying the mod on a private MP run. The orange filter is nice, and this has me not using cryo for once.

What exactly does heatstroke do? My friends' health bars were dropping rapidly when they were at 40°C.

Is death from heatstroke preventable if you get inside in a reasonable amount of time?

heatdome definitely works in local & dedicated MP, havent tried heatstroke in dedicated but it seems to work in local MP. im using it with weather manager to make it hot & rainy with no issues.

the fog thing is too much effort for me when my goal is MP lol but i'll be fine without it, thanks for letting me know how tho

@Lord Inter CrazyDuck's better vehicle heaters mod might be a good fit for what you need, though i've not tested it myself

@homekeys hey i'm not really in a position to be working on this at the moment, but if you're keen to fiddle around, it's a simple edit to make. head to wherever your steam workshop mods are downloaded and 108600 is zomboid, 2850355053 is my heatdome mod (e.g. for me that's at D:SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\108600\2850355053\mods\heatdome\media\lua\client\ ).

dig around in there for the heatdome.lua and delete or edit the line 20 ImprovedFog.setBaseAlpha(0) . that should get you where you're going
Lord Inter 1 May, 2024 @ 2:21am
has anyone got a mod which makes the vehicles fans work at all? I dont expect it to be freezing but its 50c in the cars no matter what i do, open window or aircon on
homekeys 29 Apr, 2024 @ 12:09am
could the fog be optional instead of disabled? im experimenting with different weather effects rn and this bit is kind of limiting. big fan of the environmental lighting changes & heatstroke mode btw

apologies for the slow reply — yep, if you set the sandbox temperature to 'cold' that should give you the temperature range you're looking for. unfortunately though i'm not sure if this mod even works in multiplayer, as it was only written for + tested on single player.

there's every chance i'll be revisiting this mod and giving it a complete overhaul once build 42 is released, but it's unlikely i'll be spending any time in mp prior to that.

I really love this mod and I'm interested in having it on our multiplayer server. My only qualm is that the tempature rises above 130F, which makes sense for an apocalyptic heat wave, but I'd like the max to be 120F (maybe even 125F) for the purpose of realism. Is that possible?
Peanut 23 Jun, 2023 @ 1:49pm
Fun Fact! A heat dome forms when an area of high pressure sits on top of a location, preventing rainfall and also preventing heat from escaping, causing a large area of high temperatures
mille  [author] 5 Jan, 2023 @ 9:28pm
@Dinos sorry, no — the way it's currently written relies on client-side functionality.
Dinos 4 Jan, 2023 @ 9:42am
does this work in MP?
mille  [author] 17 Nov, 2022 @ 9:44pm
no, unfortunately not — the mods are mutually exclusive, and apply a minimum and maximum temperature default, along with a temperature range variable.

at the risk of going into a bit too much detail: if you download my mod and dig around in the heatdome\media\lua\client\heatdome.lua file, you could tweak those values (at the top of the file in the season function) to set a much lower minimum temperature and larger temp diff. fair warning though, i haven't tried doing so and have no idea how tightly those parameters would adhere to seasonal shift versus daily fluctuations. could still make for a fun — if rather weird — playthrough.
MercenaryGrok 17 Nov, 2022 @ 9:02am
is the mod compatiable with cyrogenic winter?
super hot during spring/summer
super cold during autumn/winter?
mille  [author] 14 Nov, 2022 @ 4:22am
sadly no. in an uncharacteristic lack of depth for PZ, this mod facilitates neither the preparation of freshly cooked eggs nor steaks upon e.g. car hoods, exposed pavement
Fatass 7 Nov, 2022 @ 6:36am
will stuff cook if left outside on the floor?
mille  [author] 7 Nov, 2022 @ 3:08am
apologies for the slow reply — the temperature goes down a similar amount to what it usually would, but is still within the elevated heat bracket, e.g. 50C days see 30C + nights
Fatass 2 Nov, 2022 @ 1:01am
does the temperature go down at night?
rjames0820 9 Sep, 2022 @ 5:01am
finally temperatures that is accurate to my country (almost)
this would go well with the floor is lava challenge
Kokorocodon 9 Sep, 2022 @ 1:57am
a normal day here in brazil... and a new meta for europe ;)
feetlover16 30 Aug, 2022 @ 8:28am
will check out the mod later, sounds interesting
