I'm planning to adapt it to the new modding framework but no ETA yet. My intention would be to have this done within weeks or faster. Again, no ETA.

I've managed to get around the duplicate problem by deleting the reactions from:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\data\installed_mods\creationforge (502000)\objects\reaction_custom_creationforge.txt"

Edit for your own file path.

Other reactions to delete can be found in the error log

Found an issue where free adamantine, free leather armor, and free dragon scale flask are duplicated. This prevents the mod from loading properly even when placed in the current load order

Tried loading this solo and at end of load order, only 1 other mod, and getting a duplicate entry free adamantite(?) 100 error. This is terminating world gen so I can't even load it.

can confirm that it still works.

BUT you have to 1. generate a new world and 2. put the forge at the absolute bottom of your mod load order.

Mod does still work (as of 51.01-beta27, Dec 2024) as long as you put it last in your load order.

At least, it does for me.

If you can't find it, make sure you "activated" the mod when you Created the world.
Must be a new world.

I just spent close to half a day trying to make this mod work with some modded races I also added.

I tried following the Compatibility guide to the letter, but it never worked - I thought the ENTITY:NAME were wrong but I checked them 10 times each.

So the solution?

The folders in the guide are dead wrong.

No, the path isn't C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\mods\2898393468 (version number of the mod)

The ACTUAL path is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\installed_mods\creationforge (502000)\objects

The moment I edited the entity_patch_creationforge.txt there, it showed up under Workshops for my custom races after I generated a new world.

I'm a new player so I have no idea if DF changed the paths for mods or what happened, but the guide is outdated and wrong.

For some reason this mod breaks my game. I figure it doesnt appear sometimes because it doesnt support any custom race, however with Creation Forge on, autosaves crash and abandoning (not retiring) a fortress makes the world unusable. Unfortunate!

Never mind, lmao. I'm just super tired and misread a bit of it. I just need to put in some work and make the particular race I want to play as have both the workshop and the minecarts.

Thanks for this mod. It makes casual colony building fun and easy. Like, just experimenting with new designs for visual aesthetics rather than function.

Does it then work for All Races Controllable by MC? I didn't see it on the list of compatible ones but I assume it works the same way. The only problem is that the races from that mod make other shit unavailable like minecarts. But that's more an issue on their part.

Is there any way for this mod to be used in conjunction with other playable races? It's kind of sad not being able to use this mod with the one that lets you play as any other civ on the generated map. Don't know if there's an easy way to manually make it available to all civs.

I have a lot of extra stuff I dont need anymore becuase of this mod. Is there a kind of incinerator mod that lets me get rid of items I dont want/need anymore or could something be added that is the opposite that has input but no output to get rid of it?

Unsubscribed from the mod, uninstalled it or changed something. As always check if the mod shows up in the folder data\installed_mods\creationforge (50xxxx) . Subfolder objects must contain four files. Try to re-subscribe.

Hey can we change the material used to make items through editing? Like if I wanted to use dragon steel from the Aeramore mod instead of adamantine, can I simply replace it in the file listed above?

You don't anymore as it was only a temporary, crude and now deprecated approach to something DFHack solves much better, more elegant and expansive than a mod ever could. Specifically the command armoks-blessing [docs.dfhack.org] is what you are looking for.

Check your loadorder during world creation. Mod should be at the bottom, last position. If it doesn't show up, means it is overwritten by something else.
As always check if the mod shows up in the folder data\installed_mods\creationforge (50xxxx)

You need to set a dwarf as woodcutter in the labor menu (hotkey y) as wood reaction requires a woodcutter (green check mark besides the dwarf). Same applies for other reactions / jobs.

Similar to another user i'm using the forge as a material deposit. I'm trying to create wood, e.g. feather wood. However, orders that are being put in the forge to create that are not being executed by dwarfs. They just sit there - even if i raise priority with the exclamation mark. Same for manual orders or automatically created ones by managers. Those orders remain on top of the list, also blocking the forge. As soon as i cancel the order for wood creation, all other orders in the row will get executed by dwarfs. What am i doing wrong?

I'm not sure why it wouldn't or shouldn't work but as a workaround you can also directly create marble furniture using the available reactions.
