I checked the original mod (sorry but won't download from an unkown link ;) )
if you load my mod after this one it should work.
if it doesn't work and since seem to know how to modify the mod, open it with RPFM => go to db, then for the main_units_tables => rename it to a custom name instead of something startign with ~ like it is currently. and still load my mod AFTER the X2
You can also do a search by "caste" and simply delete all hereos and lords raws from the main_units table in the X2 mod. (then load order won't be important anymore)
If you don't know how to do that tell me and I could publish a new mod combining the two but it will take some time (It's not hard but I'm quite busy right now ^^ )

This mod indeed modify the same table as the one where unit size is. But load order should fix this, especially since lord or heroes are always 1 or 2 and won't be modified by such mod.
I don't really know, could you tell me the mod name, I will give it a look if i have some time :)

Is anyone able to get this mod to work with unit size mods? seems like there is a conflict and this mod gets overridden regardless or load order. really like this mod, but I can't play without 2x unit size.

That must be whats happening. How can I combine the two mods then? Would it be easier than the xml file modification script?

If he does it by modifying the XML files then they can't be both active at the same time. The solution for this to work would be for me or the other modder to replace XML file modification by a script. I won't have the time to to do this on my hand in the near future. Sorry for the inconvenience.
An other way would be to create a 3rd mod combining the two mods....

Yeah I run a -25% upkeep mod. That must be why this mod does not work. How do I add the -25% upkeep mod to this one so I can use both?

@Sylph Just tested to be sure and I can confirm it works on my hand. A quick way to be sure if it works or not : is to launch a new karl franz mortal empire campaign and to see if Karl franz upkeep is at 75 (if you don't have other mods modifying upkeep of course).
If not the most likely reason is that there is a conflict with an other mod modifying units and you should deactivate either my mod or this one.

updated for 5.1. "Dave" (the official modding tool) is working weirdly right now so i had to rely on external tools only (i normaly check if datas are coherent by using both teh official and an external tool).

Thanks for this. I took a peak at how you did it and I was able to get my lords costing 250 regardless of mount and my heroes 175, just the way I wanted. Much appreciation for showing the way!

updated for 3.0 + Chaos Dwarf DLC. No changes in the way the mod works. there will be no specific "grim dark" version of this mod since both increasing upkeep or dimishing it could mean a harder campaign depending on the other mods you use. If you have suggestions I can take them into account (but I promise nothing ;) )

About compatibility i have not found specific reasons for the incompatibility mentionned. Please continue to report any incompatibility you may find. As a rule : any mod modifying main_unit is most certianly incompatible but others should be fine

Update will have to wait at least until friday for me to have a look at it (so expect an update tommorow at the soonest or more likely during the week-end) A major update and rework (+different versions (grim dark)) of all my mods is scheduled for the 8th of May.

I thought the same. Loaded up several new games trying to narrow this one down because it made no sense to me. Not a big deal and I wouldn't worry about it much as I have backups of all the mods I use and I just rolled this one back to get things working together again. But if others come seeking a similar issue it might be worth investigating.

TLDR: Using Organic AI mod and Less upkeep for lords and heroes results in AI turn ctd. Only way I got it to work is to rollback to previous version of Less upkeep. Rolling back Organic AI and keeping recent version of Less upkeep mod did not work.

After recent updates with this mod and the Organic AI mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2854310042 my new skaven playthrough crashes without fail on Clan Angrund's AI turn. If I disable the Organic AI mod and keep this one, no crash. If I disable the Less upkeep mod and keep Organic AI, no crash. But if both are running on their current version, ctd without fail. The only way I could get past the turn crash is to roll back to an older version of the Less upkeep mod. Rolling back to an older version of Organic AI mod and using the most recent version of the Less upkeep mod still results in ctd.

Updated for 2.4, no change to values, checked the whole Main_units and rebuilt the mod from scratch just to be sure (I do that from times to time ;) )

I think it's something left from CA's historical titles (médieval,, rome, etc.). A king/emperor/ruler have, for sure, the need to spend a lot to keep the nobility happy (buy them things, organise feasts, go to war for them, ...). Even if warhammer fantazy is "medieval based" the magical factor / world ending threat makes upkeep seems irrelevant.

In our minds (in mine at least) a "legendary" lord and a "hero" are not the same as a simple general. It's also perhaps a result of the port from tabletop where they indeed cost a lot to avoid hero spam. it works for a battle but in a campaign, imbalance of forces is inevitable and money should not be what prevents it.

TLDR : I agree 100% that's why I made this mod ;)

Hey, thank you for making this mod. I always wanted a mod that gave the lords less upkeep because I never understood why 45 men with rifles have less upkeep than one guy on a horse.
