@Taranchuk Nope, just my personal ships I've designed. If you subscribe to it, you can add it to your ship library to be able to build it in the game as one of your own ships though!

Do these ships appear in the game as NPC ships?

@Darth Porgus Correct, while it has some shields, they are not able to withstand sustained fire for long. Your best bet is to use this type of ship as part of a squadron of multiple fighters, or at least backup for your main Destroyer. It should be able to handle lower level enemies fairly easily though

Also seems cools. So this ship is intended to flank the enemy and put damage out instead of taking all the damage in, right?

Cool. Looking forward to it. I like the idea of a cheap anti-shield escort and have my own. Seems like a very effective ship type vs AI.

@Yaddah Yeah, it's unfortunately not the most effective ship 1v1 in AI battles because it's not designed to be the primary target. If I had planned to use it more as a Destroyer, I would have gone with much more armor instead of the full shield coverage. The speed did end up lower than I had planned. I was somewhat restricted by the function this craft was built for, which is a heavy support interceptor with enough Disruptors to quickly shut down shields or other vital components from a flanking position.

Definitely learned a lot while building it and if I make a Mk2 or a more combat/price optimized version, I have a list of changes I would want to make. Thrust might be the one thing I adjust and update on this ship, but anything beyond that would be a full overhaul and a new ship design.

So I tested your ship vs my new Ion Kite in AI vs AI. The Akama first destroyed my left prism battery, but then couldn't catch the Kite going at about 90m/s in reverse and use all of its weapons (thankfully, because the AI often doesn't kite at all). It took the help of EMP missiles to get through the Akama's strong shields, but thankfully the AI was able to kill the large ones during their short down time before it ran out of EMP missiles.

I'd suggest you make your interceptor a bit faster, as it would've won, had it been able to close the distance. Maybe get rid of some of the backwards facing large shields and rely on thruster cover or back facing PD instead. That should save a lot of money that can be put into thrust.

@Nepofine Once you subscribe, it's automatically added to your ship library in the Steam Workshop folder. You can load it into the creative from the ship library, or to upgrade one of your current ships to this design, go into Build mode, hit the Ship Editor Menu, and Load Ship Design

how can put the ship in the game?
Yaddah 17 Nov, 2022 @ 1:29pm
No I'm not. But I've already figured it out. It's the difference btween saving and copying. Merely copying and pasting it into a pic editor results in that beige background colour.
Anthraax  [author] 17 Nov, 2022 @ 5:43am
Nope, didn't change anything, just the in-game ship menu screenshot feature with default settings. Are you on the Cosmoteer Official Discord? I'm sure we can figure it out there
Yaddah 17 Nov, 2022 @ 5:32am
When I take such a high res screenshot, it for some reason doesn't default to black for the background colour, but to beidge for me. Looks kinda ugly imo. Did you change anythingfor the settings of that screenshot, or does it just turn out for you like this by default?

Thx for the praise. Your ship can probably deal with mist things because it's likely good at orbiting, being a diagonal design.

Right under Save Ship Design in the ship menu, Screenshot > Exterior, Interior, or Blueprint. It gives nice high res screenshots, compared to the first pic which is just an in-game screenshot (Ctrl+Alt+C) with the system background. Which btw you can also change the color of the background system in creative mode to better match your paint scheme for screenshots lol

Also, thank you! I'm a fan of your ships too. One of the many things I appreciate is the consistency of your paint scheme among your whole fleet. This was actually designed to fill much the same combat role as your Lisboa, which may or may not have inspired this build...! >.>

Not designed to take heavy direct fire, but an excellent support addition to your fleet that can brush off a few hits while it flanks behind enemies to cripple them while your main Destroyer engages them from the front. Or, at least, that's how I use it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yaddah 17 Nov, 2022 @ 4:40am
Btw, how do you take blueprint/exterior/interior screenshots of ships that have a black background? For me the background is always a weird beige colour.
Yaddah 17 Nov, 2022 @ 4:38am
That looks very good and has a nice shield setup. Looking forward to testing it against my ships. :)
