@Apriori Yes it does

Thanks! I was so utterly disappointed to have found a spicy divine maul in the caverns right after getting a legendary hammerdwarf. only to realize that, despite being strong, they could not use it.
Apriori 28 Jan, 2024 @ 11:16pm
does this mod fix the bug where dwarf can't hold foreign weapon? i.e. twohanded sword
Silveraxx 20 Jan, 2024 @ 7:05pm
In my game I just found a nice two handed sword. Is there a way to apply the mod to a already created world?
Right Hand of the Devil 25 Dec, 2023 @ 5:48pm
@фид по харде, the ability to make High Boots is not guaranteed. this mod has no effect on it. some civs may have it while others dont in the same world gen. start another fort in a different civ
Right Hand of the Devil 25 Dec, 2023 @ 5:43pm
for people who would prefer the Flail the old way,
1, open mods folder.
2, open file ending in 9954,
3, open Objects,
4, open item_weapon_changes,
5, delete the flail bit (its at the bottom) then save it.

roll a new world
????
profit!

Hello ! What is the difference between this mod and dwarven weapon full access ?
El Mexicano Volador  [author] 7 May, 2023 @ 2:43am
UPDATE: Talked to Putnam.

There is no issue. Deliberately wielding two handed weapons with a shield gives them huge stat disadvantages.

To avoid this, have your two handed dwarves not have shields in their uniforms.

This goes for any mod that allows pikes, halberds etc. to be wielded.

UPDATE: The current edit of this mod makes the dwarves only able to wield two handed weapons in one hand if they are 260% bigger than their standard body size. The fact that all dwarves are able to equip them with only one hand seems to be a problem with how dwarf fortress fortress mode is hard coded.

IMPORTANT NOTE: though you will be able to wield these large weapons with only one hand, they have been tested in Arena Mode by other players to be much more effective wielded in their "multi-grasp" state. So consider making your military uniforms without shields - with the odd dwarf picking up a shield during combat in a martial trance because they are bad ass.

I am not sure how to fix this. Maybe Tarn or Putnam might fix this in future and this mod will become obsolete.

I don't think flails should be two handed, and I know there's a "Lite" Version of this mod but in that version you also can't craft the weapons. You can definitely wield a small flail and a shield irl. Also, Shields with two handed weapons are an issue. Gonna try to make sure my dwarves aren't wielding two handers with them but it seems to be possible.
hidden pool 4 Feb, 2023 @ 6:12am
Cant craft high boots with this mod :steamfacepalm:
Skir 29 Jan, 2023 @ 1:15am
I can't seem to craft anything new except for Bow&Arrows, and Flails. I can't seem to build Great Axes, Mauls, 2H or 1H swords, Pikes, or Halberds.
Moonwarden64 20 Jan, 2023 @ 9:57am
forgot to mention, the mod has worked fine for me before and this happens when I embark with the weapons and shields
Moonwarden64 20 Jan, 2023 @ 9:14am
so...
Almost all my dwarves seem to be able to wield the weapons with shields, even with only this mod installed, and those who can't also don't meet the minimum size to wield them at all.
Any idea what's happening?
Super Space Kid (ft. NORO) 4 Jan, 2023 @ 10:24pm
now I have to regenerate my world to use this mod TTuTT
Super Space Kid (ft. NORO) 4 Jan, 2023 @ 10:23pm
it must have been a version thing. it seems to be working, whoopsie!
Super Space Kid (ft. NORO) 4 Jan, 2023 @ 10:09pm
sure man i'll re-install and see if it was a version conflict. if it still bugs, ill post my load order
El Mexicano Volador  [author] 4 Jan, 2023 @ 8:00pm
Also if you have downloaded and installed some ancient version of this mod, try unsubscribing and resubscribing. The only valid build of this mod is 1.13 and 1.14
El Mexicano Volador  [author] 4 Jan, 2023 @ 7:59pm
What other mods are you running? Maybe there is a conflict? I have never gotten this behaviour.
Super Space Kid (ft. NORO) 4 Jan, 2023 @ 1:07pm
there isn't much documentation available, but wiki says pickaxes -sometimes- use two hands

im not lying when i say removing this mod from my load order solved my problem

have you tried starting new worlds and have your new dwarves just start mining, no problem? try making sure none of them have any mining level when you embark, see if they still mine for us?
El Mexicano Volador  [author] 4 Jan, 2023 @ 3:37am
There is literally nothing in this mod that would cause that behaviour.

This mod contains TWO files:

- one that changes the size requirement of two handed weapons

- and one that adds them to your civs buildable list of weapons

The issue with battle axes and picks has nothing to do with this mod.
Super Space Kid (ft. NORO) 2 Jan, 2023 @ 10:45pm
im having the exact sameproblem as Nocktowl, after recently installing this mod. THIS mod is definitely the culprit! if you were looking for the reason your dwarves are on strike, it is this mod
El Mexicano Volador  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 3:07am
Well it seems dwarves, especially strong military ones in vanilla get big enough to wield these weapons one handed. It is why you often see foreign dwarves and humans wield these things one handed.

