Awesome mod. Compelled me to actually get appropriate portraits for my usual colonists. Was wondering, how complex would it be/are there any plans to have a "Per Xenotype" portrait option, similar to "Per Faction"?

I prefer to add portraits in real time. and having to wait 15 minutes every time I want to add a new portrait is not great

4. Run img2img with Stable Diffusion on it. I use a denoise of 0.7, AnythingV3 model, and pretty basic prompt (describing how the pawn looks, age, some features like traits and profession). Realistic artstyle will be much harder than anime and might need a higher denoise.

5. Once you get a pic you like, shrink it to 500x500, then crop the sides to 430x500. Use the magic wand to delete the white background (making it transparent). Choose the transparent parts with magic wand, do Effects -> Selection -> Outline Selection. Make it 1-2 width. Remove the outlines at the edges. Basically the whole portrait will have an outline. Without the outline it will look much worse.

Some familiarity with Stable Diffusion is needed. If you don't have Stable Diffusion installed, this guide might help: https://rentry.org/voldy

1. You need: Stable Diffusion, Paint.net with this https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/32048-boltbaits-plugin-pack-for-pdn-v406-updated-aug-16-2017/ plugin pack, Sozai Maker mod.

2. Use Sozai Maker to capture the pic of your pawn.

3. Crop the pic so that it's still a square, with bottom of character being cropped (so that it won't be "floating"), and leaving a bit of space on top of the head (so that the head won't be cut off). It will be something like 300x300. Fill the background with white instead of transparent.

Took some effort to figure out how to make decent character art, but this seems pretty good for me. Head clipping is a bit silly, but ehh, will do for now, not too noticeable anyway. https://imgur.com/a/NNyT4O3

Not too hard once you understand the workflow. Of course, if you don't have Stable Diffusion installed, it is going to be the hardest part. Also due to Rimworld pawns being abstract blobs, it's hard to generate a human without losing resemblance to the pawn.

If people are curious, I'll explain the workflow.

@Daniel+ This allows you to put whatever picture you want in the bottom left, you have to put your own picture into the mod's folder for it to show up in game.

Just so I understand how it works - The Mod allows to add your own pictures to the game to be shown on the bottom left? It's not like the Pictures are generated, right?

I actually have one more suggestion - a setting where I can input offset and scale values that are used for all portaits - right now you need to adjust every portait one by one (for example if I want it in the bottom left corner in certain scale).

Would it be possible to use the picked portaits in the colonist bar instead of the pawns there? Or, for example, have the portait on top with a pawn on the bottom in the colonist bar, would be awesome.

This is a temporary measure, but the RimHUD display is now supported.
If there seems to be no problem, I will adopt it as is.

It is possible to work with rimHUD at the same time.
However, the portrait would be displayed above the buttons because it is different from the normal Window size.

Currently, you can adjust the Y offset of the portrait in the mod settings.
With the default rimHUD settings, a Y offset of about -55 will fit just fine.

We will try to implement support for rimHUD soon.

I have wasted SO MUCH TIME generating and editing pictures for my colonists. So far, I've got two portraits, and the bee lady still needs some work. The fox girl picture was the result of putting the pawn icon picture into an AI generator and tweaking things from there.

・Added the ability to set coordinate offsets and scales for Colonist and Pet images.

This update completes the originally planned functionality.
Future plans to implement a function that switches the displayed image according to the Pawn status will be considered in the near future.

@Camille, yes, they are AI generated. It's VERY easy to use AI to generate high quality images for characters and perfect for this mod. I think I did base the initial images on a drawing I made and went from there.

The following functions are added
・Portrait display can now be toggled ON/OFF using the button at the bottom right of the screen.

The following features will be added in the future.
・Portraits can also be displayed on pets.
・Offset and scaling of coordinates can be set for each image.
・Enable to switch the image to be displayed according to the Pawn status.

I really like this mod! I personally like using thisanimedoesnotexist to generated my colonist images. Would it be possible to align the images with the top of the colonist window if the images happen to be a bit smaller? Currently my 500x500px waifus are hovering several pixels over the window. I predict this will soon be a top mod. I have already created art for all of my colonists for display in-game and it really helps keep me immersed.

Added the feature to assign an image to each Faction.
The image used for a Faction should be named "(any string)_XX.png".
