I also tested the anti-grav engine and it works fine with crew management turned on as well.

upon further testing, this mod does seem to work, it was ancient antigrav engines that crash when being constructed. I commented on the wrong mod of yours

The mod does not need to be updated since it is not crashing with crew management turned on. If it is crashing for you then post the first 20 or so lines of the error log.

Will this mod be updated to accommodate the late June update that added crew construction? As it stands, like many mods that add a part, it seems to crash the game when trying to use it now. One of the issues seems to be that several base-game assets were renamed, resulting in failed calls from mods.

Is it possible to disable the collision of the lasers with the turrets? I like the Idea that they are the better version of a mining Laser. But to effectively use them you need to have them in a row or scattered across the whole ship.

Updated today: Update game version 0.20.32. Now drains shields rather than destroying shield generator when hitting shields. Range increased from 290 to 310. Battery used decreased from 300 to 250.

Phazor destroys the shield generator when striking the shield arc. This is an issue in the mod Laser Beam Turrets as well. Doing damage to the shield generator itself is a cool mechanic, but it's destroyed in less than a second, making this mod unbalanced.

@Dahak - The impulse is a measly value of 2 (small bullet does 20). So the real issue is you have a mod that 'increases' the amount of scrapping damage it takes to mine an ore vein (scrap super armor), meaning more impact is delivered to the vein (armor) before it is finally mined (scrapped). And then ONLY on smaller pieces, because that is not enough impulse to move a larger object. Rather than make the mod usable in your specific instance and case with those specific mods, I will leave the weapon impulse as it is. I rather like seeing small pieces get shoved around a little bit. You can however modify it however you like on your personal computer.

Love it so far with only one complaint: the push on the beam is a bit strong. I have a mod that adds Tr armor and tough asteroids and the push means enemy ships and asteroids get pushed around too much. Sure in vanilla the beam vaporizes armor and rocks before they can get pushed too far, but when a Hard 3 asteroid node has 5 mil HP or Tr armor has 80K HP the force imparted is very significant.

Updated today to change the power usage from 4 down to 3. That is a 25% change.

@rojogames371 - I don't have any problem keeping 4 of them powered with one large reactor. But I can lower the requirement to 3 to see if that helps people out, that is why I asked for opinions.

@Uplink - Starting fires is really a 'minimal' addition because fires are only started in rooms that are 'hit' by the beam. Since the beam destroys the rooms there is usually not much fire.

@Vali - Because I like it spelled that way and I didn't want people complaining I spelled it 'wrong'.

@Good_Oatmeal - Yes, I will make a 'cheat' version of this weapon, probably this coming weekend. I will not be changing the damage to Ion damage. To me, lasers would cut a ship apart into pieces, not blow things up. And yes, I also like that I am not blowing up all that valuable scrap, I am deconstructing the enemy ship and collecting the scrap. So there are no explosions when you zap a reactor or ammo in cargo, or guns with ammo. It is more of a scrappers dream weapon.

@WillieSea I'm aware of the ranges and when not using your phazors I do like to use a range mod but not together. What I meant to convey is that increasing the range of the phazor may help to make it tactically viable against ships armed with Deck Cannons when the two ships are of equal relative strength/cost. Also given the ability to start fires a cheaky variant with the armor penetration of cannons would certainly satisfy my personal sadism but I'm not sure how that would work out outside of my sadism.

Only the Ion beam has a longer range of 300. (Not counting missiles which are 450 for HE and 600 for EMP) - Unless you have a mod that extends the vanilla game weapon ranges?

The Deck Gun has a range of 190. The Phazor has a range of 290. You should remain 'out of range' of the enemy while you pick them apart, or pinpoint destroy their bridge or reactors.

I think it may benefit from longer range due to the highly pin-pointed beam to give it a chance to compete against the slappyness of stuff like Deck Cannons.

@Uplink, @Felis Leo - Thanks! I had some fun making this gun. A bit tedious making all the textures. I think I enjoy this gun the most, since blowing up enemy ships always made me cringe at all the lost scrap. LOL