All this mod does is lowers the MINIMUM MULTIGRASP size. So everything you observe is vanilla behaviour.

But I will go ahead and further increase the MINIMUM ONE HAND size, just so this happens less.
Taoist Ascendant 31 Dec, 2022 @ 7:52am
+1 to the Dwarfs using 2H Weapon with shields in my game. I dont think this is intended.
LordFengo 29 Dec, 2022 @ 3:22pm
Has anyone experianced all their dwarves using 2h weapons with shields? i feel like that makes them a little too OP, wondering if its a bug, load order, or intended.
Nocktowl 29 Dec, 2022 @ 8:54am
No, a mil squad has not been made...hm, well I'll go dig around on the forums some more.
A Nickel 28 Dec, 2022 @ 3:20pm
Looking at the files for this mod, it doesn't change any interactions with that. Did you draft those dwarves into the military? If so, they will be unable to function as miners or woodcutters.
Nocktowl 28 Dec, 2022 @ 3:12pm
I feel like I have encountered a bug.
I have started a new world without the mod enabled, and my Dwarfs now refuse to equip normal battle axes and picks, making them unable to mine or chop wood.
I'm unsure if this is a vanilla bug or not, but I have not seen reports of it on the forums, so I have to assume it's likely caused by a mod, this one being the only one that makes changes to weapons.
LordFengo 28 Dec, 2022 @ 2:30pm
Whats the reasoning behind being able to equip 2h weapons and shields at the same time?
oatmeal 19 Dec, 2022 @ 7:11pm
based
El Mexicano Volador  [author] 16 Dec, 2022 @ 10:38pm
UPDATE: I accidentally messed up my entity changes. NOW you should be able to craft flails and mauls. Woops.
Tonus 16 Dec, 2022 @ 5:45am
@Archaist Well, the BODY_APPEARANCE_MODIFIER is changing the size of the dwarves. The temerature, weights and imacts should work well. And this wield mechanic works in adventure mode. I guess Toady One just forget to include new checks in fortress mode.
Archaist 16 Dec, 2022 @ 4:22am
@Tonus thanks for the heads up I’ve been trying to figure out a way to measure the volume of my dwarves, but didn’t particularly have much luck with that so it’s good to hear I don’t need to worry about it.
WulfesHeafod 16 Dec, 2022 @ 3:21am
Hmm, any reason we might know for Mauls not showing up in the build list?
Arashi500 16 Dec, 2022 @ 3:03am
Any intention of adding or making another mod for the vanilla foreign one-handed weapons like long swords and whips?
Tonus 16 Dec, 2022 @ 2:51am
@Archaist This mod changes the required creature size for 2h weapons. The bug is, that the game does not check individual sizes and only considers the default race size. So for the game, when it checks 1h or 2h wielding (or inability to wield), every dwarf is the same size. This mod makes 2h weapons available for any dwarf.
Archaist 15 Dec, 2022 @ 7:00am
@Hero I'd say this seems fairly balanced as dwarves using 2h weapons is intended but has been bugged for a long time now. In addition to that you also need to take into consideration that even with this mod only 28.5% of dwarves will actually be big enough to use a 2h weapon in the first place with only 6.1% of dwarves being big enough to use a 2h weapon in one hand meaning in almost every use case your losing out on a shield to equip these weapons, if you even can at all. As for how well they'd fair in combat ... I don't really know, the wiki only really explains the effectiveness of normal dwarf weapons and I'm not capable of making heads or tails of the weapon damage formulae, but they do seem like they'd be very strong. Gonzo 14 Dec, 2022 @ 10:17pm
how balanced is this?
No Guts No Glory 12 Dec, 2022 @ 11:17am
Any chance this being compatible with the mod that allows crafting of all foreign weapons?
El Mexicano Volador  [author] 12 Dec, 2022 @ 4:47am
@Tinasbuddy well considering goblin lashers still wield lightsabers, it shouldn't be too much of a balance issue.
Evil-Fox 11 Dec, 2022 @ 10:13pm
great mod. always wanted to use two handed weapons as a dwarf
Tinasbuddy 11 Dec, 2022 @ 3:10pm
i guess this would probably affect balance
El Mexicano Volador  [author] 11 Dec, 2022 @ 4:17am
@Musabi it adds the large weapons to dwarf civilsations so yes, I guess?
El Mexicano Volador  [author] 11 Dec, 2022 @ 2:04am
Update: Removed spaghetti. Now this mod should be compatible with most civ/weapon mods if loaded last.
Haji 11 Dec, 2022 @ 12:42am
Does this affect world gen?
TSEI (Empty) 10 Dec, 2022 @ 8:41am
Any chance you can make a version where the flail is one-handed?
Sadiwan 10 Dec, 2022 @ 8:32am
Tarn is to busy trying to add milkable gorillas
A Nickel 9 Dec, 2022 @ 1:03pm
Dude we get the Steam port and Toady didn't fix this....?
