Births are based on how many male/female pairs are in a dome (homelessness is used to limit population).
lelele 4 Sep, 2023 @ 10:33am
So, how do you guys go about this? Normally, I have sort of 'breeding' domes because overpopulation eventually becomes a problem. If I do tourism I have domes specialized in that and not have too many mixed domes. Do you just try to have a couple of tourists in every dome? Do colonists and tourists even have to live next to each other in order for snu-snu to occur?

lol

I don't think I'm going to google that.

All we need now is a milking shed building and we can reference south park as well.

Now we are getting into Vault-Tec levels of fun! I like the two Vaults with inverted rations... 1 woman, 999 men and the flip side 1 man, 999 women.

I treat our bio-robotic brothers in kind.

the drone factory technically births them.
lyssabet 7 Jan, 2023 @ 1:53pm
How does this treat biorobots?
ChoGGi  [author] 17 Nov, 2022 @ 4:44pm
Unless that's a very subtle reference to american astronaut?
ChoGGi  [author] 17 Nov, 2022 @ 4:42pm
It's supposed to remind you of something :)
Cuddle_Rat 17 Nov, 2022 @ 10:20am
A dome full of women that receives shuttles full of "excited" men. This reminds me of something...

Still, cool outside of the box idea!:beeped:
ChoGGi  [author] 1 Oct, 2022 @ 1:46pm
Sure would be :)

v0.6
Culls male colonists recruited from rivals before landing.
ChoGGi  [author] 23 Sep, 2022 @ 7:20am
Huh... Never thought much about rivals, I figured landing would take care of them.

v0.5
Less rival (etc) crashing?

I'll see about blocking them from recruitment later on.
PsiFive 23 Sep, 2022 @ 4:46am
I tried to bolster my colony by recruiting colonists from a rival, partly because I'm trying not to save Earth applicants and partly because I was curious if any males would be recruited and if so what would happen. I chose the 'lots of non-specialist' option but then something weird happened. The mission was successful and several males were among the recruits, but at midnight colony time after landing the game crashed. So I reloaded from before the covert mission and sent it off again. Again it was successful and I had about 5 or 6 males out of the 24 recruits, and I watched as it approached midnight. And the clock just stopped. Everything continued running, drones were zooming around, I could launch rockets and so on, but the clock sat there unmoving on 00:00. What should happen with Amazonian Mars rule when you recruit male colonists from a rival?
ChoGGi  [author] 17 Sep, 2022 @ 10:47am
Hm, maybe an option for some non-worker tourist attractions?

Good to know it kinda works.
PsiFive 17 Sep, 2022 @ 10:23am
The first one got to a 100 or so people then kept crashing. No idea why because I started enabling mods one at a time on the next one and it seemed okay, but I got the cloning and biorobot breakthroughs early enough that I don't think it was a fair representation. Got a third one underway at the moment and I'm having to go slowly so I don't exhaust the initial pool of applicants while also trying to get enough tourists to get some kids born. And the tourists mostly think Mars sucks because there's nothing to do in the colony as I don't have enough people to run much in the way of leisure. It's not looking good but I think maybe I didn't go slowly enough.

40 subs so far, it'd be nice to know if anyone is able to "win"
Thor 10 Sep, 2022 @ 8:20pm
I'M IN!
ChoGGi  [author] 7 Sep, 2022 @ 3:35pm
I did my best to make sure you can't cheese around it :)
ChoGGi  [author] 7 Sep, 2022 @ 3:35pm
Clones are "born" like regular children, so yes.
lelele 7 Sep, 2022 @ 3:07pm
Does the rule also apply to cloning? If not, that would mean cloning is only half as effective because half the children get killed. Or does it actually clone existing colonists?
ChoGGi  [author] 6 Sep, 2022 @ 8:19pm
That's a good question, let me know the answer ;)
lelele 6 Sep, 2022 @ 8:09pm
Sounds interesting but how does it play out? Do you have to micromanage male sexy tourists forever or do you eventually reach a size where you can just automate tourism and not worry about it?
PsiFive 5 Sep, 2022 @ 11:36am
Crashing seemed to be random, though possibly sometimes triggered by autosaves. However, Amazonian Mars plus my current minimal mod set (off the top of my head your library, several of your basic mods, and Silva's UCP) seems to be fine. Sol 160 now without any problems, population a modest 50 or so across two domes. Next step I'll add some of the other mods and see which, if any, make it wobble.

v0.4
More validation before culling.
Cleaned up some code.
ChoGGi  [author] 5 Sep, 2022 @ 9:14am
Logs or is the crashing happening at "predetermined" spots?
PsiFive 5 Sep, 2022 @ 1:39am
Don't know if it's this or another mod not playing nicely with it but my goal of seeing how sustainable the Amazonian Mars rule is being hampered by stability issues. The game has been crashing a lot since I started this colony. I'm going to try disabling nearly everything else and starting a fresh game and enabling mods one at a time until it starts falling over again.
For No Particular Reason 4 Sep, 2022 @ 11:27pm
think you nailed it mate. went past the timestamp crashed before. will upload the logs if crash again
ChoGGi  [author] 4 Sep, 2022 @ 10:34pm
v0.3
Fixes rocket crash?
ChoGGi  [author] 4 Sep, 2022 @ 10:30pm
For No Particular Reason 4 Sep, 2022 @ 9:18pm
Spoke too soon. crashed to the desktop twice now both shortly after the arrival of second batch of tourists, wonder if a birth event related...
For No Particular Reason 4 Sep, 2022 @ 8:42pm
Liking the mod and the challenge, giving it a whirl. Reasonably smooth flying, the blitzing of my captive stock out of existence was a bit of a surprise lol. So much for the cunning plan of not sending a rocket back in for a while
Wraith_Magus 4 Sep, 2022 @ 11:01am
Clearly, you also need to make the Amazonians stop trying to dunk in the open-air gym. They still shoot every hoop because they have great fundamentals, but no dunking.
BLÀde 4 Sep, 2022 @ 1:49am
ok here's the plan: ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh
ChoGGi  [author] 3 Sep, 2022 @ 11:03am
v0.2
Added mod option for male model size.
Was culling too many male colonists.
Challenge rating is 301.
ChoGGi  [author] 3 Sep, 2022 @ 10:53am
Would a mod option for smaller male models look better than heads poking out of buildings/etc, or having an option for both be better?
ChoGGi  [author] 2 Sep, 2022 @ 5:39pm
Yeah, they get culled like tourist baggage.
Ziktofel 2 Sep, 2022 @ 3:47pm
What about cloning?
ChoGGi  [author] 2 Sep, 2022 @ 6:24am
150 (I'm thinking 301 would be better though).
PsiFive 2 Sep, 2022 @ 4:40am
I think I'll see if I can find out if it's sustainable this weekend. Feels like it'll be necessary to get tourism going earlier than I usually choose to in my colonies and at the same time slower growth is a given. Does it modify the game difficulty?
ChoGGi  [author] 31 Aug, 2022 @ 3:50pm
;) I may have been rewatching a certain television show lately.

I'm curious if anyone plays this; how hard is it? Can you actually sustain a colony? (yes that's an indication of the amount of play testing that's gone into this mod)
BrowncoatTrekky 31 Aug, 2022 @ 7:35am
Haha great idea :vulcansalute:
