Nice look, but clearly room for improvements. Crew management is not optimized, this is the most difficult part of the game : to reach max efficiency with minimal crew. By a simple look it's obvious engines don't need that much. Beds location etc... make sure each crew member is linked to a specific task and never stay idle. You can't just put all bedrooms same loc and hope for the best. Also armor not needed on some location, this makes the ship heavy for no reason. Like crew, less is better. With half the crew you can have 2x ship at same game level !

For going backwards lets just say that all my first ships were not designed to go backward fast, the new generall that will come with my newer design might correct that.

Design just got updated (picture updated with changes), i can say that I'm finally back on the game so more things for Atlas System to come

If I understand the tutorial correctly, combining more than two ion beams of equal strength into one actually decreases its performance. Your design has a three-into-one setup, so... ^^
Also, how do you get this behemoth to a quick stop? I only see two medium deceleration thrusters counteracting eight large main thrusters.
That said, nice design. Thanks for sharing :-).

i am new in Game, but stil ship needs to be in max shoting range all time,u maybe dont have enough speed to fly backwards ?

Ship was made in the demo and I forgot to update this part of the ship

Why did u use 4 small reactors instead of one large reactor?
hyperjason818 5 Nov, 2022 @ 4:23pm
im not able to use it because of a glitch not sure if its because i have the game on steam deck or if its a normal glitch

Same, I've barely actually played too. There are just so many ideas for ships to build.

I was taking a small break from the game as since its lauch I've been only playing it (nothing else) and building ships (I did not exceed 2 hours of play on my campaign) but tonight i will get back on the game and do heavy update on all ships I've made and maybe releases new ships.

Further, replace all your small reactors with big ones. This energy setup is very cost-inefficient.

Ion chamber looks cool, but when facing a rival ion ship that barrels all of its energy down the middle with a spinal mount, this chamber will explode almost instantly, because it has only 2 shields. Put two large shields within your ion chamber so that their shields only cover the inside of the barrel to prevent this.
And as others have pointed out, combination needs rework.

Wow thanks ! Will include them and credit you in the description. I don't know the beam config that much

I've tried to improve on your design, here's 3 versions with 8 beams, 16 beams and 8 beams with improved reverse thrusters. Feels free to include them here, if you do I'll delete mine. Main changes are the prism layout and my personal preference to include a targeting prism with some shield for larger coverage. Love your shape design though, I don't have eyes for aesthetic and every ion ships I make ends up a cube at some point.

Also I recommend using big reactor instead of 4 small ones, 1 big reactor battery (the things the crews carry around) give 3 charges instead of 1 of the small, so you can power things 3 times faster.

This is a very, very, very inefficient design. And i'm not even talking about prism damage. Instead of having 5 prism to redirect every 4 beams, you can just use 2, have them hit from both side and focus those 2 set into 1 central beam.

Ion prisms are most efficient when combining two beams of equal strength. Right now, the final prism combines 5 beams of nowhere near equal strength. Rearranging the prism chamber could significantly improve the ship's firepower.
