Yes, only classroom teaching.
Zairya 3 Jul @ 11:51pm
Just to be sure:
This only applies to classroom teaching? It does not involve "watch work" learning? I often have refugees with different ideologies interacting with my children... or the other way around actually.

And a +1 for the 1.6 update if possible :)
any chance thisll be updated to 1.6?

The only "social commentary" I saw from this was that the people you learn from shape who you become as a person. I guarantee that 99% of children who would call themselves part of a certain religion, do so because the adults in their lives are of that religion. It makes even more sense when you acknowledge that "teaching" in this game isn't the kind most of society has in real life, it's one-on-one tutoring, which is even more likely to have an impact on how you turn out than someone teaching a full class.
A shitton of shitties 28 Mar @ 10:20pm
It might not be intended as social commentary, but if the boot fits...
Kaschey 12 Dec, 2024 @ 4:58pm
Thank you for your answer. And yeah, all the other errors... they're just there. Some of them are not there (I removed a mod that adds mini-horns and then added it again, and for some reason, they game won't stop complaining even though the mod functions perfectly fine), and most errors were there from the very beginning of the game but didn't affect my game in any meaningful way.
Kathanon  [author] 12 Dec, 2024 @ 10:04am
It was in a state that is not supposed to be able to happen. I'm guessing something went wrong when saving or loading. You should be fine adding the mod again as long as you load a save made after you removed it.

I've made an update that makes it handle errors such as that one, so once Steam actually updates it for you, it shouldn't happen again (including for saves with that error).

There is a big risk of other issues with that save unrelated to this mod though. It throws a lot of errors when loading.
Kaschey 12 Dec, 2024 @ 3:57am
Not sure how exactly that happened but yesterday, this mod suddenly broke AI of one of my colony's children - he was wondering around aimlessly and doing nothing while constantly trying to floordraw. Removing the mod immediately solved the problem.

Here's the log: https://gist.github.com/HugsLibRecordKeeper/935325728ee32b65bbb330625def57c0

I hope something can be done about it because I really like this mod and has been using it for multiple playthroughs.

@Snorri_Karlson

It is also the fact that some "groups" are known to be very toxic..even amongst themselves, so other players who wish the community to have at least some level of quality see no choice but to push against these, if you ask me, they diserve each other, i only comment when it is "internal" polictics, AKA : entitled fans of big modders trying to force other creators to adapt their mods.

And i too am a fan of the BONES mod.

"this is not intended as social commentary"

im dying xd mf just wanted to make it easier to convert children without imprisoning them & everyone made it weird
Kathanon  [author] 4 May, 2024 @ 11:22pm
Correct, the certainty recuction added by this mod is not shown in the log.
Fahrräder 4 May, 2024 @ 2:18am
Oh, it was definitely more than 1-2% from the teacher's side (like 4-7%) - and there were notes on it in the social log. I take it that the mod doesn't display the pupil's certainty going down in the log then? If so, oh well, I guess it was just a series of "fortunate" events :)
Kathanon  [author] 3 May, 2024 @ 10:02pm
@Fahrräder
Did only the teacher lose confidence or was the pupil's also ticking down (1-2% at a time)? It can happen that the pupil makes a random vanilla conversion attempt on the teacher, just because they are in close proximity. If that is the case, you should be able to see it in the social log.
Kathanon  [author] 3 May, 2024 @ 2:36am
I'll look into it.
Fahrräder 3 May, 2024 @ 2:35am
Hi! I think I just had my "teacher", not the student, lose his confidence in his ideoligion during a lesson 3 times.

P.S. Fantastic idea for a mod.

Updated for RimWorld 1.5.
Renzor 9 Apr, 2024 @ 6:32am
thanks!

Thank you for the update!

Updated for RimWorld 1.5.
Jeriko06 29 Apr, 2023 @ 2:32pm
pretty cool mod. I always thought it was kinda jarring having to imprison children in order for them to adopt the colony ideology
e.b 15 Feb, 2023 @ 7:08am
Thanks! IMO this mod is a must have on certain playthroughs (rich explorer, naked brutality).
lol 6 Dec, 2022 @ 3:29am
I'm pretty sure this is vanilla already. I remember AdamvsEverything commentary in his playthrough that kids are really easy to convert/recruit. Am I wrong?
Hawke 8 Nov, 2022 @ 7:18pm
Good mod idea. It is very annoying to rescue a child then to have to go through all the crazy conversion morals.
Lt. Robert Coleman 4 Nov, 2022 @ 11:09am
people who think that Rimworld workshop is the place for politics worry me.

