@Krab_Flab Ah thanks for the insight. Makes sense and may have been added in the meantime.
Okeanos 26 Jul @ 11:16am
How do you know it was like that, have you been in a U-Boat during WW2?
Krab_Flab 7 Jul @ 1:47pm
@FIVE-one That's intentional I'm pretty sure. In Das Boot (i'm sure in real life too) the crew had a chalkboard they would use to tally how many depth charges are dropped on them so they could know when the destroyer above them ran out of them
FIVE-one 25 Jun @ 1:17pm
Hi ! I've had some weird noise played while being depth charged. Looks like it plays a sound of someone spraying something or writting on a black board with chalk.

@Michael J. the mod doesn't change anything about the hydrophone, mod still works, i just need to update the manifest.
Michael J. Caboose 15 May @ 1:49pm
Hyrdrophone audio not right after most recent update. Not sure what happened. Also cannot leave hydrophone station, unsure what the cause is.
seal-sam 13 May @ 1:48am
Still use-able for latest update?
Daddelmatz 6 May @ 1:58pm
Ansonsten gute Mod, danke

@Mr.Woof, yes please
Mr.Woof 30 Apr @ 9:33am
@R3dShift
Thanks. Sounds great. If you need the files from SH3 I can send you a link
R3dShift  [author] 30 Apr @ 7:01am
@Mr.Woof, I'm pretty sure we can, i'll see what i can do. :steamthumbsup:
Mr.Woof 29 Apr @ 2:09pm
There was a great voice mod for SH3 that used sound files from "Das Boot" for many commands like "Schleichfahrt", "Langsame Fahrt voraus" etc. Would it be possible to adapt this to UBOAT?
tutwlan 23 Apr @ 12:42pm
is the mod updatet?Because my game is buggy with the mod (sorry i cant english XD)
R3dShift  [author] 21 Apr @ 10:03am
@DaveDangerous, yes i wrote i few posts already talking about audio issues and how the game is mishandling some of the sounds, didn't reached them or they're just not very interested in improving sounds further.
DaveDangerous 18 Apr @ 5:27am
@R3dShift I see, makes a lot more sense too me now why it is like it is. Still kinda bugged by it and hoping the devs might look into changing that sometime in the future. However, the mod seems too work entirely as expected then. Thank you for that answer. Really explained that well.
Vulcy 9 Apr @ 2:27pm
Thats ok! Thanks for the reply :)
R3dShift  [author] 9 Apr @ 12:47pm
@Vulcy, the game handles sounds in a very, very crude way, and adding such a feature from scratch is unfortunately way out of my unity modding expertise
R3dShift  [author] 9 Apr @ 12:42pm
@TheNorseWind and DaveDangerous, I tested the mod out and saw no issues with the diesel nor the electric engine. The mod doesn't change the vanilla diesel engine. It changes the exhaust sound of it. The vanilla engine is very good and doesn't need to be improved imo. The electric engine is vanilla as well, but the game uses a muffled version of the diesel exhaust sound for the propellers when underwater (does it with vanilla too). This is just how the game handles sounds.
DaveDangerous 8 Apr @ 5:55am
Old diesel engine sound plays at the same time as the new one, and as mentioned by @TheNorseWind electric and diesel sounds are the same. This can't be intended, right? Unfortunately this one annoyance was enough for me to not use the mod anymore. However, I really enjoy the mod otherwise. If this was able to be resolved, that would be golden.
TheNorseWind 5 Apr @ 6:18am
Diesel and electric engines sounds are exactly the same ones. Is this intended or maybe something's wrong?
Vulcy 2 Apr @ 4:45pm
Can you please improve the diesel engine sound start / stop. Its a massive pet peeve of mine how switching from Diesel To electric is an instant click on / off rather then a wind down / wind up.
Intelligent98™ 2 Apr @ 1:09am
@R3dShift the developer of the alarm mod died, could you implement his mod into yours or make the alarm mod relevant again for this version of the game
R3dShift  [author] 3 Feb @ 12:08pm
@Intelligent98™ , no, i think none does
Intelligent98™ 3 Feb @ 11:24am
does the mod affect getting achievements
R3dShift  [author] 31 Jan @ 1:14pm
@Falke, i'm glad you enjoy it and thanks for the offer :steamthumbsup: i could take a listen to see if i can work with it for sure, the one the mod uses is actually from a 14.5 Kord, not quite the 20mm
Falke 31 Jan @ 8:51am
This mod is damn fine and work well.

