Possibly useful note, although I've never uploaded to the workshop and so don't know how it works. Most mods have the main folder in installed_mods named "mod_name (11)" and in the "Dwarf Fortress/mods" folder "2918656118 (11)" where the number in parentheses is the version number without decimals (so 1.1 would be 11). Yours shows up in both places as "(1)" even after updating the latest version, which might be why it wasn't downloading before. I see the version number is updated in the info.txt, but if you have any other way of influencing the directory name that might fix this more generally. Or maybe it's just a workshop quirk.

Yep! It's rare during worldgen, particularly for alchemists because they never make towers, but if one arrives in your fortress you can get them to write one easily enough.
Thanks, that's the vibe I was going for! I've actually looked into making something similar with a deep one civilization. I'm sure you could change someone's features to be fishlike with a secret or similar effect, but making a creature's offspring different from itself is, as far as I can tell, impossible. I do like the idea though, maybe there's something I'm unaware of that could work.
I've no idea if this is feasible, but would it be possible to create a secret that simulates aspects of the Dunwich Horror? Basically they creates a powerful wizard/monster instead of becoming one:
1. Secret-researcher makes a pact with an eldritch god and gives birth to or summons a strange offspring.
2. This offspring appears to be the same species as the parent, but matures and grows extremely quickly. Looks and behaves 20 by the age of 6, and is freakishly tall/strong.
3. They have access to eldritch magics, and will seek to serve their freaky god's will. This involves visiting nearby towns for supplies to secretly summon even greater horrors into the world.
4. All animals dislike their presence and attack or flee on sight.