You play a game where you can make hats out of people and you think you have a moral foot to stand on?

well actually you have quite a few considering the floors are made of the bones of the unbelievers
Kathanon  [author] 1 Nov, 2022 @ 4:22am
@Shape430
Should be fine to add and remove. Maybe a one-time error on removal.

@Simmin
Thank you. :)
Simmin 31 Oct, 2022 @ 8:02pm
just saw the suggestion for this in a rhadamant video. good mod idea and well made! i just have to remember to make sure all my teachers are of my ideology.
Bopit606 31 Oct, 2022 @ 7:36pm
Is this save game compatible?
Ministry of Truth 30 Oct, 2022 @ 5:58pm
I misread the title of the mod and got really worried for a second
Trace Projectile 30 Oct, 2022 @ 5:30pm
I respect that response.
Kathanon  [author] 30 Oct, 2022 @ 5:29pm
@Trace Projectile
Thank you, that was kind. I won't try to convince you, I mostly just didn't want the comment thread to devolve into a discussion on that topic. I'm sure there are several good threads on that over on reddit. :)
Trace Projectile 30 Oct, 2022 @ 5:20pm
I took it back out of respect for you and your mod page though my opinion on Rimworld quality of life and DLC integration remains.
Kathanon  [author] 30 Oct, 2022 @ 4:57pm
@Trace Projectile @Jirnu
Come on, don't be like that. Making a game is a huge project, and especially in one as complicated as RimWorld, there is is going to be some gaps that were not discovered before release. Also, not everyone has the same opinon on how things should be, and mods lets everyone have their own way.
Ludeon is pretty good with patching things after release as well - a lot of companies don't bother.
SanguinarcAQL 30 Oct, 2022 @ 9:50am
Hey that is a good idea ! Nice mod dude
Kathanon  [author] 29 Oct, 2022 @ 4:18pm
@Complete Casual @Dakon
You are welcome, thanks for dropping a comment. :)
Dakon 29 Oct, 2022 @ 2:59pm
Thanks a lot for this mod.
Complete Casual 29 Oct, 2022 @ 1:11am
thanks :) adopted a kid and they will soon be school age and this will help
Kathanon  [author] 28 Oct, 2022 @ 2:04am
Should be fine to add. Let me know if you run into any problems with it.
Cosmic 28 Oct, 2022 @ 1:56am
Hey, thank you so much for the mod! I just wondered if it is save game compatible? Can we add to an existing save without issues? Thanks!
Jirnu 27 Oct, 2022 @ 8:43pm
there are so man mods that fix things youd expect to be in vanilla biotech, makes me have such a sour taste in my mouth for it to be honest(
commandermerik 27 Oct, 2022 @ 4:52pm
Now that I see this mod, I'm kind of shocked that this wasn't a mechanic in the base game.
Kokorocodon 27 Oct, 2022 @ 3:53pm
"Listen kid. I know you think you are a big shoot and all but all the furries in this colony are not a world threat. If you join us we will give you a heavy load of genetic modifications and you will be awesome just like us forever, UwU. What do you say, bub?"
TurtleShroom 27 Oct, 2022 @ 3:04pm
Get one of those Transgender Mods and this poop will REALLY hit the fan.

(Great work on the Mod, BTW. Take my Award.)
Ultimoos 26 Oct, 2022 @ 2:58pm
This makes perfect sense.
ryoyo 26 Oct, 2022 @ 1:14pm
Children are impressionable and prone to imitation by nature. The saying goes that they're "like a sponge".
This is so apparent that I don't see why the devs didn't just put it in themselves.
Rhadamant 26 Oct, 2022 @ 12:38pm
This mod solves the issue for when children seek refuge in your community who have wildly differing ideologies from your own. You can call it brainwashing, but realistically if a child was adopted into a community of a different culture, that child would quickly assimilate to that new culture. This mod makes RimWorld far more realistic and shouldn't be dogwhistled as 'BRAINWASHING' or any nonsense like that.
Kathanon  [author] 26 Oct, 2022 @ 12:19pm
@TSense
Aaah, thank you for injecting a lovely dose of perspective. Made my day. :D
TSense 26 Oct, 2022 @ 12:14pm
Can confirm this as realistic. My teacher was a pain worshipping blind cannibal and after listing to him doing math problems for 2 years i cut my eyes out and also became a pain loving cannibal.
