@Letheval: Everything vanilla that has a farm can be grown indoors via these improved hydroponics, including cactus and cotton.
Letheval 26 May @ 1:25pm
What are the possible cultivation with this mod, can we grow everything Wheat, cotton, greenfruit, hemp etc?

@DOG: Nicely done, thanks for sharing!! All of the best and I hope you're enjoying the world of Kenshi, still one of my all-time favourite games!

YeeYeeBoi2000: Not a fan of overhaul mods so I couldn't really tell you there, and you literally nailed why I dislike them; they lock you in to an "all or nothing" type of situation making it rather hard to have your own custom thing going, not to mention the headache of dealing with conflicts. :rfacepalm:

@DOG: That's sweet of you to ask, thank you! Of course, go for it!
YeeYeeBoi2000 23 Dec, 2024 @ 11:01pm
Is there any chance of this getting a patch for genesis? I havent tried it yet but according to the genesis page this mod is incompatible but I want to be able to grow cactus and cotton with hydroponics.

@ Deadmano Good afternoon !
Permission to translate your mod into a language I understand and use in my collection?
With links to your mod and your authorship.
Thank you!

Thank you for explaining, I got it! :epifox:
Deadmano  [author] 11 Dec, 2024 @ 2:03pm
@✿ N A B I ✿: There are 3 tiers, slightly lower base tier, but you get vastly more on the higher tiers. Remember that plant amount does not equate to overall harvest, as most of the tiers grant 3-4 resources per plant. So 10 plants would always yield at least 30 resources, obviously depending on your harvesting yield stat. At the highest tier you're looking at 90-120 resources per hydroponic farm, which is significantly higher than vanilla while keeping it relatively balanced.

I just subscribed to this mod and I noticed that the crop amount was reduced from 16 to 10. Is that intentional, or a nerf? (I havent upgraded so far)
Deadmano  [author] 5 Mar, 2024 @ 1:40pm
@paypig super saiyan: It should? Been a while since I worked on it so I am unsure of the exact numbers, but I do know it has scaling research, with the T3 being at the endgame level. But Hydroponics in general is more of a luxury once you're done with the manual crop farms, so the investment/wait tends to be worth it (if you care at all about the balance).
genius pig brainblast 5 Mar, 2024 @ 8:44am
Would this mod happen to add any hydroponic options at lower tech levels?
Deadmano  [author] 3 Mar, 2024 @ 8:37pm
@Mr. Weas: Check your research! Let me know if you find it?
Mr. Weas 3 Mar, 2024 @ 3:25pm
how do i get cotton?

Thank you all for the wonderful messages! Glad you are finding the mod useful for one of the most incredible open-world games out there! :rshout: I'll hopefully get to the other stuff (like UWE patch) if IRL free time permits!

Love the idea of the mod. Anticipating that UWE patch. Take your time though.
weisspure 21 Jul, 2023 @ 8:06pm
Just wanted to say thanks! and great work, love the mod, love to watch my plants grow, love how they look and love that no import needed.

No wonder it's rocketed up the most popular mods list.

UWE patch would be awesome, looking forward to it! :beeped:
Deadmano  [author] 16 Jun, 2023 @ 5:48am
@Kuku: I'm currently working on GenMod and UWE patches, thereafter I think I'll be done as it is quite a bit of work to balance around IRL values and "Kenshifying" it. Here's a small portion of my balance sheet. [i.imgur.com]

It has been time consuming to research crop information, sometimes having to consult with experts, and then trying to get a baseline to convert into the game hours that Kenshi provides. Then there's the matter of modifying farm data to fit neatly in the Hydroponic bays to prevent overlap etc.

I could just put in random numbers and call it a day but the goal was to aim for realism and balance. However, if I already have the data for the majority of crops added by other mods I may consider it, otherwise others are free to make patches and I am more than happy to provide assistance in that regard.

Let me see how this first set of patches goes and I'll look into the mod you mention, as someone else also brought it up earlier.
Kuku Bat 16 Jun, 2023 @ 12:42am
Hey is there any chance for patches to be made for other mods? like the narcotics expansion? (or am i being silly and it already exists xd)
Deadmano  [author] 2 Jun, 2023 @ 11:40am
@Anrhaa: I appreciate you, thank you! I'll try keep the balance around those then! :rshout:
Anrhaa 2 Jun, 2023 @ 10:02am
@Deadmano Alright, UWE crops are sorted this way:

Yield 20:
- Barley
- Hops
- Millet
- Oat
- Rice
- Rye
- Wheat

Yield 10:
- Agave
- Brown veggies
- Cactus
- Corn
- Cotton
- Dustberry
- Rock carrots
- Greenfruit

Yield 5:
- Coca
- Hemp
- Poppy
- Tabaco

@Machus: Hopefully when I tackle UWE it won't cause the output to be too high. As I have 3 tiers, and based on the crop type it starts at either 30 or 40 output (3x10 or 4x10) and goes up to 90 or 120 output (3x30 or 4x30). Each visible crop is harvestable, and then further affected by crop yield.

