That is a neat idea.. I don't think I would add it to the icons themselves though.
A) it will start to clutter things
B) people will start requesting other stuff like Actions Points, HP, etc

I'll consider it for the tooltip though !

Love this mod a lot! I have a recommendation though if possible: colored soldier bonds to be shown next to the icons as well.

Tooltips are weird things to deal with, I'm just happy they're working at all, lol !

@RustyDios: thank you for all your help. I really love this mod and I consider it essential. I still hold out hope so if you find a solution in the future please give update in the comment.

P/S: maybe if you can refer to the original mod by zFail. He was able to make the tooptip (without headshot) to show in the right position. I dont know anything about the coding but the config file of his mod doesnt have anything related to the tooptip so I cant figure it out.

I think the exact position might have just been luck based on the size of that particular tooltip. Those tooltip anchors are the only thing in the mod that affects where they are positioned relative to the icon and the mouse.

You *might* be able to get it to appear higher based on the fTooltipMaxHeight setting, but that is normally the max size of the box, and tooltips auto-shrink to fit the actual used space ~ it doesn't normally control the offset because that can't be easily manipulated

@RustyDios: I was able to get the soldier icon bar right where I want it. I just need one last help with the tooptip

As you can see in the screenshot, I was able to get the tooptip to the correct ancor position (setting 7 btw) but I want the entire tooltip (black rectangle) to show above soldier icon not overlap it, kind of like in your screenshot. I cant find any setting related to the tooptip that can accomplish it. Could you please help point it out?

you want to change the "TooltipAnchorPosition = x" setting in the config .. I'm sorry I can't recall which setting exactly you need, but most likely it is setting 9 (anchor bottom right)

The hover tooltip always appear below the potrait unlike in your screenshot which is above the potrait. Could you please tell me the exact setting to change in the ini file so I can make mine look exactly like yours?

Correct. This mod has no MCM support.
You can find the mod folder quickly by right-clicking the mod in AML and selecting 'go to folder'

Thank you for your kind answer. The information is really helpful. I thought it was AML updated the mod. Because this issue starts couple days ago. Now I understand what really happened. Steam updated the version with issue and it didnt update your later fix... Thank you again for your good work and kind answer Rusty.

AML just reports on the latest information from Steam. It doesn't actually handle the download, just that steam has a difference from what AML remembers and what is current.

What is ACTUALLY on your drive is handled by Steam, and it's auto-updater sucks recently.
When it doubt always perform a manual unsub/resub first, this ensures you actually have the latest files. ((also Steam doesn't do updates if 'the game' is running, for XCOM2 this includes having AML open as it thinks it is also the game ... :)

I use AML and it updated the mod automatically. So I think I was using 1.8.2 and the issue occur. Then I switch to manually set position and it works fine. I'll resub the mod and reset the config file to see if the issues still exists. Thank you Rusty.

Hmm, I've ran through 4 missions today and not had issues with the 1.8.2 version.
Please unsub and resub to force steam into updating the mod.

There’s an issue with today’s update. After my soldiers take action, there’s a high chance that the icon will move to the center at the bottom of the screen.

I REALLY like this. Good to be able to look at a part of the screen and see disable/urgent status effects, and particularly, how many actions are available on each soldier. Huge help with playing turns effectively on legendary ironman

Not getting headshots might be for two reasons; Their is no (strategy) saved headshot for that unit. Because either it's gatecrasher, or a skirmish mission.

This mod does not *create* headshots of its own, and having the headshots was an afterthought, not the main design. It only uses what has already been made, so it can't trip over the same rakes/bugs that plague QSI.

This mod is also not QSI Redux ... I understand the the two mods seem similar on the surface, but they are really nothing alike in code/main functionality.

I'm investigating adding MCM to several config values, but this mod ties itself into a lot of "hot running/updating" code ... I'm not sure wedging MCM into it would help with that.

@Violen Vaymire I use this mod with portraits and it works fine for me. Just double-check, might be some kind of typo. If you use portraits I also recommend to enlarge the size of the icons. I personally use "IconSize = 80" .

Setting "bHeadshotsInsteadOfClassIcons" to true does not seem to work.

They are pre-set material colours in the editor, so I created one of each colour I could.
I can't adjust the base-game selection box here, only the additional one I setup

I'll consider adding some stuff to the tooltip.
The config notes for using headsshots as main do mention the boarder might be hard to see/distinguish and that you may want to adjust the icon/headshot sizes to get a decent colour-state-border

Headshots as main image wasn't really the design intention of this mod though. It was more done as an "afterthought"... and having more information displayed, this mod then becomes a clone/copy of QSI instead of SSI, which is also past the mod intention.

The issue with having more information.. is more info == more checks == slower performance == increased lag ... ...

I understand your minimalistic approach, but it would be great to have some more useful information at least on tooltips if not on portraits/icons, especially, as I've said, on the remaining moves like >>, and health/armor of a soldier. At least as an option.
I'm playing now with your mod and am always looking on soldiers themselves rather than on icons to get information even about the remaining AP, because the frames of the portraits (I use portraits not icons) are too narrow for me to be well readable.
Thanks again for the mod! I write it only because I wish this mod to be even better than it is.

It's mostly lwotc + any big mod list in general, cbac and a few others just pushes it over the edge. the lwotc fix should really be big difference if using large mod lists (150+ ?), depending on hardware too a bit ofcourse. I personally use this mod + cbac + lwotc beta again and it feels good

The issue ExitSign is mentioning is specific to LWotC+CBAC... which is caused by call LWotC does during a function used by CBAC... in short, for every perk in every units list, per tile, LWotC is checking your entire modlist for 1 active mod .... to alter a display colour .... every tile, for every perk, for every unit .... .....

.. or something similar.. in short the 'next' LWotC update should fix/reduce the behaviour


THIS mod without LWotC seems to be working fine with CBAC for me .. :)

Damn, this is the mod I was waiting for a long time. Minimal and direct to the point. Hoping my frames don't suffer that much. Btw, the info from Exit Sign should be on Troubleshooting or issues. Now I wish I could have color abilities working good with this one.
