@Curiosity Rover: This was primarily made for my Arma community to play. While it's certainly playable on your own, it will be very challenging to do so. Performance is also best when played on a dedicated server.

@Curiosity Rover - You can use my mod to 'adjust' such things ON THE FLY. AI too hard? Make them easy! Too easy? Make a tad harder!

This is a badass mod, it would be really nice if there was a less intensive mode or a way to scale everything down for solo players and to improve performance

lemon haze: Steam handles the download of workshop items. Try unsubscribing and resubscribing or restarting steam. Check your downloads page in your steam library for outstanding workshop item downloads. The mission should show up in orange letters for the map Malden. You may need to host a local multiplayer server to play solo. Hope this helps!

@Max98: I suppose you could load the mission with 3den and swap the assets out, but at that point it's probably best to just build a new support mission from scratch. BIS have a good guide on it here: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3:_MP_Support_Guideline

@ Meme Man Mike - What you can do until he makes those changes, if he does, is to use my mod. With it you can:

Call in AI jets in pairs as often as you like (or helis).
Or just spawn a jet that you have the files/DLC/mod for, and just fly that jet.

Also, using my mod, your friend could exit out of the heli, 'do his thing', then get back in and fly off if that is what he wanted to do.

This mod works in SP and MP. For MP, each player needs to have it loaded and the key needs to be on the server - That's it! :)

Next message under this one, will address how to 'fix' units not 'staying put' - also quite simple!

@ Meme Man Mike - As far as units not 'staying put', real easy fix for that too! I have been using it for years!

Get Duda's 'Advanced AI Command' mod. This will allow you to give commands to ANY AI unit, such as move, defend, S&D, etc. with a few mouse clicks!

Great mission to say the least. For the past 2 weekends my two buddies and I have been playing this. We all fire up our laptops at one or the others house and host a listen sever with minimal to no lag.

Noticeable issues

-No friendly squads will stay on the point to defend it | We will be at Lima 4 and then suddenly Lima 1 will get taken; not sure if there is an enemy ai issue or if they are just slipping through

Request from our crew

- Jets? Maybe as a bonus for accomplishing tasks, but having them out of the gate at the airbase would be awesome

- My buddy prefers infantry, any chance you could make a quick alternative version that includes a few simple vehicles, a small squad, and the ability to exit vehicles after entering? (I am guessing its meant to be that way but we can never exit our helicopters after getting in, hell he would even be happy to just fly in, land, and do his thing)

Again, absolutely killer mission. We are excited to see updates on the mission!

Hi Martin 509, thanks for your feedback! I've fixed the area positions in the most recent version. I did try to set it up so that aircraft and players don't count for capturing sectors, but apparently the AI the module populates the helicopters with can capture the sector if you fly into it. Instead of limiting the height of the sector (which would be more computational power and a lot of work for me, while you could still just land inside to capture it) I've instead changed it so capturing a sector takes longer and *only* takes into account infantry. Hopefully This will lead to AI killing each other more within the sector instead of just capturing it, walking out again and losing it right away.

Hi there, great mission! I made a few modifications of my own on my end that I think would be useful:
- It would be nice to have the default parameters (as defined in description.ext) for starting time and weather, for replayability.
- Make sure to put the 'area' marker within the actual trigger of the zone, and preferably somewhere in the center - AI groups use the 'area' marker as the actual place to move to, so if it's moved outside of the zone they will simply stand outside of the trigger not capturing anything.
- Similarly, make sure the trigger is only so high - 15 meters high is a good baseline - to prevent players from capping zones from just hovering above.
- Also, consider having some unsynchronized enemy AI groups set to patrol at each point that OPFOR starts the game owning, so that the points in question aren't completely empty and trivial to capture.

Did you encounter any performance issues? The helicopters are part of the mission, pilots are supposed to be able to choose from them and the airbase looks more lively with them. Also, having a system where pilots would spawn in their own helicopters would kind of break the immersion.

Having a couple of empty vehicles in the base is negligible in performance in my experience.

1. The helicopters shouldn't cause lag with 17 players which is the maximum this mission supports. They are all synced to the headquarters and have dynamic respawn positions so there will not be more than those helicopters at any point.

2. The enemies at the beginning are placed so there is a bit of a battlefield going on from the get-go, it's not neccessarily designed so it scales with player count. I could, however, make it so the amount of enemies that spawn dynamically get adjusted with player count, should not be too tough. The reason they run away "weirdly" is because I add them to the sector control AI so the AI will use them to capture or defend other sectors dynamically.

3. That's how the BIS support mission works, I'm afraid. Each squad generates a transport mission as long as it's not at the position it tries to capture. Wounded squads generate a medevac, squads low on ammo spawn a resupply task. If squads detect an enemy vehicle they will request a CAS task. You don't have to do all the transport tasks (nor will you be able to!), so strategically pick the squads furthest away from the AO or the squads going towards an AO you want to support for capture.

4. That's right, enemies respawn on fixed spawn positions and have to travel back into the AO, just like your own squads. Every enemy you kill will enable the sector AI to spawn new enemies up to its cap (even the static ones at the beginning), so killing enemies at the front line quickly will make it easier to capture points and the points closer to enemy spawn points will be more difficult to capture.

You said the mission gets easy quickly, does that mean you managed to beat it? I've been playing it with my group and we struggled to beat it. How many players have you played the mission with? Please also let me know if you hosted on a listen server or dedicated server and whether you had any performance issues so I can take a look at that.

Great mission, I learned flying there! It's way more fun and engaging to train flying with tasks and a purpose instead of being alone in the editor.
