In short, the Proxian Project was an "abandoned" TeamCX project that was about 85% complete
Hulk, Obelix and Kexx had all the assets and animations but, it needed some coders to finish things off and make it playable. This is where Alpha and myself stepped in to help push what *was* ready to a playable state. We did what we could but some of the things are still "locked down" in the TeamCX vault and may never get to the see the light of the workshop.

It's about the lore yeah.. Hulk would be the best one to explain it, but he visits less often.
The basic of it though go something like this;
All females uploaded into the frames basically go 'crazy' with power, they can't be happy and content with 'just surviving' and always need 'more'... more power, more gadgets, more abilities, more flesh.. yes! they crave everything they've lost and eventually kill, maim and rampage to adorn themselves with flesh again...

The Proxians that xcom 'finds' are out-running//asylum seeking both from the Elders and their own female counterparts.....

From a technical standpoint there was a plan to bring female Proxia's as an enemy unit, but it got cut out so the mod could actually find a release version. This is because they have no models and/or voices and/or it also takes a ton more work re-doing all the custom animations for the female mesh, etc etc etc.

Well no idea on the lore side lol,but with URC you can just go in the outfits and select female outfits and just equip them with it and give them any voice you want.
So basically doing that,the only thing saying they male is the text.

This may seem a silly question, but why no female Proxians? I couldn't find any option in the ini files to enable it, and I see you specifically said in the patch notes that you made them all male. I'm just confused why that was an issue.

Assuming it isn't to prevent some game breaking bug, I've been trying to think of it from a lore/RP perspective, and it doesn't make sense to me that they would all be male. Surely their society had some females who would have transferred into the robot bodies? I don't think they should have a different body even, their society was desperate and dying, mass produced androgynous robo bodies makes sense when you are scrambling to download as many people as possible into their own high tech hard drives, but just the ability to identify as female would be a nice RP element to add more personality to a character.

It's a 'known' bug with the GTS perk.. I've just been swamped with other real-life issues to be able to devote any time into finding out why it happens. It's a "runaway accumulation" of shields for every mission the unit goes on "the GTS/Kinetic shields" is added to the "standard shields" (which then becomes a 'new' standard for the next mission)

I think this is a really awesome mod. However, while using this mod, my Proxian soldier's shield keeps increasing endlessly, and now the shield has gone up to 50. I'm wondering if this is normal behavior.
I suspect this issue occurred after taking the Kinetic Plating trait.

Amazing mod, I was thinking its kinda broken to have more than 2 of these guys, the covert missions pops up every month for me and its kinda broken to get one every month

A random question that popped in my head,never thought about it since its my first "hero" class outside the base game

But if I have multiple proxian soldiers in my hero pool (as in,saved templates for when I get one),and disable the mod for a run,would the templates be gone from the pool? And if I reenable the mod,would they be back or I lost them and have to redo them?

Okay, making Carl “Cosmos” Sagan as a Proxian Unit with tattered business suit attire is by far one of the best decisions I’ve ever done.

This decision has turned Proxian Unit into one of my favorite mods.

Thanks Rusty! I'll un-sub and re-sub to clear the changes I've made 2 the config as you had already perfected it. 1 Free prox and another to rescue feels more balanced as a result of the sheer badassery at play with this class. My Proxian is running around with 10 armor and whistling cannon. We good famm.

This mod should work fine as a hero class alongside Amalgamation, much like how the other hero classes do.

Your issues with the animations etc come from trying to add extra armours - this is never going to work as per the "Custom Armour Only" comment. This is because all the needed animations etc are tied to the torso armour. This is just a design limitation of the game.

The class was never intended to be GTS trained, they need a custom unit pawn/model to function hence the free starting one and Coverts for recruitment to give the correct special-to-type unit (it is not a 'standard' human frame - in much the same way as Sparks/Heroes are not GTS trainable)

Your crashing issue/startup times/log is just xcom2 being jank, check your modlist. Sounds like you might be running conflicting mods or vanilla mods in wotc. The log itself there is nothing useful, sorry.

