Make sure you check out the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon sprite packs of Spriter's resource, I believe many of those would look better than mainline sprites, because it looks like they're walking, and they're a more appropriate size. https://www.pinterest.it/pin/297941331595464898/

Hello anyone who is still hanging around here. With the addition of the Arena I will hopefully have more ability and motivation to continue working on this graphics pack. Been taking into account the comments here / wants of the dev, and hopefully there'll be some new graphics content soon, like vermin and the like :)

man, with all the mystery dungeon pixel graphics that fit this game's size and art style, I totally didn't expect to see this, lool.

Alright I 100% think the sprites would be better than the "face" type art implemented now(and kind of work into gameplay of them a bit, putting this on both the graphics & main Dwarvemon so you both see this).

1) Bigger pokemon? Bigger sprite. Like how vanilla creatures are. This is doable! My Charizard and larger pokemon shouldn't be same sized.
2) DF Premium art is sprite-based. Only makes sense.

That's really all there is to explain.

I agree with the other comments that a sprite style would look best in DF! The DF art is very sprite based after all ^^ using pokemon sprite art would really work well I think.

But yes. The mod creator is watching this comment section afaik, so if anyone here or in the future has preference for art styles, you can bring it up here or to the mod creator. At the moment I am working on what they want specifically.

At the moment, I'll say that I am working with the Dwarvemon mod creator to make a graphics pack that will be integrated into the mod directly, as they also have a personal preference that differs from my own. This mod existing was more to alleviate the initial lack of graphics on release, because I do really enjoy this mod and want others to as well.

In future, the graphics pack native to the mod will be solely box sprites from whichever game is appropriate. Hopefully I'll get to work on it proper past the New Year. Thank you for the comments!

@Lord WoffingShire I agree on the sprites thing. The old tile pack on the forums had sprites too if I remember right so would still fit. Not to mention the pokemon shuffle look is even more out of place then sprites would be, just looks off compared to when I used the tile set addition in the past long before steam dorf was a thing

Since a lot of the art is from pokemon shuffle, but then a lot of the new mons don't have shuffle art and you're using sprites instead, would you consider moving entirely to the game sprites, or the Pokemon Home sprites for artistic consistency?

@Zetsumi Yeah, it's a good idea as I was thinking the same thing in general play. I will add a placeholder today, so that I can do something in bulk once all the base Mon sprites are in :steamthumbsup:

If you planned on continuing work on this, can I suggest adding a 'dead' sprite for each of them?
Either just the sprite turned 90 degrees or with an X over it would be fine. Or desaturate it to grey or something. Just some way to tell at a glance if it's a living pokemon or a corpse you're looking at.

Yes, after contacting the mod author it seems so. He seems to know what the problem is and is working on it.
