Cell Stability Genes

Ah, how naive I was a month and a half ago. Thinking that 3 cell stability genes somehow was enough to create a full spectrum of genes to pick from.

Well in past me's defense, he didn't know this whole More Biotech Genes was going to become a thing. Well, here I am to correct past mistakes, and as long as nobody says a thing nobody will know about my naivete. Wait a minute....

I made More Biotech Style Genes - All In One . This is for people who want all, or at least most, of the Genes I've created in my More X Genes series. As a warning, it takes directly from those mods, so if there's a change from one of them you don't want, you'll need to download individual mods.

Well there's always going to be people staring at the default options and thinking "I wish there was something more" and "this just isn't cutting it", just like you thought "I'd like some more variety". Customizability! Woohoo!

I like that collection idea. I didn't really expect anyone to be interested in these mods, but having them all in one place would make them more convenient to access.

I'll take a look at the genes list to see if there's any that I could add. I initially made this mod because I was personally bothered by the lack of variety, so I didn't really think of looking at the other genes before now.

I'm certain that if you continue along this trend, then you should integrate all of those changes into one mod or modpack so that it can be found with ease. All of these mods have in common that they expand on existing features. People may complain that they want the Lovin' Genes but not the Fertility Genes, but hey, who cares, and, either make a steam workshop collection or assemble them all into one mod that makes use of mod settings.

You could look at this page:

and just expand the range.

Very unhappy? Severely unhappy, extremely unhappy.
Slow runner? Very slow runner.
Heat weakness? Heat super-weakness.
UV sensitivity? UV stimulus.
Kind instinct? Abrasive instinct.
Slow study? Very slow study.
Nearsighted? Eagle-eyed.
Dark vision? ...darkblind?
Psychite resistant? Psychite tendency.
Super psy-sensitive? Severely psy-sensitive. (could start coming with downsides)
Slow wound healing? Very slow wound healing.

I also made extended lovin' and fertility genes mods, which adds a lot more variety in the options for libido and fertility genes. If there's another niche that you think should be filled, let me know. I can't promise good art, but I'm about 90% sure I can make the gene(s).

To be precise, I meant to recommend filling additional individual easy-to-fill niches.
tmo97 25 May, 2023 @ 2:24am
Perfect! I don't use this word a lot, but this mod concept only requires perfect execution to objectively be a perfect vanilla feature inversion addition. Thumbs aside, I recommend filling more easy-to-fill niches.

Infinite cell stability:
Biologically immortal, whatever causes cancer instead just increases healing rates, completely immune to disease.

ahah briliant
selest19 22 May, 2023 @ 12:13pm
when you cant afford archite genes

Ahh, thanks! That's awesome and I appreciate it.I understand now I was confused. I was thinking of the Unstable Mutations gene from Alpha Genes(?), and for the life of me couldn't figure out what the opposite of 10 random genes a day was. XD

Thanks again and good work.
The Blind One 19 May, 2023 @ 2:43pm
@alite fair enough
Alite  [author] 19 May, 2023 @ 2:15pm
@Dave I added the details of the genes to the description, but essentially they just take the instabilities genes, and do the reverse.

@The Blind One I did consider increasing complexity, but I figured that if the dev didn't do that for the instabilities, then it'd be more fair to follow the same pattern for the stability genes.
The Blind One 19 May, 2023 @ 11:18am
@alite thanks man, yeah I realized the same personal limitations as you did haha. It was just an idea I thought I'd throw out.

Regarding the mod, you may want to increase the complexity for the higher tier genes so there's at least some balance to the genes but I completely understand if you're not interested in that and that it isn't the goal of this mod.
Attention Deficit Dave 19 May, 2023 @ 11:13am
Thanks for the effort!

Could you tell me what each of these three genes actually mechanically do? I'd prefer not to have to install them just so I can mouse over, considering my extra long mod list. :P
Alite  [author] 19 May, 2023 @ 4:23am
@The Blind One While I do love the idea, I'm not entirely sure how to implement it. It would need to be in a new machine, and giving that machine a way to find a way to allow people to generate any of the available genes may currently be beyond my abilities. I'll let you know if I attempt it, but if you put a request in the Workshop discussions, you'd be more likely to see it actualized sooner.

@sharkcrisp because by that point age truly is just a number. With the increased immunity rate combined with any other immunity bonuses, most pawns resist diseases faster than they progress, and cancer might as well not be progressing at 10% speed.
Mismagius 18 May, 2023 @ 7:53pm
huh, i see. well i never really bothered doing the archonexus quest line since it is quite tedious.
sharkcrisp049 18 May, 2023 @ 7:37pm
why better stability breaks balance on the icons lol
The Blind One 18 May, 2023 @ 6:47pm
Great idea for a mod, I was thinking about making this not so long ago but you saved me the trouble :D

One other thing I came up with as well was making it possible to allow the gene assembler to make genes for a very large amount of pawn labor investment. I mean where do genes come from other then by a scientist carefully working the DNA threads and assembling the code by themselves over an extended time. It would still be vastly faster just ripping them from pawns as-is but it would also be interesting to allow pawns to code the genes themselves, allowing you to create the genes you 'really' want without needing to scavenge for them. Not sure if you're interested in such an idea but I thought I'd throw it out there.:lunar2019crylaughingpig:
Alite  [author] 18 May, 2023 @ 6:26pm
I'm guessing most people would be more interested in the immunity boost. People who like getting the Archonexus ending might also be interested in it since that usually involves several in game years.
Mismagius 18 May, 2023 @ 6:18pm
not sure what use this has with the longer life spans without the game lagging after playing 2 in game years even with mods that reduce lag
HIM 18 May, 2023 @ 1:07pm
Yes, immunity gain speed
Longer lifespan, yass
