Short answer: No. I appreciate your feedback though.

Long answer: I am inexperienced in modding (C#) and thus take a long time to create simple mods. Moreover, I am no longer as interested in Terraria as I once was. Hence, even if it seemed like a good idea to me, I probably wouldn't make it.
To give you my unsolicited opinion about the coin cost, it would act as an unnecessary money sink for the sake of "balancing". It would discourage players from playing together thereby making the game less fun. It would be similar to adding a coin cost to travelling between pylons.

Great work here. Would you be up to creating a version that allows you to tp to friends without a wormhole potion but has a configurable coin cost related to distance? The further away the player the more the cost. No cost if you have wormhole potions in your inventory of course.