For the maker of this mod : I can provide you some sound of a real 20 mm flak if you're interested
R3dShift  [author] 30 Jan @ 9:52am
@SergeiOneShot, Thank you for the valuable feedbacks, i take note and will make some changes :steamthumbsup:
R3dShift  [author] 29 Jan @ 11:18am
@sergeiOneShot, Thank you for the comment. Yes the Storm is currently too loud and I will tone it down.
Torpedoes are in a pretty good spot. (unless your camera is pretty much inside the detonation)
The game is miss handling some sounds and toning them down isn't necessarely the best option for everyone, some people don't have any issues with the 88 being too loud, have you tried the audio fix mentionned in the known issues section ? The game uses wrong audio settings each time you launch the game.
Niinox 28 Jan @ 1:58pm
@Sergei - Go into your game volume, change it slightly once you're in game. I found that the volume kept resetting itself to max on fresh launches.
Mainstay 22 Jan @ 3:57am
This is amazing thnx alot man for making this mod!
Niinox 20 Jan @ 2:10pm
Presumably no issue with 2025.1?
R3dShift  [author] 14 Jan @ 11:28am
@FIVE-one, glad you enjoy it !
FIVE-one 12 Jan @ 3:34pm
Tryied the mod as I found vanilla sound fx, especialy guns, inappropriate. This mod corrects it.
A must-have. Great work !
R3dShift  [author] 25 Dec, 2024 @ 3:35am
@Teax, yes it would be nice if more modders would take interest in sfx so we could share our knowledge :steamhappy: have a good holiday too friend :steamthumbsup:
Teax 24 Dec, 2024 @ 4:58pm
That would be awesome just to know it is possible :) Sometimes the experience comes together with the task itself ;) But i got no idea how difficult it is, so take your time if you want to do it. If not, well for me its okay and maybe some other will do it then :) Would appreciate it tho.
Keep the good work up and im glad this mod is maintained :) Have a good day and happy holidays sir.
R3dShift  [author] 24 Dec, 2024 @ 4:41pm
@Teax,i'm glad you like the mod :steamhappy:, i simulated the speed of sound delay for the artillery because it was already in the game but it's the only one, i'm am planning to add new triggers for torpedoes and small explosions but i would need to add them from scratch and i'm not experienced enough to do it just yet.
Teax 24 Dec, 2024 @ 4:16am
Greetings, first of all, nice mod :)
Just a quick question, does this mod include the simulation of sound? Its destroying a little bit the immersion if i can hear the explosion at 2km away the same time it explodes :/
If not, is it something, someone could implement?
R3dShift  [author] 1 Dec, 2024 @ 11:01am
@Schmeisser1942, i'm glad you like the mod :steamhappy: This mod cannot cause such an issue because all it does is assets replacement without any data change.
Monster Fart 21 Nov, 2024 @ 6:00am
solid mod to begin with, looking forward to the new update and what youve got planned
R3dShift  [author] 16 Nov, 2024 @ 2:21pm
@Gaesegu, <3 i'm brewing a new update, stay tuned !
Gaesegu 15 Nov, 2024 @ 5:40pm
NICE
R3dShift  [author] 11 Oct, 2024 @ 7:55am
@Daveslow, thanks for the feedback, i didn't change anything on how the game itself is handling sounds, i just replace vanilla assets.
The game doesn't make the difference when underwater, sounds doesn't get muffled and i don't think i can add that feature to the game just yet.
I made the thunderstorms very loud on purpose because they are known to be much louder out on seas than on land because nothing is obstructing that sound wave, but maybe i made it a bit too loud, i take notes and will make changes in the future, thanks again !
Daveslow 9 Oct, 2024 @ 2:28am
Really nice sounds! The rain on the deck during a storm at sea is awesome :)

There are some issues I have noticed though, for example explosions don't sound muffled enough under water. I also noticed that thunder during storms is far too loud, it pretty much sounds like above water. I don't have real world experience of being in a WW2 sub during a thunder storm of course but from scuba diving I know how little one hears and this seems way too loud and clear sounding.
Apart from that amazing mod! Perhaps a little bass boosting and low pass filtering would make it perfect! If there's also a way to shut up the officers in port when restocking or selecting crew... ;p getting really tired of their 3 voice lines :D
Daisy Corleone 5 Oct, 2024 @ 3:56pm

@ Daisy Corleone, I'm glad you like the sounds, you mean the vanilla diesel engine ? You can get it by using Asset Ripper and exctracting " resources.asset " located in UBOAT\UBOAT_Data
Daisy Corleone 5 Oct, 2024 @ 8:31am

@Ryan
Same calibre, different ammunition type. Muzzle velocity flak - 840m/s, naval - 700m/s. Might as well say that an H&K 45 is no different than an FNX45 because they're the same calibre. Not to worry, I'm not going to argue over the sound of two different weapons. They both go bang, right?
Ryan 5 Sep, 2024 @ 11:42am
@KeybdFyler
so completely different that they use the same caliber and had similiar muzzle velocity
KeybdFlyer 5 Sep, 2024 @ 10:31am
@Ryan
The YouTube link you posted goes to a video of the 8.8cm Flak gun which is not what was mounted on U-Boats during WW2. The naval deck gun was the 8.8 cm SK C/35, a completely different weapon.