For 8-9 hours twice before loading the menu = 18 hours to load
I'm lucky if the computer doesn't crash beforehand from watching youtube while waiting after doing IRL stuff. It has decreased my screen time considerably and I get sunlight now. But I want my damn XCOM and Proxian Class to work alongside amalgamation classes even if it is not amalgamated. It's too "Polished" to be made an amalgam spec. Easily at least.

My game is taking a year to load possibly as a result of this mod clashing with amalgamation classes. But I love this class so much I don't want to remove it to resolve the issue or even test. I tried adding add'l armours because I'm crazy

But I still can only equip Proxian armor. I'm sure there's a reason for this. I was trying to create a Proxian cyberninja though. Just didn't want to break the class in the process as I allowed AWC abilities and now I can train proxians in GTS but they have issues like teleport shockwave does no "shockwave" and they break concealment just by moving. Otherwise Proxian Androids (GTS trained proxians humanoids) are pretty badass. But broken. School me Rusty

Maybe I won't be able to enjoy this mod. It's a shame, but it's just me. Having a proxian soldier in the first mission will cause significant delays (not stalling, just a few seconds after the initial landing, giving orders, and moving view).

I have over 300 mods and don't have time to go through what caused the conflict with your mod. I had to give it up.

Sorry, but I still thank you guys for this great work - it's almost like an official DLC!

you can add the specific head to the XComContent.ini (possibly as a helmet), there are plenty of examples in this mods configs already

so is there a way to allow the Proxian to be able to have an invisible head? (there's a specific cosmetic i want to use with them and the head ruins the aesthetic)

This mod should work fine with Amalgamation. You'll get a dedicated Proxian soldier on Gatecrasher, just the same as without Amalgamation.

If you want this mod made into specs though, with upto 8 ranks and randomised perks.... that is not something that would be easy to do, and certainly not something I can put time towards, sorry.

Its an issue with the GTS perk I think. Did you recently purchase the GTS upgrade?

my particular worrie with this issue is balance, considering the gts perk that lets you recover shield as long as there is space in the hp bar to do so, given that my ablative hp bar gets longer and longer without apparent reason.

my proxian keeps showing up to missions with missing or spent ablative hp, on paper hes supposed to be be at 7 ablative hp, which he does, but has 10 ablative spent, this started out with 1 ablative missing then 2 and so on. im worried its going to get higher and higher.

Known Issues: point number 1. This issue happens with "any" custom character template trying to start the matinee/cutscenes, the game can't "find/verify" the unit type against the kismet/map details for unit templates.

Awesome class / hero by the way !

I just wanted to say just in case that C4 and Black Site animations wouldn't trigger when this mod is activated (for me), leading to an infinite Black Screen during the Black Site animation to take the Black Site item. When removed, no problems at all.

Of course that might be because some other mods that are activated for me don't work properly with this one. Just wanted to report that just in case.

I still had fun with this class while it lasted. lol

a) In the XComProxData.ini around line 454 is the CPT Perks, nano-construct is known as "Prox Binding"

b) possibly no issues, but disabled by default because I was worried there might be issues with perk animations etc .. and I just didn't have the energy to test every possible outcome of a gene-modded or psionic gifted Proxian

Emergency Teleport was nerfed to be a percentage chance to happen. People said it was too strong to be 100%, the value is exposed to config though if you want to adjust it

Seem like the proxian when dying from a DoT go into bleeding instead of emergency teleport,happened 3 times from corrosion (from requiem legion mod). I guess its just a "couldn't see that coming" kinda edge case but just wanted to report it.

That is not intended and is an old issue with CI's Covert Action logic. (Although it was presumed to be fixed!)

So,something interesting happened. (Using Covert infiltration btw)
I unlocked my 2nd proxian,Put both of them on a covert infiltration,so until mission start they shouldn't be available.
But 2 ingame days after that,a retaliation strike happened,and one of them was available,and I used it on the mission.It got a promotion and I unlocked the guided missile
And then the covert happened,and it was back in there,and had the missiles when the covert started.

Kinda cool but I don't think its intended is it? Being able to still use them even tho they are in infiltration
