@twopennydoodle hey just wanted to say that this mod rocks and ive had it in my modlist ever since it came out, just as some people have already said, roo's hairstyles work for 1.6. i was wondering what other mods that add hairstyles would be adapted although i can guess its a patreon-only choice. anyways keep up the great work because i cant imagine playing rimworld without this mod on my list lol, hope to see new updates soon!

@twopennydoodle, First of all, thank you so much for this mod — it makes my playthroughs incredibly fun, and the huge variety of facial expressions is just genius. I can’t imagine RimWorld without it now. And I’d like to echo the comments below — Roo’s hairstyles work great with 1.6, and I really miss them in PotR.

Just a small suggestion: maybe in the future there could be an option to manually select which hairstyle appears in the portrait for each character? That would allow us to pick the closest match when using unsupported hair mods — I spend a lot of time randomizing hairstyles just to find the right one :3 Of course, no pressure at all — just thinking out loud. And once again, thank you so much for all your work and the amazing art!

I decided I wanted to try adding some portraits as an add-on to your mod for personal use/fun. For Medieval Overhaul specifically. I was curious if you had a PSD or similar reference portrait that you use as a mannequein for building your mod?

I'm not that great of an artist, but I'm trying to keep it in line with your art style and process if possible. I made some rough sketches, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.

But I just would love to have a reference to build the items around, so that it matches in line with how you're doing it.

Any help/suggestions would be great.

@twopennydoodle Roo's HD Glasses Hairstyles mod works perfectly fine on 1.6, I've had no issues with it.
Is there a reason why you can't turn on the compatibility unless they update the version number?

@The_Lost_Cake and @Jack_Trades I've been religiously checking, but it looks like Roo hasn't updated their hairs to 1.6. I've been told they retired from modding, so if someone picks them up and updates them, please let me know, and I'll add them to PotR again (I hate to waste all those textures)

Update 7/23/25

-Odyssey vacsuits are in
- the bug where portraits didn't change as pawns experienced life and hair/clothing changes should be fixed (HUGE thank you to @Fenris for all of their testing as well as everyone who brought it to our attention) - also thank you, Bunbunbunnies!
- couldn't replicate the persistent Corvyia and Azaphrae textures across pawns despite doing extensive testing on our end with different possible configs with mods. We've re-enabled the mods in PotR. I know Erin was updating her mods, so maybe it got fixed along the way? Let me know if you are getting that bug, and then we'll talk more in the Bugs/Missing Assets thread to see what we can do/what's going on @The_Lost_Cake and @Dracula
- updated the old VE:Viking hairs to be included in VE:Hairs 1.5 and 1.6

Hey everyone! Mid-week update. This is terrible practice on my end, but we've pushed this update so that the non-updating portrait bug could be fixed before the weekend. Unfortunately, though, Bunbunbunnies and I will be out of town until Sunday, so if there are any bugs please report them, but know we're going to be a bit quiet for a couple of days (we'll get to fixing them as soon as we're back, though). This update includes some bug fixes as well as content additions (see comment above).

My tribal colony lives in a mountain and bugs keep attacking us, so as a symbol of our hatred for them, we wear the Spelopede Hoods on our heads.

It would be great if you'd add compatibility for the mod in the future, but it would also be okay if you didn't.

@Kaus and @Sacharia and @jackmls1995 and for everyone else who is noticing the "Portraits stop updating after a while" bug:
A big shout out and thank you to @Fenris for doing some rigorous testing to find out what's going on, but basically there is a bug right now with the 1.6 version where if you load a file for a colony that you have already played with that session, the portraits will stop updating. (To get a bit more detailed, each pawn's portraits will get stuck in whatever state they were before you did the load.)

So far this seems isolated to 1.6. I can reproduce it consistently and am working on a fix now. Hopefully it won't be anything too crazy of a change that was made to the way save/loading caches items. I'll try to get this and the Anthrosonae fix out in a patch in the upcoming days!

@jackmls1995 I also have something similar. Portraits update for a while after a restart or a fresh start of the game, then become static. Then they stop updating regardless of how the appearance changes. When I played in 1.4 I don't remember exactly that happening, but it seems like it wasn't there then.

Hey everyone! Hope you've had a good weekend. Looked over the bug on Anthrosonae/Erin's xenotypes with my programmer, and we've determined it's a bit beyond me and thoroughly in his court, so we'll have to wait a bit longer for that patch. Sorry about that! In the meantime, I'll be working on getting the updated textures with Odyssey in!

@tatara feel free to correct me, but I believe VE:Beards got absorbed into Vanilla eventually, correct? That's where they are now, at least in PotR! As for LTS xenotech, I've got a list on my public Patreon about the order of what's being drawn for the time being! Once that list is cleared, I'll do another poll, and you can add things like that in!

@Sacharia and @jackmls1995 okay, that's really good to know - you both aren't the first to note this, but we can't replicate it on our end. Can you share your mods and experiences in the Bugs/Missing Assets Here thread? That'll help us hone in on what's going on and hopefully fix it.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with portraits not updating? Things like clothing not changing, hair cuts not changing and people's entire portrait not changing when they turn into a mushroom man haha it's nothing game breaking but is making the mod seem a little pointless as the portraits don't really resemble the colonists well as I'm progressing. Also just wanna say I love the mod and appreciate the work you've put in

Fantastic Mod !

It makes my worlds and pawns feel so much more alive

I like to play with One with death, so my Necromancer is missing pieces all the time before he regens. I can watch the Portrait to see his parts come back ^_^

So the portraits have stopped updating? Injured people look injured after being healed, clothes aren't changing, etc. Any quick fix?

I hope in the future you can do portraits for the ratkin, moyos, and other such races. But hey, life is busy and modding can be slow. The new update is making me wait for many mods to update. Especially species mods.

Hey everyone! Yeah, so I think I'm onto what's happening with the Erin mods. Unfortunately, I'm super slammed this week, so it's not going to be until the weekend that I am able to actually go through and fix them, so I've just suspended those mods for now. That should "fix" the problem, and I'll work on getting my branch of her mods updated to not cause that issue this weekend!

I'll see about taking some screenshots, I doubt that it's from another mod update since it seems to consistently happen with every single pawn. All of my baseliners portraits had Corviya ears and haircuts from various modded races too.

@Fenris the Timeless one is definitely intentional, but I think I'm going to delete the black circles, as they didn't work like I hoped they would aesthetically. As for the others, that's a bit trickier. Can you post in the Bugs/Missing Assets Here thread and talk us through it (ideally with specific helmets and hediffs like the bionic eyes)? Thank you! Also, if there are any mods that affect things like bionics, that would be super helpful to know.

@Jet I don't know :c I hope they get updated, though!

@Dracula and @The_Lost_Cake oh, that's weird. Okay, can you guys post this in the bugs/missing textures thread and take a screenshot of one of the pawns where this is happening? I might be able to identify which mod is causing this. My guess is one of the other mods updated, and that's thrown things off, but I need to check. And just to confirm, you're both on 1.6, correct?

@Kyria let me do a test today of that. Thanks for letting me know! You might be able to use the "Use Baseliner head as default" option to fix it, but if it's the skin color rather than the head not just missing, that might not work. Thank you for the kind words!

@POEHAVSIY I just tested Lycans, but it seems to be working on my end. Can you say what is wrong in the bug fix thread? Thank you!

@Freebird that was an update I added a while ago because there was a bug with it overlapping on the gear a dead pawn might have. I talked with my programmer, and basically we decided that if someone asked about it down the line, we'd talk about a toggle option. I'll talk to him about it! Might be a bit to add in just because he's slammed, but I'll put it on our radar!

This was working okay-ish after 1.6 but now as of today characters have almost every possible ear/tail type from various xenotypes even if they're baseline.

Been having some weird problems that i didnt have pre 1.6. I have it selected to show helmet on draft but some of my people it works and others it doesn't. Some effects work on some but not others, like bionic eyes not showing up. I had an issue with a Timeless one having black circles over where the eyes should be but i never got a Timeless creepjoiner in 1.5 so idk if that was intended. I love this mod, so thank you for making it! Keep up the good work!

Guess next to Vanilla expanded and fernys stuff, yours is one of the essential mods I wouldn't been able to play without xD

That being said, due to the facial animation xeno mod stuff taking a bit to be continued I was trying some other face retexture.
I tried out Malang Faces, but noticed that skin color in the portrait does not get drawn on pawns who use those.

Of course goes without saying I threw it out and will be checking some other faces that are compatible with Portrait generation ^^

Just wanted to tell you, in case it didn't come up yet (didn't see it on your mod que) and maybe it's just a quick fix.

Hope you have as much fun as me trying out the DLC :epihappy:

@twopennydude I meant that there are no textures for clothing added from the mods of the combat extended series, such as: night vision goggles, night vision monocular, exoframe, backpacks, plate helmet, and flak goggles
