Ok thanks Zoli
Zoli 5 Sep, 2024 @ 4:19pm
No idea what a Japanese RPG is like, but I give it a go soon. 80 hrs gameplay from a mod is insane. Thanks for the answer.
d36williams  [author] 5 Sep, 2024 @ 1:56pm
Hi Zoli, it has a JRPG feel, theres as many out door areas as below ground, and 3 towns. 80hrs to complete my lets play
Zoli 5 Sep, 2024 @ 9:52am
It sounds like a dungeon crawl. Is it?
Difficulty?

There was a bug (fixed in the most recent version I pushed a couple days ago) where the door to abora doesn't open until you go there via strange cave. Also, that quest might not fire right if you kill the main object of that quest before updating to a more recent verion of the Campaign. That said that quest won't break other on going things and its optional. I do recommend updating though to prevent a bug that sometimes stopped the second act from starting.
eRe4s3r 27 Aug, 2024 @ 3:17pm
So I am stuck again, or maybe I am confused again? I solved all of Veas tasks and only other major quests missing is the hostages and some giants I in the hills, so I got yeeted by that Rin person to go "sanctify Aborea" and I am hugely confused what that means. The in-game thing said that I can just go there from the town exit, but only option aside from the usual is friendly defender spring, and there ain't nothing there except Brok around a circle (and otherse, but nothing regarding any dryads). Uh, so what does that mean exactly? ;P
d36williams  [author] 24 Aug, 2024 @ 10:45pm
I realized a very important bug was preventing the 2nd act from firing and updated the campaign to fix that. I also added a fix for players who reached the bug and were stuck. I think this impacts charles_watkins, and any player who has played deep into the campaign. If you reach a point where you've done all the quests around HT and KMK and now have no leads, playing the older version of the campaign, there is a new closet in the Blue Bird House that is unlocked with a book, there is a button in there that fixes the bug for players in that situation. Most people can just update the latest version of the campaign.
d36williams  [author] 24 Aug, 2024 @ 9:17pm
glad to hear!
eRe4s3r 24 Aug, 2024 @ 2:59pm
So I restarted game, new playthrough, new party, reinstalled UB version from a few months back, reset all my settings and profiles and .... had zero problems up to the sewers - so I am sorry for blaming your module, this was just UB being buggy +.+ | I do have one point though, In the maze with the teleporters I eventually had to cheat by teleporting myself out because I could not for the life of me figure out how to get "out" of the maze after the beast lair fight. Anyhow I can now see that this module has a TON of love put into it, so many interactions, consequences from dialog choices, insight responses being handled how they are (that is such an awesome idea). Basically, I am glad I gave it a 2nd try proper because I enjoy it now ;)
eRe4s3r 23 Aug, 2024 @ 12:19pm
Cheat menu got me past it but this honestly was quite some baffling 8 hours so far. Don't think any module ever left me this confused before after a whole day playing it. I think I will give this another try next week, with new party and fresh mind. And using your guide ,P
d36williams  [author] 23 Aug, 2024 @ 8:14am
hi eRe4s3r, I've not had that happen at that level before (or ever before, I've not had instability issues, with or without UB mod). I'm really sorry that is happening to you. To get around the bug consider not arming the traps. I know this depends on how high level your characters are though. Given the bug you are experiencing, consider using the Cheat Menu under the Pause Menu options to make your party invulnerable to get through that fight without using the traps. After this campaign I've realized that Traps are buggy for a few people and in different ways and I've stopped using them like this :( sorry about the issue you're having
eRe4s3r 23 Aug, 2024 @ 7:18am
So I give up, got Syl in front of the goblin hut, go to her "camp" and the ambush stuff happens at level 3, 2 trolls, 40 zombies and when I win all traps remaining explode and the game "detects an instability" and deadlocks. Only mod is UB at tabletop settings only. This is the first time in all my module playing that I have this happen to me +.+ I am apparently not made for this campaign
charles_watkins 14 Aug, 2024 @ 1:37pm
Sorry to report that a week's rest at the Bluebird did not advance the story. I appreciate your help, but I'm going to wrap up here and won't impose further. Let me say you are quite innovative in designing the campaign and do an especially good job staging battles. I had a lot of fun and look forward to more.
d36williams  [author] 11 Aug, 2024 @ 11:27am
Would you consider sharing your save game? A player once shared one with me by copying their save game to Google Drive. I need to make sure there is no bug breaking. One more thing to try, Long Resting at Happy Town house a couple times. It's supposed to trigger the next phase of the campaign which is more linear over all. Sorry its seems stuck presently.
charles_watkins 10 Aug, 2024 @ 9:10am
I've rechecked Happy Town and Aborea, but no Rian. I went back and double checked the bandit camp and didn't find anything. I have already delivered the cypher to Elerian and all she says is she is working on a translation. So to move ahead, it seems I need to locate Rian or get Elerian to do the translation.
d36williams  [author] 6 Aug, 2024 @ 12:37pm
As for the Foothills, once you have a quest to return there should be bandits and probably some important item they drop. There may be an item dropped behind a tent, that happened to one player.
d36williams  [author] 6 Aug, 2024 @ 12:36pm
The dead end is supposed to be that translation, which is opened (ideally) when you get a Necro Kingdom Cipher from dead bandits in Foothills, and return that item to Elerain -- which it sounds like you did when as you also rescued the kidnapping victims.
Santify Aborea - Rian might be back in Aborea, accessible by a teleporter, or maybe back in Town if you finished that, near the entrance.
Of these quests, The Goblins and Spread Rabies are important for moving the plot forward. You may need to find Elerain at Annie's cottage, in the library. It's been a while for me I might need to open the campaign up and figure out if you're in an impasse.
charles_watkins 4 Aug, 2024 @ 7:53am
Hi again. What does it take to make the necros appear in the foothills? I had a battle there with a group of bandits, but there were no undead. I have already completed the Human Trafficking quest. Here's a rundown on the quests that are still open:

