Well, it is the fact that not everyone plays on the most-up-to-date-version all the time. they have spent months (maybe years) playing on a save, and they don't like that their incest wives and husbands are breaking up now that the mod that allowed it no longer works. By the hundred hells, there are some people still playing on Rimworld 1.3, even, and some people playing on 1.4. maybe more on some of the older versions that this mod used to support. I'm not saying revert the changes here, hells no. Just quickly made a github, upload whatever versions supported up to and including 1.5. When you're off vacation, of course. hope it's going well, by the way, and I hope these unfortunately negative comments, like mine, don't get you too stressed out. After all, you're a human, too! Right? Or you could be a gerbil, I dunno. As long as you're not an AI, lol

But anyways, the 1.6 mod update had enough code changes that it is not compatible much with a 1.5 game? if that's case might be best for a separate upload for the 1.5 copy?

@IDAZIZ Ok you're making me feel bad and guilty now. I still don't understand it (how is a 200 modded experience better and worth days/weeks/months of wait over the actual game's update that brings so many features,improvements,fixes and a whole new dlc, is truly baffling to me), but even if i don't, alright, i will add back 1.5 support as soon as im back from my vacation. I will try my best.

I've used it for a long medieval game that''d gone on for several in-game decades (before the mod updated to 1.6); gives the game that Habsburg feel.

i've been using your mod for years now, since 2022, and was looking forward to every single update and reading the change logs in the comments, i don't usually do that with other mods, it broke my heart when my RimSort told me that your mod among all my 399 mods was the only one that removed 1.5 support.

more than 85% of my mods haven't updated, and i have 222 mods, like with every major update i'll wait for my mods to update, please just make a separate 1.5 archive for us, i was really invested with your mod having my children reach the pure blooded genes.

Oh boy i feel like i'm in some surreal situation, like why are you not simply on 1.6? it is out, this is the default, stable, up to date game version, plus an awesome new dlc that runs on this version only, but you wanna miss out on everything they bring just because some modders haven't bothered to update their mods yet? and somehow my niche small and totally unnecessary mod is apparently necessary for your outdated game? like seriously... xd

literally could upload the old version they wont be doing anything with 1.5 so no need to maintain it or update it. you could just add it as a link to it in the description of this mod. problem solved easy.

@Zorg Thanks those are good ideas for sure. And like i said i don't have a problem with adding those to evil/hostile NPC factions. My new FAQ (because this gets asked a lot) about why no forbidden/disapproved precepts refers to player colonies only. Not npc ones. It's just a matter of me needing time/effort to implement this and have very little at this time.

@Bop872 and zeus57007 There isn't and i made a lot of changes/fixes this month since the local switch. Tbh i wasn't expecting comments about this, it's not like i haven't done my job in keeping my mod up to date with the stable branch. If other mods haven't and are lacking behind it's their problem. If i can successfully figure out a way to support both i will though.

I think people want the "forbidden" or "disapproved" incest precepts for when they customize NPC factions. There's no reason not to add them, as this isn't a political statement, instead I see this mod as making Incest just like other social taboos in Rimworld, like cannibalism.

Without ideology it defaults to real-world social norms (RWSN for short), but with ideology it moves to precepts, where the default precepts line up with RWSN (such that ideoligions that deviate from RWSN exist but are the exception). You could also bias certain faction types towards or away from inbreeding, and this could be configured by mod XML settings (so people can craft the experience they want).

I've had an idea since shortly after Ideology released to overhaul the genetics system (and bring it into line with Mendelian genetics), but that's a different discussion.

@AnaeL What do you mean? My mod is not based on or related to any other mod.

@McGuirk for practical effort/maintenance reasons, it's a niche mod and have no time to support the few subscribers who will play on old versions going forward.

@Kimo' For NPC factions, I've actually considered adding anti-incest precepts specifically for evil factions like someone else suggested at some point. I think that could create interesting faction conflicts like you mentioned. It's a bit of work though and i have too much on my plate rn to add new features, but at some point i will probably tackle both this and the trait/opinion based idea. Neither will be what you (and others) are requesting exactly, i know, and i share your interest in richer roleplay stories, but it is unfortunate indeed that the world is what it is.

