Generic British Engines Pack v2

I would actually love to see a generic version that digs into the diesels and electric British trains. I mainly use British stuff in my games. And so your generic trains and wagons mods are quite nice because one doesn't need to subscribe to lots of different mods.

Probably too late in the game's life, but I'd love a 'what if' continuation of this pack that has steam loco's into the 21st century. Yes, they would be largely fictional, but that's fine by me.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 17 Jul @ 3:53pm
@EurostarLover009: due to mod.io's rule around logos and the like, I'd have to retool the mod and liveries significantly to get it approved for consoles unfortunately.

Might be something I look into for TpF3, but I'm probably not going to do it for TpF2, I'm sorry to say.
EurostarLover009 17 Jul @ 2:26pm
You should add some of your content to mods.io so xbox modders can use them, they are great to use if you want a uk setting but on small disk space

I'm curious if there would be a Generic Diesel or Generic Electric pack to enable progression from the mid-game to late-game? Your work is incredibly stunning - and light weight which is appreciated.
Sqweloookle 19 Oct, 2024 @ 10:03am
It would be awesome to have faster versions of all of them to use at endgame for beauty's sake as they are very pretty.
thehoodedman53 9 Jul, 2024 @ 4:22pm
Mate, these are great. Perfect for playing on my laptop (where the nifty tricks to reduce demand on the specs are much appreciated) but with a nice eye for style. Top stuff.
CynicalKiwi 23 Jan, 2024 @ 9:45pm
Absolutely brilliant idea and content. All these in one grouping has shortened my load order by like 50 items.

Love it! :)

Re: my last comment - I am a silly
Blue Bob-Omb 5 Dec, 2023 @ 9:23pm
I'm not sure if it's me messing up or an error with the Dec 5th update but at this point, the Unlined Black livery does not recolor
SteelRodent 6 Nov, 2023 @ 9:56am
These look really great and help pad out any early start game as there really is nothing between 1850 and 1880, the period where steam engines changed the most. And since England built a lot of engines for many different countries at the time, they're not entire out of place elsewhere.
Ashley 5 Nov, 2023 @ 8:15am
how to find assets i cant find them?
th3maldonado 19 Oct, 2023 @ 1:23pm
I'd like to see if what Fahrgast proposed is something that could be done. Having an option in the mod loader to choose between the typical footplate lanterns and the high-top american style round lanterns would be perfection. This is one of my most used and recommended mods and your generic coaches are some of the best mods on this game! Between you, Steve Emfore, CW315 and many others this game is my perfect UK Railway simulator. Thank you for the hard work!
sharp323 15 Sep, 2023 @ 12:59pm
Just a quick note to say thank you for an excellent mod.
The drip feed of new locos keeps my games interesting and I love the new additions.
Top work!
Fahrgast 31 Aug, 2023 @ 3:35pm
I really love this Mod, the locos look great. But can you maybe change the lamps? The real british steam locos had such small attachable lanterns, your big round lanterns don't really fit the locos, i think.
Nedyahlz 4 Aug, 2023 @ 5:46pm
Is there a way I can manually set the maintenance and cost of the trains? I feel that the game makes modded trains overpriced compared to their vanilla counterparts
SoftMittens 23 Jul, 2023 @ 2:46am
I love this so much
LukeyGamer 10 Jul, 2023 @ 12:30am
found it! thank you :) @greenranger
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 8 Jul, 2023 @ 9:31am
@NotLucas the generic subcategories should be at the top of the build menu, it'll likely be the very first options at top when you click to build a new locomotive.
LukeyGamer 7 Jul, 2023 @ 6:15pm
I may be stupid but i cant seem to find the "depot menu" these trains are under. I've tried googling it, though results are dismal.
Pizzaguy 5 Jul, 2023 @ 3:45pm
absolutely top notch stuff just so you know
Blue Bob-Omb 7 May, 2023 @ 2:57pm
Oh, thank you! I appreciate that info.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 7 May, 2023 @ 2:53pm
@Blue Bob-Omb: my older mods had reversed variants but I've stopped adding them since the release of Nina's 'Train Shunter' mod, which handles that sort of stuff much more neatly and organically IMHO. I definitely recommend checking it out!
Blue Bob-Omb 7 May, 2023 @ 2:24pm
constructive feedback: Some of the tank and tender engines could use reversed versions (maybe not every single engine unless it's easier to just batch reverse the engines) but for example some of the goods tender engines and of course things like the 0-4-4 which even say in the description often ran bunker first
iProfessore 29 Mar, 2023 @ 11:22am
Great Mod!. The "built in" early trains are pathetic, waste years getting started.
Couple of comments though:
Just too many trains, it would work with a third of those trains spread over the years. in the words of the song "It's raining trains"
1907 trains announced, don't actually appear in the list until not your next but your next announcement (they can be found by searching though)
Master Trams 25 Mar, 2023 @ 5:03am
This is a fantastic mod, going straight into my mod list.
The only disappointment is that there's no such mod I've found yet for diesels and electrics...
Staggi 24 Mar, 2023 @ 2:53am
Love your mod!
Out of curiousity; do you think you'll ever make generic trains for another country?
But no matter what, really appreciate your work
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 22 Mar, 2023 @ 9:54pm
As is stated in the description, the mod is designed to replace the previous version, not run alongside it, but you can load both at the same time in order to switch to the 'new' versions of existing models before removing the older version.

