fair point, would likely be much more tedious. I have been looking into map making for gmod and this is inspiring

Ive considered it, and it may happen some day however for now im creating something a bit less intense.

ever thought about a jungle ruin temple of any sort?

The secret to making a map feel bigger is smart use of fog, thanks for the positive comment.
(im currently concepting a third map, seeing if it's to my liking or not, will be another open map, but with perhaps a bit more variety)

Just wanted to say - this is really great, especially for a second map. It's open enough while still being detailed and performant, and has that "bigger than it is" feeling great build maps do. Keep it up!

This looks awesome

ai nodes is as simple as putting entities down onto the grid with a distance to 400 units of eachother
Sock Uuno  [author] 5 Oct, 2022 @ 3:30pm
The render distance is the maximum of the source engine, if you mean where the terrain starts to suddenly clip that is, the fog itsself i simply put there for the sake of performance, also AI nodes is not something im knowledgeable in, so i simply made the decision to not add them

i love it, but the render distance is annoying

Beware that loose-packing some stuff - particularly models & textures in L4D2 can cause weird vertex hash bugs that turns props invisible (and also lag the game to crap for some reason.)

Also compared to BspZIP it will use more of the engine's memory limit - however that's not much of an issue as long as its only a small amount of files.

For the textures & simple models here though it's perfectly fine.

All good, just letting you know.

It's also much less of a pain in the ass as a map creator as well. Crowbar lets you ignore the workshop whitelist, so I was finally no longer forced to embed the soundscapes.
Sock Uuno  [author] 1 Oct, 2022 @ 2:15pm
Will keep that in mind for the next map, for this one there really wasnt much custom content that one could make much use of, just some trees and bushes
V92 1 Oct, 2022 @ 11:53am
Ideally just leave the custom content loose-packed into the add-on. It'll compress to a smaller file size, and you can fix any potential bugs without worrying about corrupting the map's checksum.

Also allows users to spawn/use the content from the spawn menu, increasing the usage.