Obscene Holy Book: "There is much work to do" No idea what to do here.
Forge Ten Longswords: Passing on this, don't need the gold
How Did Goblins Get Here: "Deadend" need a break
Investigate Lost Chasm: need to find out how to gain access. Annie is researching.
Obtain Nobility: Can't find that book
Sanctify Arborea: "Talk to Rian" Can't find her. Could Rian be Elerian?
Who Spread Rabies?: "Speak to Elerian" Says she is working on translation
d36williams  [author] 3 Aug, 2024 @ 6:20pm
Charles I'm sorry I didn't see your post; whatever is happening in the foothills should be solved by finding a piece of loot dropped by said necros and then talking to Elerain in her campsite. After that quest she should move on to assigning you to retrieving Human Trafficking victims. If you haven't been able to progress can you post your list of ongoing quests and what steps they are in?
d36williams  [author] 3 Aug, 2024 @ 5:37pm
Ultimately nobility quest doesn't progress much until you've completed at least one major sailing trip
d36williams  [author] 3 Aug, 2024 @ 5:36pm
You will get the book from Elerian or if you can't figure out which one it's also for sale at the paper book store, "Nobility and Something Soemthing" just read that one.
Thrilled 2 Aug, 2024 @ 6:47am
A question.... the quest Obtain Nobility says I should read a book to progress the quest. However we cant find such book :(
charles_watkins 30 Jul, 2024 @ 12:24pm
When I talk to Elerain at Annie's, she says she is working on the necro cypher translation. Annie says she is also working on abyss map translation. I went to Arborea and defeated the Healers and was told to see Rian, but I can't find her. Still no necros in the foothills. On Goblin quest I am "waiting for a break." Nothing else I can see to do.
VanBurenPhilips 27 Jul, 2024 @ 12:07pm
That's great, thanks :D
d36williams  [author] 27 Jul, 2024 @ 11:03am
This campaign is really long, and getting to level 16 is like the end of first 1/2. The story works pretty well even if you're high level starting out. It's ok to start high level
VanBurenPhilips 27 Jul, 2024 @ 3:56am
Hey author o/ Got a party of 4 at lvl15, and I see this allows starting level up to 16 (thank you for that - it's the only one I've found so far).

Do you think this will be suitable for them (with difficulty settings upped as needed), or would you recommend I start this with lower level characters?
d36williams  [author] 25 Jul, 2024 @ 2:28pm
At that point you should find Elerain at Annie's Cottage, in her Library I think. If there are necros in the foothills, there is probably a book you need to pick up in the foothills. Then she'd give you a quest to go to a river area where you need to free 1 particular character and 3 parties of random NPCs.
charles_watkins 25 Jul, 2024 @ 9:27am
Thanks for the tip. The bag with the clue I needed was dropped behind a chest and I missed it. So I killed the Beast and cleared the sewer. I need translations for the Abyss Map and Unholy book.

