I love the general idea, though I wish these critters were made as something available as additional critter options rather than complete replacements for common domestics. Still, I appreciate the work you spent on this.

Are your elven and human caravans/militaries ever using trogochs? If not, then they have their own domestics. I believe (but I won't say absolutely because it's been awhile) that that was fixed.
WalrusMan 19 Dec, 2023 @ 9:13pm
Wish this mod gave them specifically to dwarves instead of replacing all common domestics, or maybe just made them spawn as wild animals underground. Did you ever look into the solution the first comment here made to solve this?
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 5 Nov, 2023 @ 8:47am
Trogochs.
Flabort 3 Nov, 2023 @ 3:25pm
Which of these animals are grazers that NEED to be put into pastures? I need to reduce the number of critters in my pasture, both by butchering, and figuring out which ones don't need to be there.
CocoBat 30 Oct, 2023 @ 7:19pm
That's sorta what I figured, since they still appear with humans and such sometimes it seems, good to know.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 30 Oct, 2023 @ 4:39pm
@CocoBat the vanilla creatures are still in the game, but they are not domestic so the dwarves don't automatically have them. They can still get them from biomes near their civilization in worldgen.
CocoBat 28 Oct, 2023 @ 10:40pm
Just for clarity, do any of these replace any vanilla creatures at all? I was under the impression they don't, but when I load an embark save, the vanilla domestics are not available, or are they just not available to dwarves by default?
DaveJustDave 16 Oct, 2023 @ 3:49pm
Thanks, kind of you. I actually sussed it out and feel like a fool, it was a load order problem with the Language Overhaul mod I've recently started using. Mod conflict after all haha.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 16 Oct, 2023 @ 12:59pm
Good luck going forward. I wish i could help more.
DaveJustDave 15 Oct, 2023 @ 11:25pm
Ah I see. I do use a unique world gen setting I found online that could be messing around with it. Thanks for the response.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 15 Oct, 2023 @ 9:18am
@DaveJustDave I just tested 1.3b as the only mod and got Squirrels, Boars, and Moths on my first go. It's possible you got very unlucky on your world spawns. Were you spawning tiny worlds, or worlds with very long histories? I believe if the world has no biomes that contain an animal they become unavailable even if they're domestic - because they're extinct.
DaveJustDave 15 Oct, 2023 @ 2:27am
I think one of the latest updates broke this mod. Wooly Boars, Squirrels, and Ironsilk Moths aren't available anymore. I've spawned 5 different worlds and its generally the same. I don't believe I have a mod conflict.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 3 Aug, 2023 @ 6:54pm
when you shear leatherwing squirrels it should give you a raw skin that gets tanned at a tannery automatically the same as a butchered animal's would.
Moonwarden64 3 Aug, 2023 @ 3:32pm
Need some help figuring out the squirrel. Is there a way to tan leatherwing skin or is it already considered leather?
Ashmole 31 Jul, 2023 @ 2:45am
Thank you so much! Sorry for the delay in replying there was a big typhoon here and we lost power. Wonderful mod.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 22 Jul, 2023 @ 7:13pm
Alternatively, if you delete that file, the originals won't be cut and would all be available again.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 22 Jul, 2023 @ 7:12pm
@Ashmole creature_domestic_replacement.txt contains all the original common domestic animals. It cuts the originals and then replaces them with new ones that are slightly modified. Adding [COMMON_DOMESTIC] back to them (anywhere basically) should make them available again.
Ashmole 19 Jul, 2023 @ 7:43am
Absolutely love the mod - thank you for making it. I really like the extra flavor it adds. If I want to re-add some of the original domestic creatures (especially cats) then where do I do that? I back read older comments and saw you say that you should add [COMMON_DOMESTIC] to the files for the animal to re-add but I wasn't sure which file in the objects folder of the mod to apply that change to or where in the file to do so. Thank you and thanks for the mod.
leithykins 13 Jun, 2023 @ 5:37pm
I really enjoy the mod by the way! I just wish I knew what I was doing wrong
leithykins 13 Jun, 2023 @ 5:12pm
Idk. My farmers don't do anything with the eggs. I waited around and they all just keep hatching. I put a farmer's workshop next to them and have 8 females and 2 males. They lay eggs in the nest box which do not get gathered as I have no stockpile for eggs, and then they hatch after a while.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 13 Jun, 2023 @ 5:07pm
I don't think it matters if you collect the eggs or not for using them outside of hatching, but you can toggle eggs off from your stockpiles to prevent them being gathered.
leithykins 13 Jun, 2023 @ 5:00pm
should I not be using a nest box? The eggs are either getting collected or if I stop them from being collected, they just hatch.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 13 Jun, 2023 @ 4:44pm
@leithykins the moths lay eggs, the eggs are cleaned into a glob, the glob is spun into thread. both of these tasks are in the farmers workshop.
leithykins 13 Jun, 2023 @ 3:37pm
how do the moths work?? I've been looking at the farmer's workshop and tried everything (I think) and no silk. Please explain this to me as if I was five. How do I get the silk?
Zamaza 21 Apr, 2023 @ 9:38pm
Oh I see, thanks!
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 20 Apr, 2023 @ 5:12pm
Trogochs aren't wooly, they're hairy. Hair can't make cloth. That's intended because animals with multiple shearing tasks are cluttersome.
Zamaza 19 Apr, 2023 @ 9:29pm
I can't seem to make trogochs thread into cloth, it's not an option for some reason?
LetTheMossReclaimYou 3 Mar, 2023 @ 1:39am
As far as More Diverse Wildlife goes, that mod doesn't remove vanilla wildlife, it changes the frequencies, but seems to do so by copying the file, editing it, and having its own version that requires the vanilla creatures file to be removed.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 1 Mar, 2023 @ 12:47pm
No they dont
LetTheMossReclaimYou 1 Mar, 2023 @ 4:54am
Do lithoworms graze?
xxx_420_Bad_Boy [Wizard_Cum] 18 Jan, 2023 @ 10:25pm
A trogochs just took down a cyclops mostly on its own totally unscathed (a miner arrived and helped put the cyclops down, but only after the Trogochs had dammed its legs into pulp).

