however the batteries should last longer than the fuel does.
as for workarounds, there are 2:
1- Im pretty sure you can charge the batteries if you just run the propulsion turbine, and shut off the lift turbines and the lights.
2- in the propulsion turbine room, you can turn off both "charge battery" breakers, and turn on both "charge grid" breakers. this will power the systems directly via the generator and bypass the batteries which actualy should give supirior performance, and you can just use the batteries as a backup and during start up.