I spoke to Elerain at Annie's but the Journal still says to go see her, in private. Maybe I need to find a way to get her alone? Do we suspect the cook?

I also revisited Elerain at the campsite and she is still telling me to kill necros in the foothills. There were some bandits there, but no necros.
d36williams  [author] 23 Jul, 2024 @ 12:55pm
You need to follow up on Who Spread Rabbies and the Goblins quest, Long Trail, to the West, which I forget, it might be a pun? There is a teleporter on Long Trail that opens after you start finding clues regarding the Goblins. Its near the Hunters Campsite. That quest opens up others. Of the plot moving quests, Who Spread Rabies I think is all you have right now.
charles_watkins 23 Jul, 2024 @ 10:04am
These are my open quests:

Obscene Holy Book -- no to-do here
Forge Ten Longswords -- need more Primed weapons (don't need more gold)
How Did Goblins Get Here -- waiting for a break
Investigate Lost Chasm -- need to find a clue
Lost Weapons of Spirit (Breastplate) -- have not come across it
Obtain Nobility -- was there a book?
Who Spread Rabies -- have not come across LTW

Doors I have not passed:

Lost Chasm
Astral Plane
Lakeland
Annie's Cabin
Golden Goose
Southeast Gate in Happy Town

As I said, this has been a really good module and I'm hoping to finish it, but I can use a little help.
charles_watkins 23 Jul, 2024 @ 10:04am
Thanks for the fast reply. Let me give you a better picture of where I am. I've met Elerian in town, at the secret campsite, and at Annie's cabin. I showed her the unholy book and she sent me back to the foothills, where I'd already offed the bandits. I've already done Kulmankao and the Matrix, returning with the book. I killed the Wight Lord and Feys, which left the town shut until I went back into the Golden Goose. Got a pep talk from the sponsors, but no assignment. I now have free access to the map.

I'm playing on Cataclysmic with an enhanced UB party of Monk, Warlock, and two Fighter/Sorcerers.

(TO BE CONTINUED)
d36williams  [author] 22 Jul, 2024 @ 9:08pm
Have you gone to Twisting Trail, met Elerain there, at the campsite? You'll need to start whittling away at Kulmankao too, which is usually around level 16. I'm a bit rusty, but if you're needing to see which way to go, let me know which quests are in what state, or we can share a save game.
charles_watkins 22 Jul, 2024 @ 12:52pm
First off, high praise for a superb module and thanks to Oltex for surfacing many of the problems I've run into. I'm now level 15 and just recovered the Sorak holy book, killed the Fey, and am waiting to be told what to do next. The sponsors in the Golden Goose didn't say. I have a few open side quests, but the only main quest is something vague about having this book.

So what do I do next? I'm just wandering around tying up loose ends. There are still some doors and portals I can't get through.
d36williams  [author] 10 Jun, 2024 @ 5:01pm
I learned about how annoying the teleporters can be in multiplayer, sorry about that...

The doors for long trail, should just require long resting while you are long trail. Its sort of a glitch/by product of how the system counts rests. So you should in Long Trail. Walk up to the door, go long rest at the camp on map 3 times, and the doors _should_ open. Let me know if that's not happening for you
Thrilled 10 Jun, 2024 @ 1:53pm
Beside this we love most of the campaign... The forest part is annoying due to the pathing. And maybe a tad to many teleporters preventing us from fast travel more freely
Thrilled 10 Jun, 2024 @ 1:52pm
How the heck do I enter the door in the long trail?we have waited sooo many days and still can't get inside. We have done all quests up to KMK and still not able to open it. We have the sewers left to do and turn in the weapons to the ghosts.
d36williams  [author] 26 Apr, 2024 @ 8:32pm
All of this was to say it was tuned to be for level 16 with 4 players but with UB and level 20 Cataclysm would be a worthy challenge. Some late game stuff might be crazy though -- but there is some crazy gear including a Wand of Lightening that makes Balls of Lightening.
d36williams  [author] 26 Apr, 2024 @ 8:31pm
There's a lot of content in this campaign in terms of giving speeches, giving performances, having scenes and locations, traveling -- but I wrote this before Palace of Ice so I didnt include the world map. There's probably 20 custom books, though, and NPCs that are reoccurring friendlies; this campaign would take a party well past level 20 in terms of story length. People report that a maze that is tragically early in the campaign is tough on multiplayer because of multiplayer problems with teleports, thats something I'm considering changing because its only recently I've played Multiplayer and learned about what that gameplay is like. There is loads of custom weapons that I used to simulate going past level 12 originally. Egad there is no way to beat this if you maxed out on level 12.
d36williams  [author] 26 Apr, 2024 @ 8:31pm
This campaign was my first, and before level 20 was available. I think Cataclysm, with the ruthlessness of the Enemies, could be unbeatable, but I'm trying myself with 6 man party.