I understand the reasoning, but that's unfortunate. I really like to customize other faction's ideo as well, and making some of them be against incest would make sense and really enhance roleplay. Also I fell like a trait would make that event a little too rare to be enjoyable.

@Kimo Thank you! As for your suggestion: not as a player colony precept since that goes against my mod's pro-incest stance, but I've had the idea for a while to add a bigoted trait/opinion that could be overcome over time with exposure (basically like how it often works IRL). But it's harder to implement (in a way that could not be exploited) than i thought so not sure when i'll be able to make something like it.

@ApocRNG Is it? Hmm maybe it's just a cache/timing issue, unsubscribing and resubscribing might help.

@Scorpio I had to make multiple changes in code to be able to migrate to 1.6 and i was unable to make it compatible with both versions, so after today's official release of it i'm only gonna support the latest version going forward.

I must say I really appreciate this mod, and while it's great for roleplay when making a royal bloodline that value pure blood for exemple, it's a bit sad that there isn't a variation of the Kin seeking variant that is hostile to incest. It would be great to justify hostility between factions, or simulate internal conflicts in the colony. I'd really appreciate if you could consider this!

@Immortan Joe you pasted the same thing haha (mod and patches initialization only), there are no errors in the logs you're sharing, and certainly no errors related to my mod, so unless you share that i can't really help you sorry.

Alright guys, finally 1.6 update! Made a lot of technical improvements too and added settings profiles as per the suggestion to have a lite version (which is the default). Also i have fixed the vat grown bug and also attempted to fix the duplicated inbred genes bug that happened due to conflict with gene-related mods, so pls do let me know if you still encounter any issues going forward.

@Immortan Joe I've fixed a few bugs during this period, and will release those fixes tomorrow, so it could be that the error you are getting is fixed in the upcoming version, but in case it isn't, can you share it with me? If you have HugsLib installed you can share the logs easily using that or just copy/paste into gist.github.

@Liseiko If it was a popular mod i'd definitely look into that more, but as it is certainly not, i don't think it's worth, only a few days left anyway! :D

@Liseiko I'd love to be able to update it already since i have a lot of technical and UI improvements ready but i don't wanna break players' existing v1.5 save files and i haven't managed to find a way to support both versions, so I'm afraid we're gonna have to wait until v1.6 is on the default stable branch. Only 2 weeks left tho!

@Torhem OH now I get it, you found a bug! My mod currently blocks ALL growth vat babies from getting bloodline genes (since these genes are inherited, endo genes only, so im blocking artificial gene editing), even when they have blood-related parents which is incorrect, the system should allow natural bloodline inheritance when you fertilize eggs between related pawns. I'll fix this in the next update, thanks for reporting!

For your second question: Father-daughter is generation 1 (10% chance of inbred/strong gene). The generational system tracks successive incestuous pairings so since your starting pawns AB are generation 0, their kids CD are generation 1, so AD would create generation 2 children (40% chance of inbred/strong gene)

@idontcare I have the "Strong blood" gene enabled in the ideology settings. I have 2 pawns, a brother and sister from the start (A, B). They have a son and a daughter (C, D). I got 5 eggs from B and D. Fertilized these 10 eggs with pawns A and C. Tried both types of "Strong blood" gene appearance in the mod settings. Rebooted several times - the "Strong blood" gene did not appear in the embryo in the "inspect baby genes" window. Maybe I'm just unlucky and didn't
get the prize.
And one more question. When setting Gene inheritance mode - Generational - Is the father-daughter relationship considered a first generation relationship (with a 10% chance) or a second generation relationship (with a 40% chance)?

@Torhem Still not sure i understood you correctly sorry. The father is the brother/father? And you had the strong blood gene enabled in settings, or you didn't? Did they get the gene at birth?
