Strange Secrets

Description
There have been many mods that add new secrets for the denizens of your worlds to discover aside from necromancy, but in this one I'm attempting to add a few that behave in drastically different ways, at least as far as the system will allow. If you want to stumble across the secrets in the course of play, read no further!

New Secrets:

The Secrets of the Sea and Stars - Anyone who learns this secret is invariably twisted and driven mad by the horrible truths they behold. They immediately lose the need to breathe, which is good as their lungs will soon begin to rot inside their chest. They also grow larger, stronger, and more focused in exchange for losing all ability to relate to any other creature. They gain the power to reanimate dead animals as warped and tortured monsters and conjure water inside a nearby victim's lungs. This secret can be taught by gods of nightmares, deformity, oceans, and stars.

The Secrets of Perfect Alchemy - This secret grants those who learn it the power to perfect their body through alchemy. They no longer tire, they do not need food, water, or sleep, (but dwarves still need beer!) and they are all but immune to toxin and disease. They gain the power to transmute flesh to steel or lead, heal even the direst wounds, and breathe blasts of flame and the perfect solvent, alkahest. This secret can be taught by gods of wisdom, minerals, scholarship, and wealth.

Blessing of Fate - Those who earn the favor of gods of fate or fortune may find themselves blessed with an endless font of luck. They never age or even weaken with time, and find their skills boosted five-fold thanks to the winds of fate always falling in their favor. As stated, this blessing is given by gods of fate and luck.

Form of an Angel/Titan/Demon - Rather than true secrets, those who devote themselves to a god may be granted the form of an angel, titan, or demon. This grants immortality and immense power, and by exploiting those who gained the blessing through faith, one may be able to take it for themselves.

Known Issues -
Transformations cannot take effect until the creature enters a map with you, meaning they don't really gain any power in world generation
Transformations rely on generated creatures and thus don't work in arena mode

Also check out my other mods!
Living Gods: Allows semimegabeasts to take over human civs by pretending to be gods.
Bit of Diversity: Gives a bunch of sapient creatures the ability to join civilizations.
Bit more Diversity: Builds on BoD by giving some of those creatures civilizations of their own.
Arcane Metals: Adds a number of magical metals with unique applications for you to mine, forge, and trade.

Aren't there negatives aspects for these secrets, to balance things out? Otherwise these seem a bit OP, no?...

My adventurer learned the secrets of perfect alchemy but does not have the ability to breath fire or alkahest, is this intended?

Actually, I meant to say I had to delete it from both "Dwarf Fortress/data/installed_mods" and "Dwarf Fortress/mods".

Possibly useful note, although I've never uploaded to the workshop and so don't know how it works. Most mods have the main folder in installed_mods named "mod_name (11)" and in the "Dwarf Fortress/mods" folder "2918656118 (11)" where the number in parentheses is the version number without decimals (so 1.1 would be 11). Yours shows up in both places as "(1)" even after updating the latest version, which might be why it wasn't downloading before. I see the version number is updated in the info.txt, but if you have any other way of influencing the directory name that might fix this more generally. Or maybe it's just a workshop quirk.

Yep, that did it. Thanks!

@acymetric Have you checked the installed mods folder? It's in the data folder in the game files, and sometimes you have to manually delete the current version of a mod from there to force it to update.

I love this mod (I use it along with Dwarf Arcana and Sif Muana's Secrets as the base for all my various magic interactions), but can't seem to get the new version to download, even after unsubscribing and resubscribing. Anyone know a way to get around that to see the latest changes?

If you raise drowned in adventure mode (only tested on giant grizzly so far) it seems to just beat the living hel l out of you.

What do the transformation secrets do in terms of mechanics? I took a look in the raws and wasn’t able to figure it out. The main thing I’m wondering is does the creatures size change? If it does I’ll wait until after to make the nicer armor.

Unsupported CE remove tag: LIKES_FIGHTING
Unrecognized CE_NECROSIS token: 0

Unsupported CE remove tag: LIKES_FIGHTING
Unrecognized CE_VOMIT_BLOOD token: BP

Where should I put this in the mod order?