The first 3rd of this campaign is basically open world and sometimes the combats are uneven in difficulty, with players mismatched to the challenge, with all areas being somewhere you can come back to when you are stronger.

After the first 3rd I realized the story was getting very big and I made it much more linear. When wrapping up the first 3rd of the story I realized that the party are already level 16 playing unmodded. From there the fights are very high level until the end, and I think could be very challenging without a highly tuned party on cataclysm.

I myself just recently started always playing cataclysm and have found some custom campaigns might have impossible scenarios. I think that is not the case here but that they can be very hard.
Thrilled 24 Apr, 2024 @ 7:35am
Another questions... we are pretty seasoned players and we will use the UB mod... to have a good challenge what difficulty should we run at?
Thrilled 24 Apr, 2024 @ 7:22am
That is awesome ;) Now you got me excited!
d36williams  [author] 23 Apr, 2024 @ 11:15pm
There is a lot of custom items, some stuff that is really unique!
Thrilled 22 Apr, 2024 @ 6:40pm
Question.... are there many customized items? Me and my fellow players are kind of bored with the normal solasta items so would be refreshing with new ones showing up :)
d36williams  [author] 18 Mar, 2024 @ 6:06pm
I've never played multiplayer and the types of problems people have with it are new to me. It really does lighten up on the windy forest trails. I'm considering doing more to get ride of the ones people mention so often, as there are so many early and it could be discouraging.
LaughingThunder 18 Mar, 2024 @ 5:22pm
At least a good campaign campaign, but it's bothersome to a multiplayer game with endless trees in circuitous paths, especially if you one of the players gets motion sickness easily. I might play it solo, but we've given up chasing each other through the forest.
Oltex 5 Mar, 2024 @ 10:14am
Great, will try your suggestions below.
d36williams  [author] 28 Feb, 2024 @ 1:19pm
I figured out the issue you were having, and found two bugs. I pushed fixes for those bugs to Steam, and set it up such that if someone was also stuck in a scenario like your party it could resolve. First get the updated version of the campaign, 1.1.0318, load your game starting from the Quick Save 3 you sent me. Journey to Bltalt River Delta, walk forward just past the big rock, and you hear a "pop" and a newspaper will appear in your hand. Wait about 30 seconds and the Human Trafficking Quest steps will begin to tick off. At last, read the newspaper when the quest reaches that point. Go back to Happy Town, Book Dealer, buy Nobility book and read it, go to home and sleep two days, then people appear in your foyer which closes out this part of the campaign and ships you away.
d36williams  [author] 28 Feb, 2024 @ 8:36am
To follow up -- I successfully loaded your save game! I'll poke around. I'll see if I can get it to start the next chapter and wrap up the quests I see still on going.
d36williams  [author] 27 Feb, 2024 @ 8:24pm
Regarding Aborea, I found a bug. I've updated the campaign on Steam and you should get it. With it you should be able to return top that hidden area of Aborea, and there should be Rian. Since you already killed the things, I dialog with her should guide that quest to an end.
d36williams  [author] 27 Feb, 2024 @ 7:22pm
The Dagger is in the Golden Goose. When you enter, past the party room there is a hallway. Pick the locks or use magic, and then walk that long hallway. At the end of the hallway turn left, first room on right pick lock, then pick locks to enter the next room. After 6 seconds a part of the wall will be Searchable and will have the dagger. If you're low level you should then flee the room and run to the hallway, close the door on the room.

Can we try transferring another save game? Perhaps I'll have better luck on a different one. It would be helpful to see a screen grab of your quest log
