This might be outdated, but as far as I know steam, without much reasoning, took the mod down and therefore they moved to git. All updates to the main mod are available on git and for the near future this is supposed to continue to be that way.
I am not part of the developer team though and might have missed some informations.

@GemTopaz No idea, it is possible the mod may be undergoing a massive update and the creator wanted to avoid people bugging them. That is pure speculation though.
GemTopaz 10 Nov, 2024 @ 6:18pm
Do you know why it was taken down?

AS of right now, the Victorium Universalis mod is taken off of the workshop. Consequently, this mod will remain broken until the VU mod is updated and uploaded. Currently, I am working on updating the vanilla version of this mod for anyone interested:

I can't seem to launch the mod I have subscribed to the mod through steam, enabled it in the playset i want to play the mod with. But the game launched and its the vanilla map. I've tried setting the game version to 1.35.3, it still didn't work. Is there a prerequisite mod i need to install and launch with it?

I have returned, and I have updated this mod to 1.35.3. Keep an eye out for bugs, and post them here so I can fix them.

Actually it seems like everything works in Vanilla, the only bug I'm seeing is that there is no icon for the Catholic faith and it's instead replaced with a big red X

Do you think you can make a Version of Vanilla?
General Justinian  [author] 28 Dec, 2022 @ 7:25am
Hi everyone, relatively small update, but added a new decision called "The Roman Question" see the change notes for more info, and let me know what you think! :)
Bloodborn 27 Dec, 2022 @ 4:34pm
@Πρίγκιπας_Ουμάρο Helleno-Turkism isn't a new idea, Mehmed II (Literally leading the Ottomans at start) was a Romaphile, he pushed really hard for integration of byzantine nobility with turkish nobility, and even adopted the title of Caesar of Rome arguing he was the continuation of Rome. He was a devout Muslim but perhaps one of his sons can take a liking to Rome similar to him and a certain greek Philosopher (Plethon) can be assigned to his education leading to a Hellenic Turkey.

If you don't mind, I'd like to offer you a couple of ideas about the mod: For example, adding events to restore the Hellenic religion for Byzantium, or as an option in the form of a difficult but interesting series of decisions for the Ottoman Empire. It would be cool to play hellenic turkey with the subsequent unification of cultures (although it sounds surreal)
General Justinian  [author] 25 Dec, 2022 @ 10:48am
@Πρίγκιπας_Ουμάρο Thank you! In regards to the "original game" part, the mod should work with vanilla, excluding some icon issues. Other than that, there shouldn't be any conflicts. Currently, I am hesitant to make a separate version for vanilla, or restrict what I can do with the mod. If there is more desire for a Vanilla version, I may be convinced other-wise.

For the Germanic religion, I am honestly not very familiar with that religion. I mainly made this mod as a borderline Roman flavor mod. I could look into the religion, but currently adding more to the Roman side is my main priority.
Shift 24 Dec, 2022 @ 10:05pm
and for example add also the ancient Germanic religion
Shift 24 Dec, 2022 @ 10:05pm
good job, can you make this mod for the original game?
General Justinian  [author] 24 Dec, 2022 @ 9:22am
Just made a big update to the mod in regards to Great Projects. Both are created from events, so a new game shouldn't be required to get them. Check the change notes for more information

@hollow.daydreamer it is not an event that fires, it is a decision called "Revive the Old Hellenic Faith."

To have the potential for this decision: not the papacy, own Rome or Athens, and be Latin, Old Latin, or Byzantine.

To be able to select the decision: not at war, not a subject, and your issue, not Defender of the Faith. I forgot to mention the Defender of the Faith part in the description, and I will add it.
lethargic.daydreamer 24 Dec, 2022 @ 7:25am
What conditions of this event beside owning Rome or Athens? Can i be defender of the orthodox faith and still get it? I own Athens almost 10 years and event still not fire.
General Justinian  [author] 23 Dec, 2022 @ 7:32pm
@Bloodborn Very interesting. I've been doing development, but I haven't started writing the build-up events yet. I'll look into it, thanks!
Bloodborn 23 Dec, 2022 @ 2:35pm
I'm going to go ahead and try this out, but off the top of my head there was a Greek Philosopher Plethon whom taught his neoplatonic philosophy and vouched for the restoration of the old gods in both Italy and Byzantium. You can also track the philosophers that passed his tradition on down to a current (and recognized) sect of Religio Romana that exists to create and restore the old religion today. There should be some events involving either him or one of his disciples given he was alive and kicking at the start of the game. He's worth a look up at least.
