Note: for those looking to update this, you'll also want to change "claw" to "creatures_claws" in db --> melee_weapons_tables. In a VERY belated answer to @kowalskiy, first just make a new quick file in the same folder, name it the same as the other with something like "_NEW" at the end. This will be empty but have all the columns in the right format. Add rows as needed, and then copy & paste data from the original, change/update what you want to change, delete the outdated file, and rename the new file by removing the "_NEW" (or whatever you used) suffix.

Easy fix, new update changed an int column to a string column
cdir_military_generator_unit_qualities_tables, i changed the quality from an int to a string, using tier_4_step_1_units

Hello author, I'm pretty sure that this mod will now conduce to the game not opening.
With a similar problem is another wood elf troop mod <new dragons for wood elves>.
Both of these mods work on the original Giant Eagle building sequence, so I suspect the new CA update has something to do with it.
I very much hope you can fix this mod, and thank you for making this very interesting troop type.

Thank you. It’s a tier 5 unit and if you awaken the witchwood, you can get them early through the landmark 😊

Nice mod my only complaint with it is that it takes too long to get these unit to actually play them. even when cheating. What would be awesome is hawk riders for high elves.

Hey Haldier! Thanks for the comment! I have not heard of this issue before. Is it always they do it or something that happens sometimes? Once I get a moment, I'll have a look. Could be a patch issue or another mod you're using, but it shouldn't conflict with other mods.

Hey Qel, I love your mods! Congrats, really! Just one question, I saw that on known issues you have none and I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this, but for me the eagles are riding the riders (remaining airborn with an advanced T-Pose technique... these elves are so evolved :-P) but yeah, now seriously, I don't know if anyone else is having this issue of the riders appearing under the eagles on a T pose, but it's a bummer cause the unit looks fantastic and I'd love to see them fighting the way they should!

It has the same skeleton for animations and then I would import treemen parts on top of the animation skeleton. Just like I put helmets on the hawks and masks on the elves

About new unit ideas, I have some
Eternal Guards variants/higher tier. Maybe a bit more resistant, even if not on par with other line holding units. Something along the line of the EG RoR.

Not really. Take the cyclops animations and projectiles and use the treemen units to make a unit. Just have to combine those two are you got a rock throwing ent 😊

I will get them vanguard deployment for sure. First priority was getting it updated and small changes. Next step is adding a feature, since that requires more brain power 😊 might do more units down the road.

Also, bit of info : you might want to redownload the mod for it to apply proprely.

They do look more balanced. Maybe a little too much missile power, but I really think they should have vanguard deployment, as the Hawk Riders have

@Aethel You did come with some good changes for sure :) I changed some of the things and took some of your suggestions. Some things i left as is. The mod is updated and some of the changes are in the description. Let me know how it fares and I will get around to test more hopefully soon :)

LMAO, did you see? HR got a buff, and they got the EXACT same melee attack and defense I said here. Seems I was pretty accurate on that stuff.

On the other hand, maybe AC stats improve don't need to be as drastic anymore. Maybe just a couple more poitns, like 32 MA and 26 MD, if at all.
The charge bonus should be raised at 46 though, same as HR, and not lower

I was also thinking, maybe raising the mass a bit could change something? HR have a bad tendency of being stuck inside groups of infantry. I'm not very sure about this, their mass seems to be 650? I havent found a reliable source for that, but maybe 800-900 mass would work. Shouldnt be too high though. WE cavalery used to have a 1000 mass (1200 post buff) so it should be quite lower than 1000 imo

It's a lovely idea! Good place to start and playtest for sure! Also like the idea of focusing in on a specific role. My initial idea was having an elf army without the need for ground rangers, but it will make them too good at everything, and we dont want that! I'll take your input and test what I like and give an update with how it works :D

Weapon Power : 50 (base 12, pierce 38) (alternarively, base 11, piercing 34, bonus against large 5, they will only perform better against large)
Charge bonus : 42
Ammunitions ; 24
Range ; 140
Missile strenght : 47 (Base 220, Piercing 16, reload time 7 sec)

Special : Fire while moving, vanguard deployment (something Arahans chosen dont have right now but HR do have), Missile resistance 20%

That's one idea, surely you can end up with better ones than me but hey, just sharing my opinion here :p

Well, I think waywatchers have 100% accuracy, on top of having a self damage boosting passive, so they perform better than they look, so you had to bump AC stats further for them to perform equally

But I don't think that should be their role : WW's role is sniping, deleting everything at range.
HR's role is to harass, hit and run, weaken the enemy before engaging (or having other units engage)
Personnaly, I would boost their survivabilty against range to help them with that, on top of small stats boost (stat in next post)

@athel Awesome feedback mate! I tested the ranged damage with spawing this unit and waywatchers in a custom game and having them attack the same type of unit and change until they kill things at the same speed. I'll look into the anti-infantry for sure. I'll look into the melee damage to match the model unit cap.

Really good suggestions, after the chaos dwarves I'll just update the mod so it works, and then I'll try and fiddle with the balance and update the mod for more testing :)

So, for a more precise feedback

Right now, it has the melee damage of Hippogryph Knights, but HK are a 8 models unit, compared to Hawk Riders a 24 models unit. I suggest you balance it using a 24 models unit (Pegasus Knights (Bretonia), Longma Riders (Cathay), or Raven Heralds (Dark Elves) could be used as models.
As for the ranged attack, balancing it around Waywatchers would mean no higher than 60 damage over 10 seconds, but I suggest not going over 50, even lower if you intend to keep poison arrows.
I don't think anti infantry is needed, the volley already SHREDS infantry. Maybe a couple points of anti-large (something like 7-8, on top of armor piercing)

As for melee attack/defense, seems pretty ok.
I would keep the armor unchanged.

I really like the concept of this mod, having a slightly better version of Hawk Riders sounds fun. But as of now, they are overpowered and may just break the balance of my games.

But that's just my own opinion

@crcr my plan is to only make it avaliable for the sisters of twillight, so also for players and the only AI faction that can have it. It's a bit slow in development since I got a new job and that's taking a lot of time. But I do have it in my scope. Appriciate the feedback!

@Zaruna all my mod does is add a new unit. The other mod owner has to make a sub mod for working with custom units, else I’d have to make a full submod of their mod, and I simply do not know how to do that.

I’ll write some ideas down for the spell caster, even tho that might be even more difficult, but I’ll give it a thought! Also been thinking of making a new idea for Alith Anar, since I like his faction and units, but him as a lord just feels underwhelming. So thinking about him first very likely. Might take inspiration from how the sisters of twilight work

Well Arahan's Chosen are execptional in melee, just like the regular hawkriders are. Their range is decent, but they excell in melee,as flying shock cavalry. So I don't see the need for a melee version :D But thanks for the suggestion! Also, Naestra is a pacifist, so I wouldn't even know where to start from a lore point in designing a unit for her, apart from re-modelling a life spell caster :)
