Thank you for the dragon quest skin, I have been really enjoying playing Erdrick using this character! It helps scratch the itch of wanting to play Hero from the Smash Bros DLC on rivals of aether.

This is one of the most impressive, well done, inventive characters I've seen. He's a joy to play and a challenge to master. Love what you've done with him. I'd love to see future projects of yours~

Excellent character with an out-of-left-field origin.

Hope you plan on adding more skills in the future, perhaps behind higher level caps so you can justify making them stronger.

If anything, you have ice and fire, so a lighting neutral special, perhaps one that spawns a cloud a bit ahead and above Harold that shoots a lighting stream right down would be cool.

Wow, the hero spin U-special feels terrible in every way. It be one thing if just the vertical height was gutted, but all drift and air control values are also near nothing.

love the character but i wish quick selecting new skills was a bit better. maybe inputting the attack you want to swap should swap to it instead of using different strong directions?

The shield bash should block projectiles and deflect attacks from the front.

It's not that I don't think the weapons don't have distinct uses, I wish that they felt even more distinct to further differentiate them. It's still fun/fine the way it is now, but it could be better.

Unfeasible, but, I'd play the rest of the RPG maker cast with their kits based around these strongs, but that's a lot of sprite work. for example the mage girl using Harolds staff strongs and the rest of her keit being something else. That slide active frame change was great, thanks.

@jmeister I disagree with some of that, the various weapons do have a distinct uses and feel; I do agree with your bow critique though. The axe is basically the in between for the sword and Zwei, it's slower than than the sword but kills faster and has better arcing hitboxes. Worse than the zwei in power and range, but still faster and less recovery. I agree with your overall statement that you'd still only want either the sword or the zwei only, sword for fast conversions, zwei for KOs.

I really like the character but I wish the different weapons for smash attacks had more distinct strengths.
If the staff had more range but worse frame data, the bow had range proportional to how long you charged it but was weaker overall, the axe was faster than the Zweihander but still slower than the sword while also bit bigger;
Then there would be true benefits to each weapon, and there would be a real reason to use one weapon over another.
Right now though, there's almost no reason not to keep the sword or wait for the Zweihander as rest are just a strict downgrade, especially in combos.

As an RPG Maker dev who uses MV, and RPG Maker being pretty hated from what I've seen, I was extremely surprised to see this as the first thing on my Workshop page

IS there a weighted percentage to what weapons you get with d-special? Axe is almost always what pops up while Zweihander is rare.

Another suggestion: Harold's blade beam n-special should have an additional hitbox on the blade instead of just the projectile so hitting with it from up close does more dmg.

His SFX and and win theme being from RPG maker as well is cool. It's still a bit unsettling when the win screen comes up since I'm only familiar with all the RPG maker SFX through H-games, heh. I don't recognize the exp sfx though.

He feels great overall, the sprite art and animation are also top tier; he is very much a basic and balanced swordy as far as all his normals go, the only critique on that end I would give is that his down tilt should have more active frames on the slide, as of right now the hitbox is only active at the start of the attack, you'd expect it to work like most slides to where it functions as a travelling hitbox (you move your hurtbox forward a good distance while not actually covering it with an active hitbox). As for the specials I think the ice n-special could use buff as far as rewarding you off of landing the airborne attack too (it is trickier to and after all); just make it have the same effect as when it lands on the ground.

I love how you can select your moveset based on exp its very cool, though just using default stuff with fire ball makes him goated so there just needs to be more options. I ended up preferring fireball, shield bash, base up spec, and sword weapon because theyre just fantastic

An amazing character that does justice to the JRPG protagonist trope, from the animations, moves and mechanics. I would make him a bit weaker overall though, since he has such a large number of options to choose from. Great job!
