Black colour and turtle perk would be nice too...hahaha I've been waiting for this mod X-D

[Kor]HellCrossH 9 Dec, 2023 @ 2:32am
I'm going to paint red, which is 3x faster.

Usually It depends on the mods but it should be fine with this as its technically just new items, still backing up saves is never a bad idea.
TheSharpFixer 24 May, 2023 @ 8:31pm
Save as in MP session one I mean, goes obvious for SP probably.
TheSharpFixer 24 May, 2023 @ 8:30pm
Wait, can new mods even be placed on a previously existing session save? If so, good as that should void my worries completely.
LeCrazyy  [author] 24 May, 2023 @ 12:05am
To my understanding from prior experience with disabling mods, it will throw up an error telling you there is no item matching the ID, and it will be deleted and that should be it, though it shares the same IDs with this mod's stuff meaning if this mod is enabled at the time it should be fine. It's not ideal but I might block placing the paint station in advance and put a warning on its description box before the update as I don't think most people would notice if I just put a warning on the mod page

When the Equipment mod retroactively has its version of the paintable gear removed, any idea what its going to do to the resulting gear (whether it be that it defaults to the normal version of the gear or just gets deleted from the save)?

He has a unique way of criticism I'll give him that
LeCrazyy  [author] 22 May, 2023 @ 7:44am
I'm also surprised it reached the front page, guess positive ratings mean a lot
Battle Engineer 22 May, 2023 @ 7:43am
he does sometimes give good wisdom, hes just not the nicest about it lol
LeCrazyy  [author] 22 May, 2023 @ 7:42am
Don't worry, I know m12 is a little mischievous, still he can provide some wisdom from time to time.
Battle Engineer 22 May, 2023 @ 7:35am
@LeCrazyy nice mod, also its best if you ignore M12, he does this to all mods that are featured on the front page of the workshop. i actually checked if he does this and sure enough he does
LeCrazyy  [author] 22 May, 2023 @ 4:16am
Hm, I'd rather not overwrite them, I'll look into status effects for colouring though and go from there.
M12 22 May, 2023 @ 4:08am
The item itself has a paint slot
LeCrazyy  [author] 22 May, 2023 @ 3:53am
I'm still a bit confused on whether you mean vanilla items should have the paint slot, as that would require overwriting said items. Or if another item should have a clothes slot and a paint slot. Still, before then I'd need to find out if the item can be recoloured via status effect without it being a new variant of the item.
M12 22 May, 2023 @ 3:38am
@LeCrazyy it will remain as compatible as it is, because you cna just reset the item to vanilla stats by painting it. Variantof still references to vanilla item
LeCrazyy  [author] 22 May, 2023 @ 3:34am
So overwrite all vanilla clothing to have a slot for paint and make it heavily incompatible? Also I haven't seen how to change item colour within a status effect but that may be possible.
M12 22 May, 2023 @ 3:19am
Item has a container for paint. Once paint is placed there item changes its color and remoces the paint.
LeCrazyy  [author] 22 May, 2023 @ 2:50am
The only thing I can think of is maybe there is a better way to apply colours to items using them, but I don't know how
LeCrazyy  [author] 22 May, 2023 @ 2:49am
I am not really an expert on modding but in what way does Status Effects relate to variants of new items, like genuinely if it does it would be good to know
M12 22 May, 2023 @ 1:51am
Who the fuck are these "StatusEffects" and why should i use them when i can just copy and paste 100 billion similar items, because thats what modding truly meant to be!

-c. LeCrazyy - developer of this mod and the laziest shit in the whole workshop
LeCrazyy  [author] 20 May, 2023 @ 11:55pm
It uses variantof from the replicas for colours, originally tried not using the replica and just straight up variantof from vanilla items for colours. Switched to the replica alternative mainly to fix filepaths being broken for textures as well as an issue where too many items in the original item's recipe would bork it in the 3 slot Paint Station (Granted I cant remember if I still had this issue after putting blanks for the recipes in the coloured fabrication variant, I think it did still break on the diving suit but that was a while ago before I switched to the current method), but also so I didn't have to individually fix each spawn probability and price ect.
Biff_W 20 May, 2023 @ 8:42pm
Copying won't make it inherit vanilla items' stats. Thus, not inheriting modded items.
Try using "variantof" instead.
LeCrazyy  [author] 19 May, 2023 @ 9:57am
Added a guide for adding new colours or items, only got the short version right now but gonna add a more detailed one later.
LeCrazyy  [author] 18 May, 2023 @ 8:48am
For example, the divingsuit which is probably the most commonly overwritten by other mod has a new item with the id copydivingsuit in my mod, you can actually spawn it in game via console if you type "spawnitem copy diving suit" cursor
If you have a mod in mind that needs a patch I could make a patch for it though and use their version of the vanilla item instead
LeCrazyy  [author] 18 May, 2023 @ 8:46am
This replica is quite literally just the vanilla item code copied effectively, then the colours use this replica item as the variant rather than directly the vanilla item
LeCrazyy  [author] 18 May, 2023 @ 8:46am
Heya, yeah there is a good reason why other mods wont work with it, I'll be making a guide later on adding custom colours via addons that'll go over it briefly, but what I have done is actually made a replica of each of the vanilla items, both to fix broken file paths and to stop the colour variants from spawning elsewhere.
ReiTheTrap 18 May, 2023 @ 12:04am
tested
the answer is yes but since this is "new item" - the mod changes does not apply to it (like real sonar ones and etc). So they need some patches.
hope people will notice this mod and make those patches. This mod is great
ReiTheTrap 17 May, 2023 @ 11:14pm
finally. I wanted mod like that for very long time already. Now i hope some people will make patches/addons for other modded items.
but does this work right now with other mods that can change same items that this mod changes? Or this mod doesnt change anything and just adds recipes and will still work with those mods if place below those mods so they load first?
LeCrazyy  [author] 17 May, 2023 @ 11:39am
no prob
Luff 17 May, 2023 @ 11:30am
Holy shit this is huge, thanks!!!