@Anrhaa: Thanks for being willing to do that! I'll try to balance those within BH standards. And by that I mean grow speed, water consumption (is it a legume vs. a grain, vs. a fungus etc.), and a bunch of other values that happen behind the scenes to create a more immersive/varied hydroponic experience (hence the name).

When I saw the amount of crops added by both mods, let's just say it'll be quite the undertaking to balance! :lunar2019crylaughingpig: I could just use their values and multiply for each tier, but I feel that'd just be slacking and the values would most likely be off.
Anrhaa 2 Jun, 2023 @ 7:12am
Balancing UWE would be pretty easy. Vanilla Hydroponics logic is divided 3 groups: narcotics (5 yield), vegetables (10 yield) and straws/grains (20 yield). So all UWE crops can be sorted that way. I'll try to write which exactly is where later.
Machus 2 Jun, 2023 @ 7:03am
afaik, for uwe, the main reason why more crops were added is so that farming becomes more viable in most biomes. there are crop variants with better yields in places where the vanilla counterparts wont even grow. that being the case, i dont think balancing that will be much of an issue since hydroponics can literally grow anywhere. thanks for the update!
Deadmano  [author] 2 Jun, 2023 @ 6:39am
General Modifications patch [i.imgur.com] is underway! After that I'll get to work on Universal Wasteland Expansion, and then a combo patch for both to avoid any duplication/overlaps between the two and this mod. As I don't use either mod, I am relying on balancing the new crops around the existing ones I edited, and if there is an imbalance I trust those of you that will use the patch will provide feedback so I can balance accordingly. :rshout:
Anrhaa 1 Jun, 2023 @ 7:27am
UWE on the work too? Thank dude. You're awesome 👍
Deadmano  [author] 29 May, 2023 @ 4:01pm
@Machus: That's the plan! It is on my list; if there are any specifics you'd like to see, feel free to share so I can look through it as I work on the patch.
Machus 29 May, 2023 @ 8:48am
any updates for uwe coming soon?
Ġedryht of Wōden 23 May, 2023 @ 6:00am
I how this'd work with the Narcotics mod.
Deadmano  [author] 21 May, 2023 @ 10:27am
General Modifications, UWE, I hear you! If I don't get to it feel free to poke me.
N/A 21 May, 2023 @ 7:57am
Oh I'd totally love a patch for General Modifications.
WariousGaming 19 May, 2023 @ 7:45am
I hope this mod will get UWE patch ;) I totally sub to that! also - thanks to Community Spotlight #8 that listed this mod in it!
Machus 5 May, 2023 @ 10:30am
im playing with kaizo and uwe, any chance theres gonna be a patch for em? (i think its uwe that adds alotta new crops)
bondi 3 May, 2023 @ 7:46pm
Perfect. In that case I will give it a try. Thanks! :VBCOOL:
Deadmano  [author] 3 May, 2023 @ 4:59pm
@bondi: Just to clarify, you can use this mod without any conflicts from other mods provided it is loaded last, in the case of the mod you mentioned, it just won't apply to upgrading the new crop types, just the vanilla ones. I'll see what I can do regarding a patch for the new types.
bondi 3 May, 2023 @ 3:54pm
Oh that's sad news. I'll be waiting for a patch.

Thank you for telling me.
Deadmano  [author] 3 May, 2023 @ 11:41am
@bondi: Not for the new types, no. If there's enough interest I could always make a patch (as can anyone else). It's basically just the farm data and research that needs to be integrated for the new types that mod adds.
bondi 3 May, 2023 @ 11:12am
Hi, is this mod compatible with General Modifications? https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1222324217
Deadmano  [author] 27 Apr, 2023 @ 3:49pm
@Sarus: Yeah it was just the Riceweed T2 specifically, I do enjoy me some rice, so I was specifically testing on just that one! :lunar2019crylaughingpig: I haven't yet had a need to go above T2 with 6x of each Hydroponic bay and a large production chain, but it is nice for those who only want one or two and have limited space. Water has been my biggest bottleneck, but serves me right for calling the desert my home! :rshout:
Sarus 27 Apr, 2023 @ 12:09am
Was it just the tier 2 riceweed that had the Self Replication nanites? as ive currently skipped T1 of all and so far not gone into T3 yet
Sarus 26 Apr, 2023 @ 11:00pm
no wonder i kept getting combat alerts, the starving vagrants, bandits, everything else was sneaking into my base cause i had the legendary Muffin Button, but Gohan Edition
Deadmano  [author] 25 Apr, 2023 @ 4:19pm
@Sarus: You caught me, we meet again; hello! :rshout: Likewise, I also didn't want to keep expanding and expanding, I much prefer efficiency in smaller spaces. And as for the growth rate being so fast; you actually found my debug value I was using to ensure growth was changing between upgrades! Whoops! :lunar2019crylaughingpig: I've fixed that now, thank you! So if anyone is upset, you know who to send your angry starving vagrants to! :rshocked:
