@Alus | Herrscher of the Void: I second this, it has a higher dps than heavy blasters while using less crew and only slightly more command points.Also it has a very high turn rate and can even fire over other autocannons. cool concept but it could do with being a bit more balanced

2.4k DPS for a 3x3 seems a bit... Too strong- Even with 2 power/s. I love the concept, but it seems a bit strong to me.

@Cpt. Hououin Kyouma: Your best bet with nukes is to dodge them as they arent guided after the launch sequence, you can rotate your ship and the nuke will try to target an are to the side.

Hi, im searching for a good def against nukes. Sometimes i have the feeling Point def and flaks are just useless against that bigboys and i dont want to fly with a huge ball in the front to eat the nukes. Soooo if i set them to missle defend will they actually shot down some? ^^

where can i change the weapons behaviour? btw i cant find any mods on my PC... the directory the game opens is EMPTY -> ?!?!? (i´m admin, i can see every file, hidden ones are visible etc.) i dont get it...

Apparently this weapon just got tweaked, which is a good thing, because 4000 dps for just 1 energy cost was far too OP. But now it's only 2400 dps for 2 cost, which makes it a good multi-purpose weapon. Nice job!

Also, big advantage of a patch mod is that you can have all modifications of other mods in single file. Pretty easy to see and adjust.

RubADuck: It's simpler, yes. But that way your changes are overridden after each update. That's why a lot of people make their own patch mod. For little bit of initial work (if you copy/paste it from some source it gets down just to specify the mod's folder path) you get solution which persists your settings through updates.

I just wanna ask, you put in the work and explained how to make a patch for this mod, but you have to add an individual path for every user who will use this right?
At this point it's simpler to just open the original mod settings and change the settings there, instead doing a patch.
Or am I understanding something wrong here?

Shuri-Sama: Yes, just look into the mod's files, all numeric settings are in the .rules files, there is one for turret (stuff like hp, crew, energy, turn speed and also the fire rate, burst, and so on..) and one for the shot, which is about the projectile stuff like damage, collision types, etc. - if you're not sure, just join the official discord and ask how to make own "patch mod".

is it posible to reduce shotiing ratio? i really luv this weapon but i had to remove it from my ship cause causing so many lags. so i think if it shoot less i still ca use it

Awesome mod and extra awesome to include how to patch mods using existing mods (i've been making edited .rules files and keeping them seperate and overriding changes each patch!!)

It appears that the autocannon is incapable of taking out missiles despite having the defensive option to do so. Messing around with 2 identical missile cruisers to try and figure out if it's a viable point defense replacement and I've now watched every single incoming missile get hit directly dozens of times and not get taken out. Is this intentional?

Alrinnann: That's not an oversight. It is an intention and main reason of making this weapon - to be able to have it anywhere and have it grouped if you want. This is 2D game so while normally the weapons would have their height adjusted to be able to fire through each other, here we need to use some imagination.

PyxelDust: Before I update this for everyone I need to really think about it. Meanwhile check instructions about how to modify this weapon the way you want so your changes persist even after update. A lot of people told me they already use such modifications with mine and other mods. Anyway, thanks for feedback:)

The weapon idea is fantastic, I really like it. But due to some of the features of it, I find it far too overpowered to be balanced.

A couple of suggestions that I can give for it are:
Slow down the turret rotation speed to more closely match the Deck gun, it shouldn't rotate around quite so quickly

Up the crew requirement, even the heavy laser requires two people to man it; I'd suggest something around 4-6 crew requirement. The strong trade off for using lasers over shells is that they require a lot of power and crew transfer vs the raw resources and manufacturing facilities.

Similar to the above, the power requirement of the gun is pretty low, I'd consider doubling or even tripling it's usage such that it's a power hungry beast

Consider reigning in the range a bit, it outclasses the deck gun in range AND accuracy. Perhaps keep the range but make the shots less accurate so that it's more of a longer range burst spray that sacrifices accuracy for distance.

I've found a glaring oversight with this as a deck weapon. It does not block other deck weapons (guns can fire through this one without colliding). This is a little too good a weapon if this is the intended design..

Yes indeed I LOVE this turret for bigger ships. That way you have an efficient way to defend against swam attacks while not looking like a porcupine with guns sticking out at all ends.
It's just that you already have 360° firing radius + fast firing + the damage of 4000/sec.

So we made it 2000/sec since it cost you tristeel so it had to be better than the large laser.
Dunno, maybe there is another way to balance it? Like a research needed (dunno if you modder can do that atm).
On another note, is it possible to use that turret as a point defense weapon prioritize incoming missiles?

We tweaked the DMG to 125 / shot so it has a DPS of 2000/sec.

After some playtesting I think the dps is good but the accuracy is not. But when used correctly it's indeed lethal weapon. Will try to balance it over time but probably the best solution is what some players are doing - creating own set of values to tune it the way you like it.

great mod, I really like the autocannon I just feel like its a bit to good in comparrison to the heavy laser gun. I think you should definitly nerf the rotaion speed of the turrets, It´s crazy fast

i use alot of them. together with the laser turrents it makes a great weapon. bit more range would be nice the smaller enemies always get under my shields so need to kill them before they do.

This mod looks interesting. As part of the mod description though could you explain a bit about the stats? What kind of range, fire rate, power usage, etc? Just a basic stat block so people have an idea of what this turret does.

You can also ask on discord how to make own patch mod, which is a simple mod where in single file you can modify specific values across multiple other mods. Advantage of that is that you keep your changes even if the individual mods receive an update (which would otherwise reset your direct modifications).

How to change damage (or other values):

Right click the mod in game, open its folder and find file "autocannon_shot.rules" in the folder with same name. Don't confuse it with "autocannon.rules", one file is for the cannon, other is for the shot. All values you might want to change are inside of these .rules files.

Just fixed the problem with the rotation too so try it. Was forced to make the middle of the room passable through but I guess it's not a problem since all crew can walk through each other:)
