There is a texture on the map that locks the character and also locks the special Zombies and I don't know why but there is something about the sound that if you are using the sound mod it will lock too, apart from that a map is cool.. I thought this campaign was decent, but there were a few moments that were a bit hard to navigate, particularly when you had to enter through windows that seem to be bugged and don't actually appear as open holes, but rather completely intact, giving no indication that they are the path to the safehouse at all. I liked the avoidable horde events, as it added a bit of optional difficulty depending on the path you took (although they could have used a better tradeoff, such as supplies or something). I'm not sure if I just got lucky or not, but the finale was a bit oddly designed in that it gives you this multi-level platform with a wide open area to defend in, but the most ideal spot is where all the supplies are anyways, bundled into a small room. Aside from the visual bugs and some confusing map layout here and there, I would say it's overall enjoyable.

I don't know what part of this is fixed, but the campaign design is horrendous and any world-building attempts are unbelievable. The maps lack immersion, roads that don’t make rational sense and it feels bare-bones. Witch and Tank sequences are pointless. The repetition across maps is tedious, filled with pointless alarms and horde events. Scene transitions are incohesive and illogical, moving from a neighborhood to a random airbase without landing strips and with civilian cars everywhere. Pathways are unclear and nonsensical, and the bots are often bugged, frequently getting stuck (especially on Map 3).

In the finale, you get shot at by the military supposed to save you, and you must wait 10 minutes for a plane to lower its tail platform. The intro and ending are terrible, with the plane taking off from an area surrounded by houses and no landing strip. The list goes on, i wish that I had positive feedback, but this is one of the worst campaigns I've seen.

Good campaign, as the review below says, it's very interesting in that it provides a more realistic experience by minimizing random hordes while setting up the environment so that there's many alarm cars / panic events which can be skipped if you look in the right way. As someone who played half life extensively, I managed to skip most of those events, so it was quite easy, but this campaign can snowball quickly. Overall, definitely worth a playthrough for the atomsphere alone (with difficulty about same as vanilla campaign for me), but has limited replay value after that.

Highway To Hell. Quality: 5.5/10, Difficulty: 5-7.5/10, Length: Long. Played On Expert Twice.

Highway To Hell attempts to stand out amongst its peers by trying to do something different. However, I feel that this didn’t quite pan out in Highway To Hell’s favour.

Specifically, Highway To Hell attempted to be a little less linear and more pseudo-open-world.

To encourage more exploration of the environment, the map designer also removed the semi-random horde timer from most Chapters, in favour of instead plastering the Chapters with Alarm Cars, Alarm Doors, Alarmed Security Glass, and a couple other scripted events.

However, almost all of these Megamob-summoning events and obstacles can be avoided/skipped by simply avoiding/not shooting them.

There are only two unavoidable true Crescendo events in this campaign...

...Whilst this unique map design all sounds interesting and good on paper, it ultimately results in Highway To Hell having a highly variable relative difficulty, and thus a very uneven experience, overall.