@Bow-Tied Engineer: No older locomotives were redesigned, but some may have had some slight changes made to their balance.
Bow-Tied Engineer 22 Mar, 2023 @ 6:21pm
I second the question about using both, and also want to ask if the engines just got more details or if some were fully redesigned. I already use 1.0 and the even older generic small british engines one in parallel because the engines are a bit different between the two and sometimes you just need even more variety in your shunters.
Stay on target, Porkins! 17 Mar, 2023 @ 4:13am
Is it safe to use this along with your 1.0 pack? I already have some of those ones being used on my save game. Or should I just use this one with new games?
Rhysse 15 Mar, 2023 @ 12:08pm
Can confirm it is fixed, thanks. had to replace the one I had already placed but that's easy enough.
Honestly love this mod.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 14 Mar, 2023 @ 7:55pm
@Shadow_AI thanks for catching that, I'd set up something wrong. It should be fixed now (as well as the OP traction on the 4-6-0)
Rhysse 14 Mar, 2023 @ 8:58am
Is it possible to disable the smoke and steam on the asset versions without making them aged?
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 12 Mar, 2023 @ 9:13pm
@Sandst4rm: Thanks for letting me know! Itll be fixed in the next day or two
Sandst4rm 12 Mar, 2023 @ 7:46pm
My bad it was era V (5)
Sandst4rm 12 Mar, 2023 @ 7:39pm
Hey man i think the era IV (4) 1933 tender engines are broken, the game tells me they have 1,250kN tractive effort while the rest have the normal 100-130kN
briansyston 12 Mar, 2023 @ 9:07am
The description doesn't state the dependant mods if there are any.
FoolInjection 12 Mar, 2023 @ 12:13am
@Gr1m - I did notice you had did that with era 4 and 5 trains. Thank you for that. A very welcome edition.
Elymaïs 11 Mar, 2023 @ 5:43pm
wonderful stuff
Sandst4rm 11 Mar, 2023 @ 3:42pm
Love the little garrett, would be great to get high-res or more detailed versions of the other garretts on the workshop
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 11 Mar, 2023 @ 6:25am
UPDATE: On a bit of a whim (mostly because I wanted them for my own personal user) I've updated the mod with some additional content -all era 4 and era 5 locomotives are now also available in BR Green, BR Blue and BR Black liveries.

But before anyone asks: I'm unlikely to add any other liveries (like grouping liveries) anytime soon.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 11 Mar, 2023 @ 2:53am
@h.aizawa504 The new version adds new locomotives based around 1920-1950. If those years don't interest you then the old version is still ok to use :)
h.aizawa504 11 Mar, 2023 @ 2:38am
One question. I can't speak English, so I use a translator.
I play from Japan and this is a great mod. But unfortunately I am not really interested in British locomotives after 1900. ......
So I still use older versions of the mod with fewer such locomotives. The newer versions have too many for a single mod, even if they are split into blocks. Not the livery, but the number of locomotives themselves.

I will continue to use the old version, but do I absolutely have to update to this new, new version?
TheOneWhoIs 10 Mar, 2023 @ 6:40pm
Absolutely fantastic work! Great assets to "fill in the blanks" of a themed line without having 100's of mods installed for locos that are basically background pieces.
Killerbin 10 Mar, 2023 @ 4:46pm
Could some Locos akin to the 9F or even a 10F or even a 10P be added too ?
briansyston 10 Mar, 2023 @ 8:51am
'the 1850s economy is broken anyway' ???
sheep21 10 Mar, 2023 @ 3:01am
@AAAAAAAAAAAAAA... To prompt you to read how the mod is set up and works so you don't come back asking questions already answered on the description or readme? It's not rocket science...
Centurion 10 Mar, 2023 @ 1:32am
Go on, take a guess. Why do you think people need a reminder to read the description on the steam workshop...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 10 Mar, 2023 @ 12:27am
why do i need something called "read the description" for this
FoolInjection 10 Mar, 2023 @ 12:25am
I've been playing through a Scotland save using the engines from your first version of this and they are amazing. Thank you so much for this mod, I'll be upgrading to this version on my next game load.