A++
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 16 Jan, 2023 @ 7:59pm
@DEADL3AD I don't want to create a separate branch for that, if you're loading that mod you're probably removing vanilla creatures, which is listed as a prerequisite for this mod. If you go into this mod's info.txt and remove [REQUIRES_ID:vanilla_creatures] it should work so long as you load diverse wildlife before this.
DEADLEAD 8 Jan, 2023 @ 11:32pm
can you make this compatible with more diverse wildlife mod
=SPQR= Donkey Hote 1 Jan, 2023 @ 6:10pm
Did some digging on my own, and the vanilla wool producers all have a [TL_RELATIVE_THICKNESS:10] entry under their [SELECT_TISSUE:HAIR] heading which when added to the same place in the Boulder Boars raws has it produce multiple units of wool per shear.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 1:45pm
@Donkey Hote if it's getting spun into thread at the farmer's it's working as intended, but I noticed I was having some trouble with it and might have to diddle with the layer length.
=SPQR= Donkey Hote 1 Jan, 2023 @ 12:32pm
I just wanted to check whether the Wooly Boulder Boars only producing one wool on shearing was intended functionality? As they seem intended to be the wool cloth industry replacement for sheep and alpacas who produce 7 per shear and llamas who produce 15 per shear.
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 31 Dec, 2022 @ 3:23pm
No worries, have fun Stogie.
Stogie 31 Dec, 2022 @ 3:21pm
AHA! Found the problem! No idea how, but my version of the mod was broken. Couldn't find the gaits of a load of animals for some reason, even when it was the only mod loaded.

Re-downloaded a fresh version, and things are back to running smoothly! Dwarf Ranch, here I come!

(Sorry for hogging the comments like that.)
Stogie 31 Dec, 2022 @ 2:09pm
(Also, it could be nice to include those instructions in the mod's in-game description, to help newbies like myself.)
Stogie 31 Dec, 2022 @ 2:07pm
Gotcha! I'll see if I can make that work... really REALLY want to try spinning me some metallic silks!
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 30 Dec, 2022 @ 6:36pm
The mod replaces a number of standard vanilla creatures, to make them not common domestic, so you should load any mods that apply graphics to vanilla creatures after this, and mods that edit vanilla creatures before (although if they edit domestic vanilla creatures it will cause conflicts)
Stogie 30 Dec, 2022 @ 5:25pm
Ah, it's much worse then that, actually. If you want to use this mod in its current state, you more-or-less have to run it and only it. Even trying to add stuff like other civilisations is enough to break it.
Stogie 30 Dec, 2022 @ 4:55pm
Not quite sure why, but it seems that if it's paired with any mod that impacts the game's graphics, it will pack animals to lose their sprites, and remove the squirrel and moth from the world.
Stogie 29 Dec, 2022 @ 11:26pm
Tested more, and it seems the main problem is that this mod wigs out quite easily when interacting with other mods. Makes it very finicky to use...
Stogie 29 Dec, 2022 @ 8:52pm
Got it working! Just had to unsubscribe and resubscribe to make the new version show up.
Stogie 29 Dec, 2022 @ 8:47pm
Just tested it, and still no moths or squirrels. Checking to make sure I'm using the right version...
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 29 Dec, 2022 @ 2:34pm
The new update should have new worlds properly get all the creatures available to the proper entities. Unfortunately I do not believe this is backwards compatible with old worlds as entities getting domestics is a worldgen thing?
UnapologeticPunster  [author] 29 Dec, 2022 @ 2:30pm
I think I found the issue with creatures being entity available, working on a fix rq.
=SPQR= Donkey Hote 29 Dec, 2022 @ 2:07pm
I am having the same issue of the moths, boars, or squirrels not showing up in embark.
